The Moose is one tough peek bagger. I have been enjoying the webpage updates to
the Sierra Challenge 2010 Trip Reports.

Do you have company on that last peak?

I always like reading about Rick Kent & you're other Friends Epic Adventures. I
always know you need a Defibrillator handy if one of Rick's Trip Reports has a
Text Document before that first Photo.

You have brought a great bunch of climbers together over the years and
documented their travels with great Detail!

KNOCK OUT that Last SPS Peek.

Keep it SPICEY!
Jed

Thanks Jed!

The last one is scheduled for this Thursday, a 40 mile romp to Table Mtn out of
the Shepherd Pass TH. If anyone is interested in joining on the fun, show up
ready to go at 1:30am. I have Tom, Laura, and Darija planning to join me at the
moment. All are welcome to join the silliness.

:-)

Have a great time out this weekend.

I follow a gentleman with a nice blog I thought you might like.

He just ran Rae Lakes Loop in 7hr 29 min.
He ran it first time last year in Oct09 after that big snowstorm in 12 hr.

I liked your Mt.Cotter TR http://www.snwburd.com/bob/trip_reports/cotter_2.html

He also is record holder for Ohlone Wilderness 50k

23rd Annual May 23, 2010

	 1. Pantilat, Leor (M26) - 04:16:28 - New Course Record

He also has great Videos on Viemo

I think he would love your website for beta. If he has not found it yet.

Take Care

Jed

Hi Bob,
Sad news Rick Crushed his foot at the top of a Canyon in Zion when a 3ft
Boulder Ran him over. I though you probably already know about it but if not
I am sure Rick would like some words of encouragement to get the healing
started right.

Yes, I heard about this last week. His website (www.rickkent.net) has pictures
(how many guys take pictures during their rescue?), but little text. His story
on facebook described a large boulder that came loose on him. Luckily it was at
the start of the canyon descent and he was with Darija, who went back for help.
He was heli-vac'd out and had surgery that same night. The boulder broke 3-4
bones in his foot when it rolled over it. He's just starting the slow rehab
process and is in much pain since the accident, getting little sleep and not
being able to do much else. He seems to appreciate emails since he can't do much
else and it helps take his mind off the pain for a while. If you'd like to write
to him, his contact info can be found here:

Oh sh*t Rick!!!

Get well soon and I am so sorry to hear of this mishap.

Your infectious and positive vibes will help immensely and doesn't surprise me
that you got great photos as always to document it all but seeing you all messed
up really sucks.

Please email me if there is anyway I can help as there are some awesome herbs,
etc that also really help and have unfortunately had to also find out by
experience.

Infinite blessings my friend and stoked your still w/ us and sure you will be
back doing what you love before you know it.

It appears to be down for the count. I've been out of town and won't be back
until later this week. Might have been a power outage during the last series of
storms. There's also some issue with hecka slow downloads that I haven't had
time to get to the bottom of, but it's on my todo list for the new year when I
get home.

Hey all, if you are into IDing peaks (and I think I have my best possible chance
at finding the likes of you here) this may interest you.

Last Friday Jan 14 I drove up to the top of Mt. Diablo after work on a typical
clear winter day to try to find Half Dome from the summit. Turns out I was able
to find a lot more. If you can ID anything else let me know, my eyes were tired
from looking at topos and google earth. This was taken about 30 minutes before
sunset so the alpenglow and low angle of the sun helped to reveal the terrain
features. It was still a bit hazy, I think I could get a much better picture but
it is just hard to pick the perfect day to make that 1.5 hour drive up and down
plus $10 admission. I've been trying for a year and so far this is my best
effort.

http://www.summitpost.org/southern-yosemite-from-mt-diablo/692769/c-150863

I've got a bunch of other pictures I took further north that include Conness,
Tower, Relief, Leavitt, Sonora, and Stanislaus, and a bunch of other prominent
peaks I have yet to identify, and could use help with. Will post them later if
there is enthusiasm about this. There were some big clouds over tahoe so I
couldn't get the crystal range and other tahoe peaks this time.

Way cool, Jonathan!
There are others far more skilled than I to help ID peaks in the Sierra, but
your picture reminds me a bit of my low-tech view experience at lookout points
from Minaret Summit near Mammoth Lakes, and Grandview off Hwy 168 to Bristlecone
Pine Forest. Just spectacular views!

one Southern covering Mt Whitney to Florence Lake and one northern covering

doing so...Do you have a personal website where additional photos can be IDed??

I like http://www.heywhatsthat.com/ for IDing peaks.

The Sierra's too far from Mt Diablo for the site to pick up most of the
peaks, but if you hit the visibility cloak button on the map, it highlights
everything that can be seen from Mt Diablo and should make the task of
identifying peaks a lot easier.

Thanks for posting! This is a GREAT site. Have you found a way to zoom the
panorama? (e.g. zoom in to an area where the peaks are very close together?)

He could divide the photograph up, but your browser's zoom (usually Ctrl
+, or Cmd +) works fine.

Miguel, thanks for the heywhatsthat site. Whenever I fly i take photos
and sometimes lose my mind with Google Earth and Map trying to figure
out what I'm looking at.

There doesn't appear to be a way to directly link to a panorama.

Go to:
http://www.heywhatsthat.com/

and in the View menu select
Mount Diablo
or
Mount Diablo panorama
