First Sierra Scramble

"Just got back from a weekend in Tuolumne Meadows
area. The weather was as fine as any weekend I spent
there this year, plus, few people (everything's closed
in Tuolumne except the roads and trails), no tough
creek crossings, no mud, and not a single
mosquito."<br><br>I was also in Tuolumne this weekend, and I concur!
<br>We went up the Cathedral Lakes
trail:<br><br><a

00-tripmap.gif</a><br><br>We camped on a high ridge above Upper Cathedral Lake
(9600') and walked up the north approach to Tressider
Peak (10620'). Up to 10,500, it was just a granite
ramp, but we had about 100' of hands-and-knees
scrambling to get to the rocky cliff that makes up the last
30-40' of the mountain. We tried approaching from the
west, but it was a bit too much. So we went around to
the south and inched 25' up a crevice with some good
handholds and got to within 10' of the top, but couldn't go
any further.<br><br>I didn't see any listing for this
mountain on the "Secor" list, but it was pretty fun. One
of the best views I've had in Yosemite, in spite of
the small maintenence ground fires that were burning
in the western part of the park. I'll post pictures
later this afternoon if all goes well.<br><br>Morgan

You must have been climbing on class 4 to get to where you did, otherwise the description would have been "class 3 with a class 4 summit block". The summit ...

Yeah, I only saw them near the lake, i.e., where the water table was relatively high. I think the volume of a given amount of water increases by 10% when it...
