From Sugar Pine Point SP campground and along General Creek from mouth at Lake
Tahoe upstream to trail crossing above loop and Lily Pond, 28 June to 03 July.
Pine Grosbeak: 4 to 6 (depending upon if a separate group of 2 was the same or
different than a group seen previously; one bird was a Hatch Year); mostly
seen/heard near second bridge crossing on loop above campground, and mostly on
south side, in "open dry meadow area"; 29 June and 02 July
Black-backed Woodpecker: 3; one territorial drumming on south side of creek
below first bridge of loop; not as common as in past after prescribed burns.
Chipping Sparrow- interesting that NONE were seen/heard while I was there.
Northern Goshawk:1-2 in creek area, hunting near bridge 2 on loop; 02 July
Band-tailed Pigeon- nest on upper loop of campground
Mountain Quail- 1-2 calling each morning, mostly from south side of creek from
upper loop of campground
Detected 67 species in state park while there.
