Shockoe Bottom is a hip area of restaurants, entertainment venues and old warehouses converted into loft apartments near the James River in Richmond, Va. Big attractions include the 17th Street Farmer's Market, the historic Main Street Train Station, the Poe Museum, the Canal Walk and pizza from Bottom's Up. The 2000 census shows that the population in the Bottom is the fastest growing in Richmond. Shockoe Bottom is also known for flooding, but we are hopeful that the latest improvements to drainage will end that problem.
