Forum for the discussion of Shinto, the national faith of Japan, affiliated to Shinto Online Network Association, an informal association of Japanese Shinto shrines with homepages on the Internet.

Discussion will center on: the theory and practice of Shinto worship, publications on Shinto, Shinto beliefs, and the Shinto worldview. Participation is welcomed from anyone with a practical or academic interest in Shinto. Fluent English is not required.

Shinto priests, those that wish to practice Shinto in the West, and academics studying Shinto are particularly encouraged to join.

The moderator will be able to relay questions to the Japanese Shinto Online Network Association mailing list, the majority of whose 500 plus members are shrine priests.

Membership of the list has recently been made subject to approval due to the appreance of spam on the list. Please mention the name of the religion discussed in this group. Anyone who is not a spammer can join.

Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, members are requested not to make categorical, objective, or harsh statements about Shinto or other religions, expressing your beliefs as your beliefs. Due to the increasing volumen and membership of the list, members are requested to mention Shinto in every post to the list, and send other responses to individual members where necessary.
