he old shinshu forum stays will continue, but I
will phase out the present mailing list to a new
address at listbot.com. My server was not able to handle
spamming filter properly and listbot.com offers more
utilities enabling users to subscribe/unsubscribe
automatically and search old postings in an archive. <br><br>It
is chaotic right now, but the changes above will
improve considerably our
forum.<br><br>Ciao,<br><br>Claude

nvitation again. I may have misunderstood it. This method
may be more cumbersome until we get used to it but it
will screen out the spam.<br>Gassho<br>Al
ear Stephen <br>as revered a D.T. Suzuki is I
would beware of anything recommending blind faith. How
many cultists have been caught in that trap. Shin is
no cult and like the Buddha Shinran would say not to
accept anything just because he said it, but because you
find the truth in it for yourself. That is why he said
he had no disciples (Tannisho)<br><br>The issue
which I have mentioned before is the point preceding
faith. We live in a world of competing truth claims and
benefit claims. We have to clarify what it is in Shin
Buddhism that provides meaning for people. One can be
contented inside the faith as many people are in their own
traditions. That is self-complacency. I don't think Shinran
encouraged that.<br><br>Gassho<br>Al
Rick mentioned the learning curve uses the
Yahoo<br>forums...]<br><br>That's understandable, seeing as you're older
than<br>the Baby Boomers like me and the
Gen-X'ers.<br><br>It's something new, and new changes are to be feared
at first. Yes, I can practically read your mind
regarding the forum on Yahoo.<br><br>And you know what
Rick?<br><br>I am not afraid of it at all. At least I
don't<br>have to book flights and attend conferences on Shin
Buddhism, suffering from jet-lag etc.<br><br>Besides, with
6 years of PC exposure, plus 11 years previous
going from Commodore Superpets to C64s (and the steep
learning curve on 8-bit computers), I'm like a walking

eading a quote by DT Suzuki, and it's quite pertinent to
my life. If no one minds the blog, here's the
quote:<br><br>"For the average man on the street, the most practical
and ready approach to Shin will be to<br>take
everything told to him by its teachers as gospel truth and
by blindly following it one day he<br>will awaken to
its truth and understand it in its own light. The
will to believe will naturally take<br>him where he
ought to be. It is, therefore, said that "do not ask
questions, for their solution is in<br>you and not in the
mouth of the teacher" so with the most essential
question of Shin, including<br>that of the Pure Land.
<br><br>One's personal experience is the sole key to its
solution. <br><br>One simple devotee called Shoma was asked
whether or not Amida is capable of helping you<br>out of
karma. Shoma immediately answered, "you are not helped
by him". Being solely a<br>matter of personal
experience, the discussion of the matter here is an idle
business, one may<br>declare. The Christians are no doubt
similarly disposed toward questions such as are
raised<br>here. <br><br>To those who have really got into the
experience of Shin or in fact of any genuine
religious<br>Faith, all those discussions are much ado about nothing.
Thus, the problem of the existence of<br>Amida
Buddhaand the existence of His Pure Land for the faithful
devotee is no problem at all."<br><br>Gassho
think this is a good idea. Although with the
email the messages are easier to keep track of, they
can pile up and there is a lot of maintenance
involved. I think with use, this will work
well.<br><br>Gassho,<br>Evelyn
think this will be a great place to setup the
forum....I like the idea of being able to chat with folks,
too! If someone will set a time (Eastern Standard
Time) then the rest of us can count up or downthe hours
and join in....
he old way still works. I just included this
Web-based board so people who dont like to use E-mail could
have a place to discuss as well.<br><br>If you want to
continue to participate in E-mail discussions DO NOT
FORGET to answer the verification E-mail from listbot.

i, folks,<br>It's going to take me a while to
get used to this form. I like the old email system
better because it's easier to open and navigate in. Easy
to answer messages too - this way I have to type my
subject, and the idea of this message going into a
permanent on-line archive storage is a bit unsettling. I
hope we can keep the old Shinshu Forum going.
<br>gassho,<br>Rick
nice feature of this web service is a chat room
that enable people to exchange ideas online in
real-time. I am accepting suggestions about an official time
where if anyone coming to here would know the
probability to have a chat would be bigger...
he old one (by E-mail) will continue through a
service I setup at listbot. You should be receiving an
E-mail saying: <br>You have been asked to join Shinshu
Forum<br><br>YOU MUST ANSWER THIS Mail to join the Mailing list .
Otherwise, if you dont like E-mail traffic you may come to
this forum, but the Messages are not
interchangable.<br><br>If you did not receive the announcement from
listbot, please let me know and I send you another
invitation by E-mail.
