Our online calendar:
Troop 224 is
Sherwood's oldest Boy Scout troop, with a long-standing tradition of developing our local boys into strong leaders, model citizens, and avid outdoorsmen. We are sponsored by the
Tri-County Gun
Club and have an active membership of approximately 35 boys.
Our troop strongly believes that the primary purpose of Boy Scouts is to develop boy leaders, and to that end we are a boy-led troop. Every six months the boys elect a senior patrol leader (SPL) who is in effect the "CEO" of the troop. The rest of the boys are organized into patrols of 5-8 boys (a patrol is sort of like a Cub Scout den, but with mixed ages) and each patrol elects one boy to be their Patrol Leader (PL). The SPL and the PLs form the Patrol Leader Council (PLC) and meet
at least once a month to plan the programs and activities for the coming
months.
We are a very active troop, with at least one outing scheduled every month and meetings every Monday at 7pm (except for some holidays). We meet at the Gun Club facility but from time to time will meet at Friends Church.
