Gay Pride season is around the corner. This year Sher Vancouver is going to
focus on "Celebration and Liberation."

The theme of our South Asian Float for the 2009 Vancouver Pride Parade will be
to celebrate the legalization of gay rights in India by the Delhi High Court.
This court ruling overturns a 150 year old colonial law that has been used to
discriminate, harass, and deny gays and lesbians basic freedoms for far too
long.

Sher will recognize the role that Bollywood has played in achieving these rights
by having a Bollywood themed float with Bollywood music and decorations. Recent
gay themed films such as DOSTANA have helped change social attitudes in India
and South Asia.

Sher Vancouver is a social support group for gay, lesbian, bisexual,
transgender, and intersex South Asians and their friends, families, and allies.
Sher provides peer support, social activites, information, referral, and
outreach presentations.
Sher has over 225 members on its two web based groups. For more information on
