The Shanghai BookCrossers group has informal meet-ups for bookcrossers and other avid readers in Shanghai, where we talk and swap mostly English-language books. Shanghai BookCrossers was inspired by the concept of BookCrossing (if you're unfamiliar with BookCrossing, please take a look at www.bookcrossing.com). Anyone who loves to read and share books is welcome to join in.
We meet on the third Saturday of each month at 2pm, until about 3pm. Joining in is free, fun and easy. Our most recent meeting was on February 24th at Figaro Coffee Company, with around 15 people picking the favorites from at least 60 books on the table.
Meet-ups -- The next meet-up is scheduled for SATURDAY JULY 21 at 2pm, at FIGARO Coffee Company. For the next months, we're expecting to meet on August 18 and September 15.
Directions -- Figaro is on 160 Xingye Lu near Madang Lu, in a block called Jin Lin Tian Di, next to Xin Tian Di. If you see the Ferrari shop (opposite Simply Thai), walk into the side street just next to it - that's Xingye Lu. The nearest metro station is Huangpi on line 1, with exits on Huai Hai Lu. If you need help finding your way, give the friendly Figaro people a call at 6384-7242. Figaro Coffee gives a 10% discount to BookCrossers at the meetings.
Official BookCrossing Zones -- Shanghai now has a fifth Official BookCrossing Zone (OBCZ), smack in the middle of the Nanjing Lu Central Business District.
