I found this great site that streams lots of tv shows, not bad
quality or in pieces like YouTube.
It had shows I couldn't find anywhere else like Hulu or cbs.com etc.
I had missed a few episodes of shows like Cold Case,
Criminal Minds, Ugly Betty, The Middle, Eastwick, etc. and the
network pages only had certain episodes, not the ones I was missing.
http://casttv.com
A lot of their videos are hosted at http://www.wisevid.com
so I am not sure if that's the same site or what.
I hope it is legal and they don't shut it down...

She did not play a part in the show. The show used a clip of Spartacus in an
episode (Academy of Performing Bards) and Simmons was it.

This TV is one of the didital sub-channels I watch the most. I've noticed
they usually have something SF or Fantasy related before Stargate SG-1 on
Sunday. Kudos to the programing department on this one. I just wish they
had the classic Outer Limits right after Stargate SG-1.
In the Salt Lake City metro area This TV is found on KUTV Ch 2.2

For those of you with FiOS in the Boston area, I found This TV on channel
460. It's obviously a local redistribution, because the logo bug in the
lower right says "This Boston". This TV must be a relatively recent addition
to the channel lineup, because it's not in the printed channel guide from
this past March.

I understand that there are two versions - the original that was released on
DVD, and a version with upgraded effects that will be broadcast as the
series premiere. I've already watched the DVD version (it was OK, but not
quite what I was expecting, even after reading the online chatter), and I'm
going to also watch the upgraded version when it airs. But I hope the series
improves as it goes along.

Hi Suzanne,

No - It was thirty years ago today that Sgt Pepper Taught
The Band to Play... ;)
Thank heaven for Gene Roddenberry's vision of tomorrow...
I watched the originals live - that old am I (Oops, wrong movie)
and then I ran the TNG shows out of WPIX Ch11 (now WB) head end
studios (yes, I was the one who saved the show when the video
tape broke mid-show 1989 by grabbing the snapped 1" tape and
wrapping it, as quickly as possible, back around the VTR heads
and re-starting it all within 45secs - no mean feat)
One of the Techs said "but you've destroyed the tape" - as if it
wasn't already.. ;)
Thanx - Just wanted to reminisce,

Star Trek Lives
Monday, December 7, 2009
by Michael_Okuda
It was thirty years ago today that Star Trek was reborn with the
theatrical release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Gene
Roddenberry's vision of tomorrow had been regarded as a failed
network show when it first aired in the late 1960s. But thanks to an
unprecedented groundswell of fan support - spurred by the popularity
of
the show's syndicated reruns - Star Trek returned in grand style in
its
first big-budget feature film.
Of course, Star Trek: The Motion Picture itself got off to a rocky
start. The idea of a Star Trek movie had been floating around
Paramount for years, but no one could agree on a script. Finally,
the
studio decided to launch a new television network that would feature
adventures of James Kirk and his crew on the Starship Enterprise in
a
modestly-budgeted new show to be titled Star Trek: Phase II. The
series was greenlit, scripts were written, the cast was hired
(everyone
except Leonard Nimoy), and sets were built. But at the last moment,
the
studio pulled the plug. Instead, Paramount announced that the
planned
two-hour premiere movie of Phase II would be upgraded to become a
major
motion picture under the guidance of legendary film director Robert
Wise. It seemed that Paramount had finally realized Star Trek's
powerful appeal, and was now willing to throw its full support
behind
Roddenberry's creation.
Suddenly, what was to have been a low-budget telefilm was getting
first-class treatment. The Enterprise got a spectacular facelift,
inside and out. Leonard Nimoy even agreed to join the cast. But
production was anything but smooth. Frequent script revisions kept
the
shooting company in turmoil, and problems with visual effects
threatened to derail the production. Fortunately, at the last
minute,
visual effects heavy-hitters Douglas Trumbull (of 2001 and Close
Encounters) and John Dykstra (Star Wars) stepped up to the plate.
Their work was amazing, but it sent the film's budget even further
into
the stratosphere.
During the production, Gene Roddenberry concocted a brilliant plan to
thank the fans for their support by actually casting them as
Enterprise
crew members in one scene in the film. Denise somehow managed to
wrangle an invitation to be an extra in that famous Rec Deck scene.
She even got to be a Vulcan! She's only in the wide shots, way off
to
the side, so you can't really see her in the final film (I've
tried!).
But Denise knows she's really there, a member of the Enterprise
crew!
(There's another female Vulcan in the scene, who's much more visible
in
the foreground. Denise is emphatic that she wouldn't have wrung her
hands in anguish because she knows that Vulcans are supposed to be
emotionless.)
I didn't work on the film - this was years before I moved to Los
Angeles - but a few years ago, I got to make a tiny contribution to
one
shot in the Director's Edition. You may recall that just before his
passing, director Robert Wise decided that he wanted to revisit the
film, to finally make some of the tweaks that weren't possible in
1979.
Director's Edition producers David Fein and Michael Matessino had
asked me to do a "text commentary" for the DVD. One day, while
visiting their production office, visual effects supervisor Daren
Dochterman showed me the revised matte painting of future San
Francisco. Seeing the visual effects work in progress was one of the
coolest things about the project, mainly because Daren and company
worked so hard to remain faithful to the style established by the
original effects artists.
Anyway, San Francisco was cool, but I noted that Gene Roddenberry had
specifically called for the city to have much more vegetation than it
does today. I was thrilled when Daren and VFX artist Adam "Mojo"
Leibowitz agreed to let me tweak their matte painting to add a little
more greenery to the future city. It's just a few pixels here and
there, but we all felt it a cool way to respect Roddenberry's
wishes.
(Also part of the matte painting is a number of CGI buildings
created
by Doug Drexler, based on the 1964 World's Fair!) Star Trek: The
Motion
Picture premiered on December 7, 1979. Critical reaction was
decidedly
mixed, and even fan reviews were guarded at best. But it had been
over
ten years since the original series had been cancelled. During that
very long drought, Star Trek had grown enormously in popularity, and
fan anticipation was at an all-time high. And there was no doubt
that
despite its flaws, Star Trek: The Motion Picture was something very
special. It was a film that was made because the fans had demanded
it.
Fans saw that Wise, Roddenberry, and company had delivered in
spectacular fashion, and they responded by making Star Trek: The
Motion
Picture one of Paramount's biggest-grossing films ever.
In the words of the fans, Star Trek lives!

I don't know if this was posted earlier or not...it's from Nov. 3
Shel Dorf, founder of Comic- Con
passed away.
Many of the STAR member knew him well and we part of the beginnings
of
the con.
RIP Shel.
He was very nice to me when I was a little girl, hanging out at the
early Comicons...

In one of the questions in Ask Ausiello: Spoilers column,
It states;
Question: Have we seen the last of Charlie on Fringe?
Ausiello: Exec producer Jeff Pinkner isn’t ruling a comeback out. “We’ve
already met Charlie’s doppelganger in the alternate reality,” he says.
“He still exists.” Adds fellow e.p. J.H. Wyman: “No one ever really dies
on Fringe.” BTW, Pinkner insists the exit of Kirk Acevedo’s G-man was
strictly a creative decision and not a reflection on the actor himself
(despite that whole Facebook debacle). “We wanted to take our team out
of the FBI office and a little bit more underground,” he says, “and
Charlie was a [casualty] of that.”
My question is, does anybody remember this? Is it from last season? I've
seen this statement before about Charlie, but I can't recall when we
saw him in the alternate reality?

Oh, missed a new listing!...
KCOP 9.1 has apparently dropped "Dead Like Me" from their Sunday
Midnight (Monday 12AM) spot, and is instead showing the last re-creation
of "The Outer Limits" starting tonight!
"Caught in the Act" airs tonight, and "Resurrection" will air Mon. 10/5
at 12AM (AKA Sun. night if you're still up).
Several months ago they ran "Jeremiah" in that slot for a lousy 2
episodes in the middle of the series somewhere, which is all that I know
has aired on broadcast TV in the LA Metro area.
Before that they had Stargate SG-1 in that slot, then flipped in Dead
Like Me, and then put it back after Jeremiah.
I wish they'd make-up their mind - and preferably air all of them! ;)
FWIW, "The Legend of the Seeker" in the L.A./Orange Counties metro area
of CA gets a move in day & time (again) on KTLA 5.1...
Starting today, Sun., 9/27, the first broadcast is at 4pm Sundays, with
the repeat the FOLLOWING Sunday morning at 1am (AKA Sat. night).
So, today's airing of "Sacrifice" at 4pm will be repeated at 1am
(MORNING) 10/4. (If you're still up at that hour, think of it as Sat.
night, but your video recorder will need to know it's Sun. AM.)
Also, if you hadn't noticed, KTLA 5.1 has stopped showing "Star Trek",
but it still lives on KDOC 56.1 at 10pm Mon.-Fri.
And "Star Trek: TNG" has been airing for a short while now on KTLA 5.1
at 12:30AM Mon.-Fri. NIGHTS (that's really Tue.-Sat. MORNING to your
video recorder). -They appear to be jumping around in order, but did
start with the 2-part series opener, at least. (They've aired season 1
& 2 eps., jumped to 3, and back so far.)
One of my fav's., "Contagion", will air this Wed. at 12:30am (or Tue.
night if you're still up). That's the one about finding an Ikonian outpost.
Also "Stargate Atlantis" is still firm on KCAL 9.1, airing at 11pm
Sundays. -Last week was the season 5 opener, and "The Seed" is tonight
at 11pm.
FYI also... KDOC 56.1 SOMETIMES airs "Night Gallery" at 3 or 4am...
And still airs the "Twilight Zone" weeknights as well, usually at 11pm.
