A faculty member in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF
is looking for a volunteer to work as a research assistant in the field for a study
entitled: “A Direct Observation Study of Patient-Provider Communication About
Contraception.”
The research assistant will work on a team with other researchers running this
study in clinics throughout the Bay Area. Their responsibilities will include coordination
with clinic staff, recruitment of patients in clinics, obtaining informed
consent, administration of surveys, and the oversight of audiotaping the patients’ visit.
This position involves a significant amount of interaction with patients, clinic staff
and providers. It also provides excellent experience in clinical research and a
clinical setting. Students who show a dedication to medicine, and women’s health
in particular, are encouraged to apply. DO NOT apply for this opportunity unless
you can commit 6 months (10 hours/week) of service.
