SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA and WEST COAST LETTERPRESS PRINTERS GUILD

This is an open access network of hobby and commercial letterpress printers who are located in and around the San Francisco Bay Area or the West Coast of the United States (California, Oregon, Washington), and those from anywhere else in the world who have an interest or curiosity about letterpress printing.

The art and craft of letterpress relief printing is over five hundred years old and involves the use of hand set lead-alloy metal type characters, machine set metal type, wood type, carved or etched plates of wood, linoleum, metal, or photopolymer, all inked and pressed on to paper.

The purpose of this group list is to provide an easy way to communicate with letterpress printers about any topic related to letterpress printing, including best practices, supplies, and equipment. This network is also a way to keep the art and craft of letterpress printing alive and well in the San Francisco Bay Area and the West Coast.

The group is completely open to allow anyone and everyone to participate. There are no dues, no fees, and no meetings to attend...just a lot of great group communication via the internet about an art, craft and skill that we all enjoy.
