This is from all points East of Route 17:

Take your best route to Route 4 West. Take Route 4 West until you reach Route 208. Route 4 forks, the right half turns into Route 208. Continue. You will come to Maple Ave. Go under the overpass, and make the Right (GO SLOWLY!) You will now follow the loop back up and over Route 208, towards the Toyota dealership. Immediately after the overpass, make a Right onto the frontage road, which is Elm Ave. At the stop sign, make a left (you can't go straight, and right puts you back on Route 208). At the end of this road (Harristown Rd.) is a 'T' intersection. Make a right onto Lincoln Ave. There is immediately a light. Make a Left at this light onto Diamond Bridge Road. Follow this to the next light. You will be making a Right here, onto Lafayette. Follow through the next light. You will see the sign for the Wachovia bank on the right. The church is across the street on the left. Park in the lot, and cross around the front and go down the stairs on the side of the church. Here we be!

From West NJ:

Take your best route to Route 208 South. Follow Route 208 to Goffle Road Exit. Make a right onto Goffle, heading towards Paterson. At Lafayette Ave, make a Left. Follow Lafayette. When you pass Rea Ave on the Right, begin looking for the Church, on the Right.

Hi All!

Just a reminder that Lady Katherine and I will be hosting a "House
Filk" here on Sunday Dec 13th

Confirmed attendees include Robert Rowgo(The Rec-Room Rhymes Tapes,
CD's and songbooks as well as more recent CD's), Lord Andrew McRobb
and "Technician to the Conventions" Harold Stein() who will hopefully
get permission from all performers to produce a CD of the event.

If you have any questions if you are at the right place, just look
for the trebuchet in the backyard :D

Here is a re-send of the announcement:

We down a bit on the jersey coast would like to invite you to join us
Sunday December 13th from noon to 8pm to sing and make merry! I have
invited George Carmichael AKA Lord Andrew Stewart McRobb of the SCA
and he has agreed, health permitting.

For those of you who are not familiar with Andrew, he has been active
musically writing lyrics and some music for parodies and some serious
subjects of an SCA or Medieval nature for the last two plus decades.
Our home can fit more than we can seat which I have seen as a trend
in house filks >:) We have seating for 20(which will be crowded). We
will be providing snacks, including Kosher(new bought packets served
on new bought paper/plastic ware or in wrapper and purpose bought
plastic utensils) for the observant. I do realize this will be during
the Chanukah celebration however it was the best timing we could get.

RSVP Please.

Our home is in South Amboy, NJ one block from the South Amboy NJ
transit rail station.
We can also be reached via the Garden State Parkway(Exit 125), The
New Jersey Turnpike(Exit 11), Route 1, Route 9 and Route 287. Driving
to us from Staten Island is best coming across the Outerbridge crossing.

DIRECTIONS:
Arrival by NJ Transit Rail:
If you take the train from the North(From NYC or Newark NJ) you can
take trains from Penn Station(NYC or
Newark) on the "North Jersey Coast" line to station South Amboy. If
you are coming from Trenton(or
services connecting there) you will need to come north to the Rahway
station and then switch trains.
Once you arrive in South Amboy, look to see if you are on the station
side or not. If you are on the
Station side, you need to cross sides.
There are foot-bridges north(more modern) and South(older) of the
station itself. Once on the correct
side, turn your back to the rails and walk(via an alley or nearby
road) to Broadway, South Amboy's main
road. Once on Broadway, cross the far side of Broadway and look left
and right for a green and white
sign for "Amboy National Bank".
This sign marks the corner of David Street and Broadway. Go to that
intersection and follow David
Street(there is only one way) to house number 263 on your left. Thats us.

Arrival by Road:
North:
NJ Turnpike:
Take the best route to the Turnpike south. Go to exit 11 and pay the
toll. Follow the signs to Route
9 South. This will put you on NJ Route 9 south over the Raritain
river. Follow from *** below

Garden State Parkway
Take the best route to the Parkway south. Go to exit 129 and follow
the signs to Route 9 South. This
will put you on NJ Route 9 south
over the Raritain river. Follow from *** below
Outerbridge Crossing: Once you cross the OBC you are on Route 440.
Follow that until you see signs for
Route 9 South. Once you are on Route 9 South, Follow from *** below.
South:
NJ Turnpike:
Take the best route to the Turnpike North. Go to exit 10 and pay the
toll. Follow signs to Route
440 towards Perth Amboy. Once on 440, follow signs to Route 9 South.
This will put you on NJ Route 9
south over the Raritain river. Follow from *** below
Garden State Parkway
Take the Parkway north. Just past exit 120 there is a rest
area(Cheesequake Rest area), take the
exit into that rest area. Go to the northern parking area and pass to
the north end where there is
an exit onto a local road. This is Bordentown Road. Turn right onto
Bordentown and pass under the
Parkway and then, after some distance, under Route 35. Once under Rt
35 you will see a foodtown
and then pass through one full traffic light before coming to a
blinking light. The blinking light
is the intersection of Bordentown and Stevens. Turn left here onto
Stevens. Once on Stevens, pass
the intersections for George, John and Henry to Stevens and David.
Turn right there and go to the third house from the corner on the
right, number 263. Thats us.

*** Once over the river, be prepared to take the very first exit off
the foot of the bridge. When you
come to the light at the end of the ramp you want to be in the right
most of the two left lanes.
Turn left at the light and stay to the left until under Route 9, then
move to the right at the
light you are approaching. At the light, turn right onto Main
Street(yes, it looks pretty
desolate). You will pass through one more light almost immediately
and then some distance before
three more lights.
The third light is Main Street and Stevens Avenue. Turn left here.
Follow Stevens through one
traffic light to the very next intersection.
This is Stevens and David. WARNING: There is no street sign for David
where it hits Stevens.
Just remember that is the next intersection after the light you pass
through. Turn left at this
intersection. We are the third house on the right, number 263.

RSVP Please

Might I suggest expanding the invite to say, Iron Bog, Carrillon and Bhakail?
I'd be more than happy to help you both in the sessions. I think it would be a
pretty cool thing to get more people into period tentage at camping events.

BTW, are you guys going to the bhakail yule this saturday?

Lady Cordelia & I will be hosting a yurt building workshop at our home in the
spring.
Building & owning a yurt takes a lot of commitment. Please be sure that you can
handle all of this before you start this project.

$$$ - When we built our yurt for Pennsic 36, we spent about $400.00 in
materials. I recommend that you budget $500 or so in case costs have risen.

Time - It took Cordelia & I about four days to build the yurt with assistance
from Quinn & Cordelia's father (mundane -not King Lear). We're planning to have
the yurt building workshop on four weekends during March, April & May so that we
can have a shake down at Quest.

BYO Sewing Machine - We have all of the needed tools except for a sewing
machine. We made our roof & side curtains from painters drop cloth which is a
fairly light weight canvas. If you have access to a sewing machine that can sew
through a pair of jeans, you are covered. I think that Panther Primitives may
sell yurt coverings, but that will obviously raise your costs.

Storage & Transport - the khana is eight feet long & weighs about one hundred
pounds. The roof rafters are also about 8 feet long, but they are lighter. The
400 square foot roof canvas weighs about seventy-five pounds. You are going to
need to be able to store your yurt somewhere dry & transport it to camp
yourself. Cordelia & I transport the yurt on top of her Escape, so any SUV or
wagon should be able to handle it.

Set up & strike - It is not recommended that one person try to set up a yurt.
Make sure you have a good partner.

If I have not scared you off yet, please take a look at my yurt building site
here
http://web.mac. com/phall4/ Yurt_Project/ Welcome.html
Building the yurt was great fun, camping in the yurt is excellent.
Drop me a note either from this list, or through my web site if you want to join
us this spring.

Yours in service,
Lady Cordelia an' & Winston a' Bhethir

Not to say that the can't be set up alone, it's just a lot tougher, and it helps
to have prehensile toes. :)

http://stnelson.com/images/shaun/shaunnelson%20-%2003.jpg
That's prolly from '97 or so.

Anyway, I heartily suggest that those who have the means, camp in a yurt.
Nothing is as secure from the elements as they. And having the help of a person
that's built a solid, successful yurt from a good design is an awesome starting
point.

If I have not scared you off yet, please take a look at my yurt building site
here
http://web.mac.com/phall4/Yurt_Project/Welcome.html
Building the yurt was great fun, camping in the yurt is excellent.
Drop me a note either from this list, or through my web site if you want to join
us this spring.

Yours in service,
Lady Cordelia an' & Winston a' Bhethir

My next gaming gnight will be held on, Friday, December 4th, 2009, on
the 1ST FRIDAY as usual, 7:30 PM until people want to go home.

Some crash space available, too, if gaming goes way into the gnight (as
it usually does). Bring a sleeping bag just in case if you plan on
staying. I don't plan to sell at an event the following day, though I
may go. Could be a late one....

Food, fun, fraternizing, and fracas for free! There'll be all kinds of
medieval games like chess, go and backgammon, all kinds of modern games
like Risk (regular, LOTR, or 2210), Nuclear
War/Escalation/Proliferation, Scattergories, Scrabble, Trivial
Pursuit-like games, Apples to Apples and anything in between, like
Knightmare Chess, Cathedral, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico and Settlers of
Catan. Okay, so nobody's ever brought a Battlebot to the
mini-Battlebots tourney. Fine. I guess I win by default. :+)

Got your own favorite games? Bring a pile of 'em! You all know me,
I'll play anything. Got some friends who like playing games? Bring a
pile of 'em, I'll play with anyone, I'm not picky! Got some favorite
foods or snacks? Bring 'em on, too! I'll have some real food and
drink here - but be warned, I have a hot sauce collection and I'm not
afraid to use it. There'll also be chocolate.....

Want to buy some games? Galen's Game Gnight is In Business!! Come
play! Come buy! Try out a game I have open as a demo, buy a new one
if you like it! Want to try something? Let me know in advance, I can
order it ahead of time.

See here for more info about Medieval Gaming Gnight:

Need directions to my home? Go here:

<http://rustedwoodlands.eastkingdom.org/directions.html> and look for
the right set of directions.

My address is 20 Quaker Ave., Cornwall, NY 12518 My # is 845-534-8187
if you get lost. My cell # is 845-728-5652 if the landline is busy.

Please RSVP if you're coming! Please RSVP if you want to be removed
from this distribution list.

Thank you.

Greetings one and all.

I am the Baronial marshal for rattan combat in Endless Hills.
I have joined your yahoo group to foster communications between our groups,
including the ability to cross post information about events and practices.

To that end, this is a quick teaser to let you know that we will once again be
involved in the Scranton PA St. Patricks Day Parade.
We are looking to swell the ranks of our participants to include SCA folks from
all over.
This is a televised parade, and in fact is one of the largest St. Patricks day
parades in the world.

The date for the parade is March 13, 2010.

We're seeking walkers
Authorized fighters, fencers and Equestrians,
Parade float wavers (stand/sit on the float and wave to the crowds)
and ideas to make our presence in the parade more grand.

Please contact me if you are interested in joining us for the day.

We would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. We look forward
seeing those of you who can make the trip to the Allentown Art Museum on Sunday.
There will be no Flemington practices during December but we will start back up
in January. The first practice in January will also be a Swamp holiday get
together, more details on that coming soon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello to anyone living in Hudson County, NJ:

As you all know we live in Unclaimed Crown Lands. I am attempting to take
an informal head count of any SCAdians living in Hudson County, because I am
curious to know the following:

1. If we have enough bodies to form an official group or one kind or
another, be it a shire or a canton (assuming one of our neighboring groups
wants to claim/adopt us). We need 5 paid members to form a canton or shire.

2. And even if we do have enough paid SCA members living in Hudson County
who are interested/active enough to makes this happen. Out of those 5
people we need 3 officers. A seneschal, an exchequer, and one more
(Marshall, A&S, or Herald).

http://www.sca.org/docs/pdf/govdocs.pdf

So before I do something nuts like request an address list to do an official
polling, I would like to get a general feeling about whether or not we even
have the manpower and interest to accomplish whatever our eventual goal may
be.

So, if you do live in Hudson County, please drop me a line and any
comments/suggestions positive or negative you may have to oriquilt at gmail
dot com.

Please feel free to forward this on to any interested parties or lists etc.

Thank you

We now return to our regularly scheduled madness.

(who probably has WAY TOO MUCH time on her hands to even consider opening
this can of worms)

PS. To any recent transplantees. You live in Hudson County NJ, if you live
in one of the towns on this map:
