The International Sephardic Discussion Group is an Internet based group of members who discuss (through an email list) issues pertaining to the Sephardim, past and present. We do not talk about religion on this list. Issues and topics may include Sephardic oriented:
World history, genealogy, surnames, Ladino, stories, culture, holidays, events, and other discussion. The majority of the conversation are in english, but everyone is welcome.
Topics usually revolve around the Judeo-Spanish/Judeo-Arabic Sephardim of the [Turkish] Ottoman Empire and all of its former territories, the Balkans, the Holy Land and Lost Communities, Pre and Post expulsion Iberia, Gibraltar and the North African Communities.
We will also talk about modern Sephardic leadership ; politics in Erets Israel and the Diaspora from time to time. The list is moderated 24/6 (closed for Shabbat and Yom Tov), and follows traditional Judaism ideals.
You can sign up to receive multiple individual messages as they are posted throughout the day, or sign up for the digest, which will deliver to your mailbox, one larger combined email of the daily messages. We encourage you to sign up and say hello, or just sit back and read the postings. This Jewish list is operated by the International Sephardic Leadership Council, it was founded in 1998.
Our Sephardic community ranks as #24 out of 1093 Judaism groups at Yahoo! (12/10/03)
