All details are available here:

Some of you already know about it, and are coming to this years one.
* It's on the 12th and 13th December 2009 at the Arnolfini Arts Centre in
Bristol.
* It's an unconference about Knowledge in all it's varieties. This year will
have more focus than last year as it has this subtitle "The Art of Knowledge".
* This year it will be an unCraftivism event, which is part of the Craftivism
exhibition ( http://www.craftivism.net/ ) at the Arnolfini - which attempts to
merge art and technology. It will be running simultaneously alongside events by
Dorkbot, the Bristol Robotics Lab, and a few others.
We hope that some more Semantic Web and Linked Data people come. Some of you
came last year, and it'll be great to get some more of you - to boost the SemWeb
perspective.
We do need more people to say "yes, I will give a talk/discussion/demo/game", we
also need attendees and we also need to get the word out (blogs, tweets,
word-of-mouth, emails etc etc etc). You can add your name to the list on the
website if you want to come (although you don't need to add your name):
http://www.craftivism.net/wiki/UnCraftivism/Bristol_Knowledge_Unconference_2009
If you have any queries, questions, comments or suggestions then I would be
interested in hearing them.
I look forward to hearing from you soon, and hopefully seeing you in December!
Many many thanks,
Daniel

I'm interested but am not expecting to be able to make Thursday. I don't know how this works so would it be practical for me to go just on Friday? or is it a must to go for both days?

Hi all,
There are a few places remaining for VoCampBristol2009 [1], on Thursday and Friday this week at the ILRT, Bristol Uni. If you've never been to a VoCamp before, or never heard of the concept, they were born out of a realisation that "Continued growth of the Web of Data/Semantic Web is heavily dependent on the availability of vocabularies/ontologies that can be used to publish data."
From the VoCamp site [2]:
"VoCamp is a series of informal events where people can spend some dedicated time creating lightweight vocabularies/ontologies for the Semantic Web/Web of Data. The emphasis of the events is not on creating the perfect ontology in a particular domain, but on creating vocabs that are good enough for people to start using for publishing data on the Web."
So, if you're interested in getting your hands dirty with creating some RDF vocabularies for publishing that data set you've had your eye on, sign up and come along on Thursday and Friday. It's free, lunch included!
Hi all,
There are a few places remaining for VoCampBristol2009 [1], on
Thursday and Friday this week at the ILRT, Bristol Uni. If you've
never been to a VoCamp before, or never heard of the concept, they
were born out of a realisation that "Continued growth of the Web of
Data/Semantic Web is heavily dependent on the availability of
vocabularies/ontologies that can be used to publish data."
From the VoCamp site [2]:
"VoCamp is a series of informal events where people can spend some
dedicated time creating lightweight vocabularies/ontologies for the
Semantic Web/Web of Data. The emphasis of the events is not on
creating the perfect ontology in a particular domain, but on creating
vocabs that are good enough for people to start using for publishing
data on the Web."
So, if you're interested in getting your hands dirty with creating
some RDF vocabularies for publishing that data set you've had your eye
on, sign up and come along on Thursday and Friday. It's free, lunch
included!

Hello Group!
Had a meeting with Ian the other day and he pointed me here.Looks like
the list is picking up steam. Lots of familar names and faces - just a
quick introduction and perhaps update for some of you.
I am currently with Nokia and still with strong interest in Semantic
Web. Happily, my current employer is on it's way to reinventing
themselves as internet services company and it looks like some of the
semweb standards will play an important part, internally at first
(although we are thinking about exposing some of the music-related
datasets).
The subjects I would be interested in (mostly enterprisey stuff):
- Web scale rdf stores, high-availability. Higher level data
management facilities (beyond contexts/graphs names - views, etc.);
- tools for ontology coordination, management and instance data
cleaning, de-duplication, etc. easy enough for those who don't get
Description Logics;
- Higher-level (above triple/quad level) frameworks for developing
software against rdf/ontologies - specifically persistence and REST
services frameworks.
etc...
That's it, talk to you soon.
Cheers,
Tomasz
This came up on Monday - with this list having some life recently, it's
clear people may have some old addresses set up.
With Y!, if you send from a different address to which you receive email
from the list, you have to pre-register the sending address. For
example, I have to receive email in HP via a special route into HP
because Y! servers are black listed by many of the block lists and HP's
main email gateways use those block lists so throw Y! email away silently.
The list of sending address for the receiving address can be seen with:
Any group home page:
My Groups -> My Email preferences
You should see a list of email addresses:
EMail address: Edit -> "Alternate Posting Addresses"
And sw-sw has had it's own peculiarities - the configuration in the
admin interface does not align with what it does! So if you have any
problems, let me know although whether I can do anything about it is
another question entirely.
Andy
Perhaps some of you might be interested in presenting work at a British Computer Society (BCS) event? as they hold them at UWE, and Bristol University.
