Description

This listserv, moderated by Wider Opportunities for Women, will connect workforce professionals and stakeholders across the country interested in learning more about the integration of self-sufficiency and connecting with others who have the same goals for their system and community.

The public workforce system faces many challenges --- limited resources, changing economies, complex political environments, and balancing the wants of industry and the needs of their communities. To face these challenges with innovative practices, workforce boards throughout the country have successfully integrated the lens of self-sufficiency into their work.

Wider Opportunities for Women has produced a Promising Practices Guide that highlights 22 case studies of state and local WIBs that are using Self-Sufficiency Standards or similar measures as defining charateristic in their work. This guide is available at: http://www.wowonline.org/wow
