I thought I would change the thread, February is short enough already.

Snowstorm north of here tonight, we'll get a mix of snow, sleet and rain, 28
now.

I was working on the newsletter all day yesterday, I'm not sure about the logo
picture, Loyalist Roses planted by the branch, it may not work with b+w print, I
might change it.
I was reading about our branch history and found out that two members did a
needlework picture of the New Settlement a few years ago and presented it to the
nursing home in town. It would be great to get a photo of it for the logo. I can
go visit my aunt while I'm there, she's 94 and has Alzheimer's.

Just changing to snow here now, 30. Again this is the only county that has buses running. They just updated the snowstorm totals, Boston is expected to get 3 feet!

How are you doing in the blizzard Earline? So far, Conn. did not get it as bad
as predicted, at least in the parts where I have heard from. The winds were only
around 30 mph for the most part. I cannot imagine two to three feet of snow in
one storm with winds piling it up to 6' in some areas. I'll put up with my
bugs and gators here in Fla. rather then freeze to death without power. Hope
you have food stores in and keep warm.

25 here going to 29, sunny

I hope Sheri had a good birthday, I forgot that it was my blogoversary too. There were a few messages there, I'll do a blog post today to thank them.

I worked on transcribing land petitions and wrote a letter to the Dominion Genealogist to have my ancestors, Titus Doan Sr. + Jr. added to the U. E. List. Now I have to print out everything and give it to the Branch Genealogist to send.

I hope that their names will be added, although they were Quakers. The family was granted 400 acres land, 200 more for Titus Sr. and 400 for two adult sons before 1795. The Quaker immigration didn't start until after 1800 and they came in 1787 as loyalists.

Norma, we got mostly rain, what snow we did get just blew away. It was a P.A. day for the kids in our county so there was no school anyway.

There was a guy that came down from Quebec to set up a new box machine for hubby that went home early because of the storm, he'll have to come back next week to finish.

Glad to hear you didn't get any of that blizzard. Hard to believe that so much
snow fell in such a short time and more coming today. The last of winter,
ending in a bang. Weather here is a little cooler at night but the days have
been just beautiful. No humidity, nice sunshine with a little breeze.

We're getting a south wind today, it's almost 40, we need it to dry everything up before it freezes.

I've been working on the newsletter and branch stuff all morning. I have to update the mailing lists yet. I'm just waiting for the President's message and it's finished and off to be proof-read and I can relax.

63 deg. this morning with a high in the mid 70's. Pool water was warm enough
for me to go swimming yesterday. Still have the winter blanket on to keep the
night temperatures from cooling it down, but with the solar heater, the day
temp. have pushed the water up to 84 deg. I still like it a little warmer, but
enjoyed it once I got in.
We are starting to work on our newletter for the Kimberly Reunion also.
Supposed to be out by February, so we better get our fannies working. We still
need some information from the Hotel before we can finalize, but that should be
coming this week. It is always nice, once it is mailed and gone.

34 today, not as windy, a few flurries.

I just sent the newsletter to be proof-read, I hope there aren't too many errors. I still have the mailing list to update but I'll do that later.

I have my letter to the Dominion Genealogist done, transcripts all finished, just have to print them out with the petition images and give it to the Branch Genealogist to send, I've done all I can do to have them added to the U E list, if they're denied again it's final.

88 deg. yesterday and I was able to go swimming. Today it is going to rain and
the temperature is dropping again. Crazy weather.
We are still working on our newsletter for the USS Kimberly. Waiting for
additional information from the Hotel before we can finalize.
Good luck on the U E list.

Supposed to be out by February, so we better get our fannies working. We still
need some information from the Hotel before we can finalize, but that should be
coming this week. It is always nice, once it is mailed and gone.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Frosty 31, rain later, going to 43.

Thanks Norma, if I can get the decision reversed then my maternal side will have a loyalist line to prove. I am going to start organizing info together proving my descent, I have everything in my files. My mom's cousin is interested also. She sent me a will from 1850 that shows my ancestors' relationships before the census came out. That's the only record to connect me to the first generation born here. After that I have censuses, announcements and obituaries.

Forgot it was Valentine's Day - just another day here. Rained all day and
raining again this morning. Temp. going down to the low 40's tonight. Very
unusual for this time of the year, especially when it was 88 two days ago. I
expect that this cold week-end will be the beginning of the spring season. I
have to watch the temp.s closely tonight as the maple trees and oaks we planted
have new buds coming out and a freeze could kill them. I can cover them to
protect the buds if necessary. Have to check other shrubs as well.
We got an animal in our garage two days ago and had trouble getting rid of it.
I have shelves in the garage for food storage. We shop Sam's Club and buy in
bulk so the shelves are handy unloading the supplies. This animal was knocking
things off the shelves and getting in trouble. The feces he left, indicated it
was either a cat or very large rat. After I found a box of cereal gnawed on, we
decided it must be a rat. We set a large trap, we used in the past to catch
cats and racoons but the critter out smarted the trap. Might have been too
small to trip the release. Anyway, it appeared he was trying to get out, but
would not do so during the daylight and we always keep the garage closed at
night, so last night we left the door open about a foot and he is now gone. No
sign of him anymore. Will have to be more careful leaving the door open during
the early evening hours, because that is when we believe he came in. In the
past, my neighbors cat used to rummage around in the garage, we can count on
snakes coming in if we do not treat the entrance way with moth balls or
"snake-away". Moth balls work great.

Cloudy, about 30, some flurries.

Norma, we only keep our bird seed in the garage and last winter was the first time we found droppings from mice, there's a few feral cats around that take care of them.

What a coincidence that a meteorite hit Russia the same day an asteroid is going by.

Very cold tonight, down in the mid to low 30's. I have to make sure to cover
some plants, especially those that think summer was here and are budding.
Calling for high winds and rain today, so hope to get out early and get my jobs
done before it all hits.
No sign of anything in my garage anymore, so I think the critter left the same
way he came. No evidence of it for two days.
We have a lot of stray cats in the area, but I don't think they are feral, I
believe they belong to someone. I've notice that a lot of neighbors keep a cat
to keep out the snakes, and whatever. We have a resident hawk that covers the
area checking for snakes all the time. I wish he would find mine a little more
often. This year I had three pigmy rattlers find their way into my Florida
room. One little small break in the weatherstripping on the door and they
found it. Until Geo. gets that fixed, I am keeping moth balls around the door
area.
Amazing what damage that meteorite did in Russia, we are fortunate, it could
have happened anywhere.

Norma, I'm not sure whether the cats in our neighbourhood are feral or neglected but they use my front garden for a litter box and tear up any garbage bags we put out at night. They stalked the birds when I had the feeder in the side yard. They don't go in the back yard because of the dogs.

I have to go to the printer's this afternoon, just updating my mailing list, it's getting smaller, a few members died and a few more didn't renew their membership and a couple changed to electronic.

I used to have the same problem with my neighbors cat. She would hide in my
hibiscus bushes and watc
h my bird bath and then pounch on them. I got tired of finding her droppings
when working in my flower bed, so we finally bought a trap and trapped her.
Took her to the local animal control center and it managed to escape in
transferring it from our cage to their cage. Never saw the cat again. That
one also prowled in our garage. I told my neighbor she should keep her cat
home, that it might eat or ingest something dangerous in our garage like
antifreeze or something. Her response was, "Keep your Garage closed".
I spent the last two afternoons helping a golfing friend of hubby's get his
computer fixed. He downloaded some of those pc fix's that you see advertised
in order to help speed up his sick computer. It was sluggish and loaded with
spam, malware and hijackers plus a few Trojans. I uninstalled four programs he
didn't need, was able to install spybot and that cleaned up 53 malwares, trojans
etc. He couldn't get on aol, so I uninstalled that but now it won't let me
reinstall a newer version. Keeps telling me that something is running and
Ihave to close that before it will install. Must have a program on it, I
missed that is still giving him malware. I am going back again this afternoon
to give it one more try, and then if I don't have any luck, he will just have to
pay someone to get it fixed. He is his own worst enemy when it comes to that
computer. We do have it running faster and got rid of a bunch of pop up ads.
Just have to get his aol running and he will be happy. I showed him how to get
his email through IE on Aol, so at least he is working, just inconvienent.
36 very cold deg. this morning.

17, high of 40 later tonight, rain overnight tonight.

My grandson had his first paying gig on Friday, he's a pro now.

I wrote an article about appealing my Quaker ancestors' UEL decision for the newsletter to fill up the page and I've been corresponding with Stephen Davidson (he has articles in the Loyalist Trails every week, this week was his 300th article) out in Nova Scotia all weekend. He sent a lot of information that will be helpful. The Quakers there and the ones that returned to England were recognised as Loyalists but not the ones that went to Upper Canada. He sent me a couple of cases for examples. I think my appeal may have a chance!

I uninstalled four programs he didn't need, was able to install spybot and that cleaned up 53 malwares, trojans etc. He couldn't get on aol, so I uninstalled that but now it won't let me reinstall a newer version. Keeps telling me that something is running and Ihave to close that before it will install. Must have a program on it, I missed that is still giving him malware. I am going back again this afternoon to give it one more try, and then if I don't have any luck, he will just have to pay someone to get it fixed. He is his own worst enemy when it comes to that computer. We do have it running faster and got rid of a bunch of pop up ads.
Just have to get his aol running and he will be happy. I showed him how to get his email through IE on Aol, so at least he is working, just inconvienent.
36 very cold deg. this morning.

Your just full of good news today. What instrument does your Grandson play?
My daughters second husband, the father of her children, played the drums in a
band and my grandson plays, but only for his own pleasure.
Your article may have done the trick with the UEL, good luck.
35 deg. this morning with a light frost. I hope it will not kill the new buds
on trees, shrubs etc. I did not cover the plants, because they did not warn
about the frost. I should have realized it, because there was no wind, no
clouds, nothing to stop it.
Got an email this morning from a cousin that found a family tree on Ancestry re:
my McGrath family. I want to follow up, as this is my Great Uncle that moved
to Wisconsin, then enlisted in the Canadian Military and died in Ohio. I have
very little information on him, and it appears that the tree is based on his
son, posted by a Duane McGrath, that I assume to be a grandson.

Took her to the local animal control center and it managed to escape in
transferring it from our cage to their cage. Never saw the cat again. That
one also prowled in our garage. I told my neighbor she should keep her cat

53 deg. this morning with a high in the high 70's. Our cold spell is over,
thank goodness. I wish your Grandson well, it takes a lot to keep a group
together. Especially if they are strong willed and have their own ideas where
they want to do.
My s-i-l was a meter reader for the gas company during the week, and on
week-ends he did gigs. Not good for a marriage when there are small children
and the husband is out on Saturday nights. A lot of single women out on Sat.
nights enjoyed his company too. That helped to end their marriage. Grandson
only plays for his own enjoyment.
I'm off to Patrick AFB today for Commissary. I have to go again tomorrow for
prescriptions. The holiday on Monday messed me up. I called for refills and
instead of being ready on Tuesday, they moved it to Wed. because of the Monday
Holiday. I already made plans to go to Cocoa after Patrick AFB to get my
hearing aids adjusted, so rather then try to change the appointment in Cocoa, I
am just going to go both days. That will teach me to pay more attention to my
appointments and Holidays. I like to go the second Tuesday of the month and
for some reason , I messed up and this is the third Tuesday. I guess I messed
up all the way around. Forget February next year.

41 when I got up, 39 now, temps dropping, 31 by 8am,
windy, snow showers.
Our warm spell is over.

Norma, he's only 16, he's already been in two bands and went solo for a while. He learned guitar on his own, got into a high-school band (not marching) in 9th grade and composes original songs. I'm embarrassed to admit that I have only heard him practising I've never seen him perform. He wants to go to music school in Mississauga when he graduates. He's also auditioning for the Canada's Got Talent show.

Sounds like your grandson is in good company and may have a budding career in
the music industry. If he looks anything like his "cousin" Justin Beiber, he
will be a heart throb. His interest is also great in building his character.
Keeps them busy, off the streets and out of trouble. I wish him great luck in
the future.

He learned guitar on his own, got into a high-school band (not marching) in 9th
grade and composes original songs. I'm embarrassed to admit that I have only
heard him practising I've never seen him perform. He wants to go to music school
in Mississauga when he graduates. He's also auditioning for the Canada's Got
Talent show.

17, windy, going to mid-20's.

Norma, I may be biased but I think he's a cutie, as are all of my grandchildren. He's got a good head on his shoulders too.

The newsletters are all out in the mail, now I can take some time to work on my appeal letter. I want to have it finished to give to our branch genealogist next weekend, she's leaving her position in May and we will be without a genealogist until someone volunteers.
I'd volunteer but they say that I can't because I volunteer enough already with the newsletter and kitchen help.

You woulnd't be a good grandma if you were not biased, but it sounds like he is
doing everything right. I wish him well.
Our newsletter is not going so well. It is supposed to be out by the end of
the month, and we are still waiting to hear from the Hotel on meals, cost of
rooms, etc. Once we get that information, it won't take Geo. long to put it
together, and fortunately our mailing list is shrinking, so getting the mailing
together can be done in a matter of hours now. We may still make the deadline,
but I don't like getting it this close.

19, high in mid-20's, flurries, snow overnight tonight, we're on the edge of the storm, only a couple of inches and maybe some rain.

I'm doing some research for my appeal letter, I found some books on archive.org, one is Royal Commission on Losses and Services of American Loyalists. I have to find a case similar to my ancestors' that was accepted by the Commission.

23 now, it started snowing a couple of hours ago, already over an inch, it's
supposed to get heavier later this morning not changing to rain until tonight.
We're supposed to get 1-3", I think we'll get more,it'll be a mess tonight when
it starts raining.

I got a headache yesterday reading one book that had all of the "s"s printed as
"f"s.

Warm and sunny today. Are you getting more of that massive storm moving across
the west to the east? Stay warm. Remember the wasculy wodent says early spring.
I have trouble when reading those type documents. I am never sure which is
double "s" and which is "f". Have to read it over and over until I can make
sense of the sentence.

We didn't get the rain at the end of the snowstorm that was forecast. It's going to get slushy but gradually. We got about 3".

Norma, did you watch 20/20 last night? It was about Robin Roberts, host of Good Morning America's battle with MDS. Sad.

Warm and sunny today. Are you getting more of that massive storm moving across the west to the east? Stay warm. Remember the wasculy wodent says early spring.
I have trouble when reading those type documents. I am never sure which is double "s" and which is "f". Have to read it over and over until I can make sense of the sentence.

It is supposed to be out by the end of the month, and we are still waiting to hear from the Hotel on meals, cost of rooms, etc. Once we get that information, it won't take Geo. long to put it together, and fortunately our mailing list is shrinking, so getting the mailing together can be done in a matter of hours now. We may still make the deadline, but I don't like getting it this close.

> > > > My s-i-l was a meter reader for the gas company during the week, and on week-ends he did gigs. Not good for a marriage when there are small children and the husband is out on Saturday nights. A lot of single women out on Sat. nights enjoyed his company too. That helped to end their marriage. Grandson only plays for his own enjoyment.
> > > > I'm off to Patrick AFB today for Commissary. I have to go again tomorrow for prescriptions. The holiday on Monday messed me up. I called for refills and instead of being ready on Tuesday, they moved it to Wed. because of the Monday Holiday. I already made plans to go to Cocoa after Patrick AFB to get my hearing aids adjusted, so rather then try to change the appointment in Cocoa, I am just going to go both days. That will teach me to pay more attention to my appointments and Holidays. I like to go the second Tuesday of the month and for some reason , I messed up and this is the third Tuesday. I guess I messed up all the way around. Forget February next year.
