I am so sorry to hear that Sheri. As you know, no matter what stage Pancreatic
cancer is, the survival rate is extremely low, However, every day they are
coming up with new cures and now they say, that by changing your diet and eating
lots of fruits and certain other foods, that it fights cancer better then chemo.
or radiation. Certainly worth the try. I read recently that chemo. is not
good for many cancers and that is what help to kill the people. The chemo.
kills all the good bacteria leaving the body helpless.

In Europe chemo is the last thing they do when the patient is dying.  They do not use chemo in the beginning and they have a great survival rate.  Better than ours.  Most deaths in cancer patients are due to complications in the chemo, not the cancer.  I just can't wrap my head around it all.  She has been through so much and she is such a sweetheart.  You just never know what tomorrow will bring.  Enjoy today!

I guess that is what I was referring to. Why America does not listen, I will
never know.
I am thankful every day, that I have been allowed to live as long as I have and
have the ability to get around and do all the things that I can. I know it
won't last forever, but I feel blessed!!

Everyday is a gift.  Just enjoy them.  My aunt is an artist.  She paints such beautiful landscapes.  I'm glad she has her passion, art, to see her through.   I know life is better when you are involved.

Now that is a fact Sheri. I enjoy working on my embroidery and crocheting as
well as my genealogy. I have been working deligently on several bureau scarves
as well as crochet hand towel to take on my trip. I look forward to giveing
them away. To me, the giving is the most rewarding and gives me purpose

Cooler mornings but daytime temps. still in the 80's and low 90's. Today I am
mixing up cookie dough. Neiman Marcus cookies and Oatmeal cookies with cinnamon
chips. Have four banana bread loaves in the freezer ready to do. This will
be the last of my baking. Sat. I had to run to the flea market to get a
certain purse for my daughter. She bought one there two years ago and loved
it, but it was starting to show it's wear. Couldn't find the one she wanted,
but got one similiar but on the way out, found another leather store and low and
behold they had her purse. No refunds, all sales final, so she now has a choice
of either one. I think she will use them.

It's 54 and raining.  It was so dark when I got up this morning I just couldn't believe it was daytime!  It is supposed to rain through tomorrow morning.  We need it badly so I will not complain.

My bank merged or was taken over by another bank.  I want local so I opened a new account in a local bank.  Hopefully by the end of Oct everything will switched over.  The new on has a bad customer service record, and charges an arm and a leg.  It was so fast no one saw it coming.  Anyway, they are in trouble.  I had to wait in line to open the new accts.  Seems the local bank is very busy opening accts for disgruntled customers of the new bank.  It's going to be a headache for a few weeks, but it will get there.

Octoberfest starts next Thursday.  Hard to believe it's that late in the year.

I've noticed the days are getting much shorter. Don't like that, but can't
change it.
We changed one of our Banks this past year. They changed their policy of a
required balance on checking accounts of $750.00 at all times.I resent letting
them use my money and charging me if I want to use it. We had been with this
Credit Union since we moved here in 1994. We threatened to move all our
account, but that didn't faze them. So we moved to one that only required
$250.00 minumum balance and we are much happier. We still maintain our bank
with Navy Federal in Virginia and they don't charge us anything. We've had that
account since 1968 and they have the majority of our money. This one local is
just a transfer type account so that is probably why they didn't care about
loosing us.

Had a dental appointment this morning, had to have two old fillings, replaced.
Mixed up some more cookie dough this afternoon and tomorrow hope to start baking
some of the cookies. I've got four big containers of cookie dough, so it is
going to take me a few days to get them all done. Weather is getting cooler at
night and days are getting shorter and shorter.

Thank you both, Ladies. Made cookies this morning, was going to go out to
spray my plants, and it started to rain. So doing a little packing. We are
leaving Fri. morning so trying to get last minute things done. We will relax on
the auto-train and after that, visiting with the family.
We will have Birthday cake with lunch and that will make me happy.
Thank you again.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

59 and foggy this morning, going to 71.

There's a bug going around, three of my grandkids have it, it's at the
neighbour's now, I hope it doesn't come here.

I've been researching all of the groups of brothers in Butler's Rangers trying
to find my unknown ancestors, so far no luck. I'm searching the Old Loyalist
list to see if I can find anything there now.

Leaving in about an hour for Sanford, Fla. to get the auto-train to Virginia.
Visiting with daughter for the week-end before we move on. I understand the
weather up there is going to drop on Sat. to very cold like down in the 40's at
night and 60's during the day. The following week when we go to Virginia Beach,
it will not be much better, they are getting the same cold front. Taking the
laptop so will be in touch while I am gone.
Hope you ladies have the cooler weather you enjoy.

Sorry I'm so late.  I hope you have a safe and happy trip!  Nice fall weather for you to enjoy.  If you like fall.

It is cooler here and tonight will be a big frost.  That cough I couldn't shake turned out to be pneumonia in both lungs, and I am not allowed up much yet.  This has been the worst summer and fall.  I am going down the crapper.

Octoberfest was this weekend.  I missed it but the grandkids had a good time.  Well, they enjoyed the food for sure.  Even better school gave a 4 day weekend so they had lots of time to enjoy.

Thanks Sheri, I'm so sorry to hear that you have pneumonia. You have really
had a time of it this year. We made sure we got our flu shots before we left.
You take care of yourself and I will check back tomorrow when we get into
Virginia Beach to see how you are doing

We didn't get any frost last night, it's still chilly though.

I'm waiting for my son to call this am to see if d-i-l is feeling up to company today, she's been battling bronchitis, probably end up being pneumonia as well. She finally has healed from her mastitis surgery, down to three visits a week from the nurse instead of three a day while she was on IV antibiotics with a vacuum pump for excess fluid. She goes to Toronto to see a specialist this week.
If she is, I'm roasting veggies from my garden to take and I'm making a pumpkin roll for dessert. If not, we'll wait a week for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Happy Columbus Day!

Thanks Sheri, I'm so sorry to hear that you have pneumonia. You have really had a time of it this year. We made sure we got our flu shots before we left. You take care of yourself and I will check back tomorrow when we get into Virginia Beach to see how you are doing

Chilly this morning, we still haven't had any frost yet.

Sheri, I hope you're feeling better.

Norma, I hope you're having a great time.

I just ordered a subscription to Loyalists Quarterly, a U.S. Newsletter. There
is an article in this issue about 4 generations of descendants of Joseph Haines,
Sr. I hope it has his wife's name in it, maybe even Nathaniel' wife's maiden
name. Then I can start researching more loyalist family.

Hi all
Good luck Earline, hope you get what you are looking for.   Sheri, are you feeling better?   Hope you are getting up and around and doing well.
We left our first ships reunion early.   The accommodations were crummy, the rooms was like a closet, the closet was almost non=existant and only one sink for the two of us to clean up in the morning.   Hard to make appointments when you are sharing one sink.   The shower was nice but the bath lacked places to hang clothing etc.   Drove to Myrtle Beach today, and was able to get in early.   So nice to stretch out in our three room, modernized and up to date suite.   Far  cry from the hole in the wall antiquated room we had in Va. Beach.    We were able to take our Granddaughter and her husband and daughter to dinner last evening .   Had a great meal at the Red Lobster and then returned to the Hospitality Room at the hotel to say our good-bys to Geo.'s shipmates.
Stopped in Lumberton, NC to shop at the Fieldcrest Linen Outlet.   Went  crazy buying towels, pillow cases for my embroidery, bedspreads and a new pillow for Geo..   In the past I usually pick out my material and have the bedspreads made up and then match the window treatment, so by purchasing the ready-mades, I was able to save over $500.00, Of course, you should see the truck of the car with all that stuff - bulky.
This reunion doesn't start until Monday, so we have a few days to relax and unwind before we have to go to work.

65 now, going to 75, some showers

Norma it sounds like you are having a good time.

We went for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, my d-i-l was feeling better.

I didn't find anything new about Joseph, he got the information from my multiply
site. I emailed him and gave him permission to use info on my blogs if he wants
to, they're more recent, lol.
There is an interesting article about the Battle of King's Mountain that my
Tennessee patriot ancestors were in.
He promotes the UELAC in his newsletter.

It was warm and windy today.  Very windy.  The leaves are all over the place.  Yesterday they were still on the trees.

Playing catch up, or trying to.  I think it is possible I will never catch up.

I think Norma is having fun too.

Yes we are having a good time seeing old faces and nice people.  Accommodations here are nice, we have a three room suite where we can move about without tripping over each other and a very nice hospitality room where we can gather with the group.   Many came in yesterday and the rest are due today.
Glad to hear you are doing better Sheri and appears like you are getting some work done Earline.  Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Chilly again today, high in the 50's.

I'm glad you're feeling better Sheri, I hope allergy season is over for you.

I got my geraniums in the greenhouse and mums in the planters yesterday.
Tomatoes were moved to the greenhouse earlier. Pumpkins were on sale for less
than $1 each this weekend so we bought 4. We'll carve a couple and keep a couple
whole for cooking after Hallowe'en. Do people still spell it with an apostrophe?
I do anyway,lol, I'm old school.

A cool front moved through yesterday so we are a little cooler in the morning,
but the afternoons are the same. Been feeling exhausted since I came home, but
finally decided that I am coming down with a cold. Some nice person must have
decided they had it long enough and passed it on. Sore throat, cough and runny
nose. I don't have time to be sick, so will have to take care of it. I know
I have some chicken soup in the freezer, so will start pumping that in.

It's been cool here, running about 45 to 50.  By Tuesday it will be 80 according to the news guys.  I bet it will not get there.  Lots of wind and rain lately, too.

My niece was supposed to go home with her friend Friday night and spend the night.  She often did.  My brother had a bad feeling all day about it.  Finally he told her he would pay for another of her friends to go to the movies with them all and she could come to the house and spend the night with her.  (She couldn't afford to go)  He told her he didn't want her to go home with the one friend.  That friend never made it home.  They didn't find her until after noon Saturday.  She had wrecked and the car was hidden in a ravine.  She had died in the wreck.  Probably never know why but she lived out in the boonies.  Most likely a deer.  18 years old.  So horrible.  My niece is in shock, but has thanked her Dad over and over.  I feel so sorry for the young woman's family, but so relieved Shana was not in that car.

My Dr. put me back on steroids and I am finally feeling better.  The cough is lots better.  I am still off all BP meds.  I may be human after all.   ...........

Norma, don't let that cold go.  Get lots of rest and just be lazy!

Sheri, that's so sad, it's good that your niece wasn't with her. Your brother must have a little "old Tom" in his blood.

Norma, I came down with the same thing yesterday.

I've been working on the newsletter, it's done except the President's message which I haven't received yet, then it's the winter break, the next one isn't until the end of Feb
