Still getting on and off rains from Beryl, but should be finished tomorrow.
George's surgery was postponed until the following week sometime. Somebody
screwed up and gave the wrong information to the wrong person. He has to see
the doctor Wed. and then they will decide what and how to do what they have to
do. Never had that happen before, but the Surgeon's nurse, is home recovering
from surgery and working from her house. I think she got it second hand and
passed it along incorrectly. who know?
Anyway, sorry to hear about your daughter in law, Earline. Thank goodness she
is ok and the childre were not with her. The car is replacable, she is not.
I am begining to enjoy the windows 7. I put my Prescription file (cardfile) on
George's cpu and will also put it on the laptop, so I can have fast reference
until I find a new cardfile system that I think will work with my files and is
compatable with w7.

Another month has run over us and summer is here. Lousy morning, and now it is
raining. I hope to finish my weeding tomorrow and getting the last of the
mulch down.
George did not have his surgery today. There was a mix-up and he will be
reschedule probably for the week of the 13th.
He did find a gardner to help us and he started yesterday. He is a wizard.
He has a lot more work to do, but already he has the yard looking more like it
should and did it is less time then either one of us could do. He is going to
come about three times a month and Geo. will continue to do the mowing. This
guy will do the edging, wacky weeding, and whatever else needs to be done out
there. He is a nice young guy, very personable. His father owns all the
houses on his street, andhe grew up maintaining all the yards for Dad, so he is
experienced and good. He knows what to do without being told.
Hope all is well with you two.
Today, my baby brother would have been 70 years old. Hard to believe he has
been gone for 28 years.

Chilly and damp today, high in the 60's again, chance of showers.

Norma, I hope George's surgery goes well. It sounds like your gardener is a keeper!

We're going to the Cottam Yard Sale this morning. I grew up there but it has grown a lot, I hope I don't get lost this time. It was classified as a hamlet of about 600 back then. The pop. has probably tripled in the last thirty years.

We are also going out for supper for our anniversary. I haven't decided where yet.

Finished weeding and mulching the back yard and just have two shrubs in the
front to finish up. After this, I am not going to do anything in the yard
anymore. The gardner should be able to maintain.
I had no idea what the Cottam Yard Sale was about, so googled it, and it looks
like a fun day Earline. Have a great day and have a happy
Anniversary.................

Thanks Norma.
We got tired out around lunchtime and came home. We did get a bargain though. We got an extra boat seat, stand and all for $10 like new. We've been pricing them and they start at over $200. It was worth the trip.

Going to be very hot today, so have no intention of working outside. My pool
patio needs washing down again, but I think it will wait until next week. I
think today will be a miscellaneous day, of a little dusting, a little
embroidery and maybe a little research. No big jobs.
How you doing Sheri - did they ever find a medication for your older daughter to
stop her seizures?

Rainy and dreary.  About 65.  Feels good except for the humidity.

Niece (with the rare cancer) graduated yesterday.  One year early.  Her  mom removed her from school after the surgery and put her in the local learning center and she worked so hard.  We are so happy and proud of her.  Her grades were excellent and the school let her graduate with the class, caps and gowns and all!

Daughter goes to neurologist  next week.  Till then it's a walk on eggshells.  Right now her meds are the same except they took her off the generic that her insurance co. put her on.  The Dr. got it back to name brand and said that may be part of the problem.  The generic is not always the same.....?

Sunny and hot, typical Florida summer day.
Sheri, great for your niece, is her cancer in remission?
I believe that the generics can make a big difference. I take Omeprazole for
digestion. I always purchased it through Express Scripts, because the Base does
not carry it. This past year, Geo. got a prescription for Prilosec and the base
carries it. Generic for Omeprazole. So, of course, when I found that out, I
had my doctor change my prescription to the Prilosec and got it free on the
Base. After about two or three weeks, I started having heart tremors. I
will get that reaction to any medication that doesn't like me. So I stopped
the Prilosec and went back to the Omeprazole and the symptoms all went away.
When I told my doctor I wanted another prescription for the Omeprazole, he asked
why and I told him, and as usual, he told me that Prilosec will not do that. I
said, well, it does and I feel more comfortable with the Omeprazole so back to
my original prescription and ordering by mail, but feeling much better. There
has to be changes in the generic somewhere along the line.
I hope that is the case with your daughter and all goes well again.

Going to be hot and humid again today. Yesterday the humidity was unbearable.
Have to run some errands today and then will be home in the a/c the rest of the
afternoon.

Last year I had a bird make a nest in one of my shrubs next to the garage door.
I watched the birds taking care the three little eggs in the nest. Then I
spotted two snakes in the front flower bed playing around for a few days, never
thinking about the birds nests. Needless to say, the next time I checked the
nest, the eggs were gone.
So, this year, the bird came back and layed three more little eggs. No snakes
anywhere around, but to make sure, I sprinkled some "snake-away" all around the
base of the shrub so the snake would not cross the line and go up the shrub.
Yesterday, the eggs were gone again. Never saw the snake. I saw a large cat,
but the nest was clean so I don't think the cat got them. The cat would have
broken the eggs and made a mess. The snake eats them whole, and that nest was
clean as a whistle. I am so disappointed, but I don't know what else I can do
to protect them for next year.

for digestion. I always purchased it through Express Scripts, because the Base
does not carry it. This past year, Geo. got a prescription for Prilosec and the
base carries it. Generic for Omeprazole. So, of course, when I found that
out, I had my doctor change my prescription to the Prilosec and got it free on
the Base.

Subject: Happy Birthday Nathan Hale

Send Email Send Email

The Nathan Hale Homestead was the home of the family of State Hero, Nathan Hale.
Constructed in 1776, the current house is the second dwelling built on the
property. Nathan's father, Richard Hale, was a prosperous livestock farmer and
built the house for his large family. Ardent patriots, six of Richard's eight
sons served in the patriot army. One son, Capt. Nathan Hale was caught and
hanged as a spy at age 21 by the British in September of 1776. He is famous for
his alleged last words, "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my
country." Following the American Revolution, three Hale sons died from wounds
received in the war. Their widows and children moved to the family homestead, so
that an average of 12-20 people lived in the house at any one time.

The Homestead is a pristine example of a Georgian-style home. Although sold out
of the Hale family in the 1820s, the house has remained virtually intact. The
house was first restored by George Dudley Seymour, who saved the house in the
early 20th century. Recent paint analysis has resulted in the repainting of the
house interior in historic colors. The house is furnished with Hale-family
pieces and period antiques and is based on the family inventories. The house was
deeded to Connecticut Landmarks in the 1940s. Much of the acreage associated
with the Hale farm, is now the Nathan Hale State Forest.

Sorry, I hit the wrong key.
Cameron's birthday was yesterday, we're going for a pool party today. I'm taking
a life jacket so he can go in the pool, he can't touch bottom yet.

We finally got the boat registered, it's going in next week to have the
electrical done, it should be ready next weekend.

The Loyalists Day picnic is next Saturday, I don't think I'll be wearing costume
if it's going to be hot out, too many layers.

Belated Happy Birthday to Cameron, I hope you take the opportunity to help him
learn how to swim. So many children drowning because they lack the skills to
stay afloat or learn to swim.
We are caught up in our rain - finally. We have had several inches of rain
this past week and everything, including weeds are growing like crazy.
I've been having a great time with the 1940 Census. New York is now indexed,
so I spent some time checking on my Grandfather's brothers - all three of them
lived in Westchester County, as did George's mothers family. I found that the
boy we thought Gr.Uncle Florrey adopted, was actually his wife's brothers son.
A nephew that they raised for a short time.
Stories that Billy Bernard spent time in Dannemora State Prison in upstate New
York, well, I did find him in the 1940 Census, in prison, but not in Dannemora,
but Westchester County Jail. He was 24 years old and the son of Gr Uncle
William Bernard. I was never sure if it was the father or son that was jailed.
He married and had two children, so don't know how long he spent in jail.
Just finding interesting little facts that confirm or make some of the stories
we heard more realistic.

70's today, showers this morning, thunderstorms this evening.

Norma, Cameron had a life jacket on, he wouldn't go in with just water-wings so this was his first time in the big pool and he had a blast. We'll be doing it again next weekend, Levi, my oldest grandson, turns 16 on Friday.

We've had so much rain in the past two weeks, that the grass is growing like
crazy. Geo. mowed Sat. and already it need mowing again. Yesterday I had to
go to Patrick AFB for prescriptions and food. I am all stocked up again on
both.
Got two emails yesterday about matches on my DNA, but when I tried to respond to
see where the matches are, I came up blank. I guess I have to learn more about
the results and how to find the matches. I should read the instructions on how
to read the results. When all else fails.................read the instructions.

Hot and humid today, starting to look like rain, but it should only be a little
shower if we get anything.
LOL Earline, I don't read directions until all else fails. Most of the time I
can figure it out, but this time, the stupid results are so complicated, that I
guess I will have to read it.
Tomorrow is a free day except for changing the sheets, and maybe a little
dusting - very little.

Busy month so far.  My nephew and his wife lost their baby.  They were so excited about the baby and ready.   It was a little girl and buried this weekend.   It was so sad.  Yesterday was the anniversary of my Dad's death.  I really was a wreck and it surprised me.  Still feeling anti-social......:(

Norma, the results must be published online somewhere?  If so you can compare your own DNA to the others in your line?  It is a headache trying to figure it all out though.

I need to go shopping but it is hot today and so dry.  We have had at least 10 days without a drop of rain.  Under a fire advisory.  Everything is dry and blowing around.  I really have a headache.  I will have to just go but I don't want to.  I don't like to shop at best.  I am not at my best.

It's hot and dry here too, I'm getting tired of watering the garden.
I hope you feel better soon Sheri, I'm sorry to about your nephew's family.

My grandson's 16th birthday is today. Unfortunately it is also his recently deceased grandparent's wedding anniversary as well. He's just going to the fair with a friend, no party.

We are hot, not dry. Baking some banana bread, in case Grandson comes next
week. Going to start of batch of Cookies this afternoon or tomorrow.
So sorry to hear about your nephews baby Sheri. People forget that even in this
day and age, it can still happen. Was this their first? Always harder when
they don't have any at home. My sister lost her first at seven months and she
could not look at anyone's baby for a very long time. Resented me, when I had
my first the following year. I lost my second at eight months, so I guess that
evened things out for her. I was too ill to attend the funeral. I had
hemoraging and had to stay in the hospital. Geo. and my mother took care of
all the arrangements.
Sheri, I found the listing of those that are matches. They have several
different lists. If the people would list their gedcoms with their
information, I might find the match, but only a handfull have completed their
pages, so the match means absolutely nothing to me. Another list give the
Haplogs whatever and I have not studied them. Plus there are the R1,r2 and all
that crappola that I will never understand. If more people put up a gedcom, I
think I could find more matches. As it stand now, even the matches do not
reveal any names I recognize from my data.
Happy Birthday to your other grandson Earline. He is getting big.!!

It was the first.  They had the nursery all ready and were just waiting.  She went to the dr. and everything was alright.  2 days later the baby was dead.  She was 7and a half mos.  They are broken.

Good news though.  I've been so deep in it I forget there is good news.  My niece had her 6 months check, MRI full body looking for the cancer to pop back up.  This was the 3 year anniversary.  She was clean and they decided to cut her down to once a year tests.  So good news.  She graduated 2 days later, one year earlier than she would have if the cancer had not taken her for a year.  Her grad party was really a PARTY!

Daughter is having more tests but the neuro guy has said not to worry.  There are several paths we can take.  He will change her meds.  There is a possibility that the cyst can be removed!  He said there are several things we can do so I feel better and she is feeling more confident again.  Very happy about that.

My haplogroup is J2.  It is found in the middle east.  Jews, Muslims, southern Italy and southern Spain.  My Dad would have been fascinated by that.  This test is a Y-DNA (male) test.  You tested  Mitochondria (female) though, right?  I don't know if that works the same way.  Does it tell you how much of a certain ethnic group you are in?  I want to do my Mitochondria sometime. In Y-DNA the R1 haplogroup is the north Europe area I think.  You are always researching french ancestors and those would be in the R1 area, at least in Y-DNA.

Thatis the same thing that happened to my sister, She was doing just great
with her pregnancy and then all of a sudden my mother noticed she was not
getting any bigger. Asked her if she felt life, but my sister was not sure.
She went to the Doctor and he told her everything was just fine and that it was
not unusual to not get a heartbeat. Two weeks later she delivered a dead baby
at home. In her case they think it is possible that there was a gas leak in the
kitchen stove and it was not enought to over come her, but enough to kill the
baby. No one will ever know for sure. She went on to have three healty
children after that, so at this time, it is all behind her and forgotten.
Delighted to hear that your neice is in remission and holding her own, that is
really great news.
I didn't know your daughter had a cyst - I hope all goes well getting that
removed and they get her meds. adjusted.

My haploggroup is H which is europe, England, Scotland, Ireland,France etc. and
yes, it is Y-dna. I have a problem finding a live male to take the test. I
would like to talk to my nephew ( my youngest brothers eldest son) about taking
the test. My brother always said the youngest son, wasn't his, so no good match
there.

Beautiful day today, sunny warm with a nice breeze. Worked outside for an hour
or so in the shadey side of the house this morning. Came in before it got too
hot.
Not a happy camper today. Bravenet informed me that they will be closing my
"USS Kimberly" site. I can continue on in a pay site but the freebie is going
to close. I spent several hours yesterday and today, looking for somewhere to
move my site to. I need a website that also has a bulletin board. Everything
now is pretty much all blogs. I need a website that I can add pages and one
that is not done in html. I need an easy site for dummies.
I don't have time for this kind of a mess. They are going to shut me down by
the 25th of July.

Today at 1:00 I went to do the shopping.  It was 99 degrees but the heat index made it feel like 107.  Very dry.  When I came out of the store the sky opened up and I got soaked before I could load all the groceries into the car.  Soaked.  My clothes are hanging in the bathroom still drying.  Even my underwear.  Like it or not I got to play in the rain.  It was such a relief.  I didn't mind getting soaked.

Norma I am not sure what you mean by a bulletin but if you mean a forum like thing you might have to change your idea of how to communicate.

Google sites are really simple to do and free; they have a site builder so you do not need to code.  There are the google groups and you can create your site in a wiki type template which should allow for others to comment or add data. Here is a link for you to look at what features are available.  You would need a gmail account, but I love gmail so I don't think that would be a big deal.  You can look at features from the link on this page:

Shani uses this site.  It doesn't need code either.  Here is the place to look it over.  http://www.webs.com/features.htm

We'll find you something by the last of July.  Not to worry.

Thanks Sheri, I will check them both out. Most of the time, my members on the
Kimberly site do not post. They just read the information that I put out.
Once every blue moon, they will chime in and I have to have a place where they
can feel comfortable to do that. The majority are computer illiterate. I am
only a step above.
Sorry, I had to chuckle when I read how soaked you got. I know that can be
mightly uncomfortable until you could get home to change even if it did cool you
down. Been there, done that.

Thanks Sheri, I have most of the website set up on the google site, but I still
have not figured out how we are going to be able to chit chat or be able to send
them information without using a page. I cand send them messages, but they can
not reply. I haven't checked out the blogs yet, I know they have the Google+
- do you know if that can be private? I haven't checked that out yet.
Geo. went in for his procedure today, he was in the OR for two hours before they
decided that they could not repair his problem from the vein. So before they
got him out of recovery, they rescheduled him for tomorrow morning, to do the
procedure again, only this time they will insert a needle in his back and go in
from there. They did say that while they were there, they found nothing wrong
with his legs other then he has small veins. More then likely, the stent
funneled the blood to his legs at a slower rate then when he had the anuerism so
it will take time for it to grown capiliaries to handle the job. A very
tireing day and we have to go through it all over again tomorrow. However, the
radiologist says it will be short and sweet tomorrow, now that they know what is
going on and what they have to do.

Thunderstorms rolled through this afternoon for the third day, probably be
repeated tomorrow and the next day.

Norma I hope all goes well tomorrow.

I just discovered how to upload photos to the group with my phone, I have to go
to the group and use the basic uploader.I added a couple of the picnic on
Saturday. It was hot so only three of us dressed as loyalists.A few decided to
stay home because of the heat and humidity. Our founding member who is ninety
was able to make it out. Her husband was our milkman when I was a kid.
