Earline, your baking cabinet is beautiful. I have only seen one, once before,
but is was not the same as that one. The hinges on the doors resemble the ones
on the old ice boxes, or could it be used as an ice box as well. I see the
slide out board and draw. Nifty. An old neighbor of ours, growing up had one
in their kitchen. The mother did a lot of baking, cooking and farming. My
mother was not a cook, so no need for one of those, although she did make a
great apple pie. You did a great job of refinishing.

So many people suffer from them. I have to thank the Lord every day that I am
not one of them. We never know how well off we are until we see someone with
allergies, migraine and other daily problems, which reminds me - my
Granddaughter told me the other day that little Hailey outgrew her allergy to
strawberries. They were out picking them over the weekend. I hope she
outgrows more of her allergies over the years.

I've been reading my Taylor Family History book, I've got the newsletter done ,
just have to wait for two meetings on 21 + 26 and it's done. My Blackberry
Playbook came on Friday and I've been getting it set up. I haven't been doing
much research, been transcribing some War of 1812 military records, that's about
all I've been up to lately.

Earline, when you said baking cabinet I thought perhaps a "pie safe".  But your cabinet is really a "baking cabinet".  I had not seen on like that.  Love it.  Love the handles.  I could see how useful one would be.

Hope you are well, Norma.

Still having some problems with my eye.  Tree pollen is still high and it shows......<sigh>

82 deg., sunny with a little breeze, no humidity but a possibility of rain later
today or tomorrow. We need it desperately, but then the summer humidity will
begin. Have no idea what I will work on this afternoon, but have free time for
me or my projects. Maybe more 1940 Census.

A big line of storms came through here last evening, dumping a little over an
inch of much needed rain. Lots of wind and lightening. Some trees came down
north of us, but this area was good. More are expected to come through this
evening again. As long as I pull the plug on my sewing machines and spare
computer, I think we have nothing to worry about. All our trees are small,
since we lost the majority of the big ones in 2004 and 2005 to those Hurricanes.
We are both doing well and starting to get caught up on some outside jobs. I
see my primary care doctor on Tuesday and the Surgeon on Friday to get the
stitches out. They must be healing, I itch like crazy.
I just ordered an update to my DNA testing - it is on sale again through
tonight.
Hope you both are well

Another line of storms came through in the wee hours this morning and dropped
another inch or so of much needed rain. The rumble of the thunder awakened the
two of us a little after 3:00 a.m.
The sun is shining now, but the yard is too wet to do anywork.

A good time to do a little sewing and finish scanning the rest of my pictures so
I can get them off my desk. Starting to look a little messy.

We had a couple of days of rain, very heavy at times from that tornadic system in the OK area.  Then it got cold.  It was 38 last night and today it is very chilly.  Haven't turned on the tv today so I don't know what the actual temp is.

Eldest daughter spent Friday night and Saturday in hospital.  She had a new kind of seizure.  She has been turned every way but loose.  They think her body is just getting used to the meds she is on now and they need to do something different.  It's inoperable but there are surgical things that can be done to lessen the meds and she is ready to talk to the "head doctor" about trying something else.

So I only had energy to rearrange a little dust and do some laundry.  I hope I can sleep tonight.

I am so sorry Sheri, I hope they can come up with something to give her
permanent relief from those seizures. I will keep her in my prayers. When I
get in situations like you are in, I start walking in circles and pacing, trying
to find where I left my head, because it sure isn't screwed on tight at those
times. You and Shani do something comforting and forget the dust. I have
found that no matter how often you dust, it is always there. Good luck with a
happy outcome.

Don't tell anyone, but it is 50 deg. this morningin Florida. Yesterday it was
only 48. Warm up begins today. Never have I had to put the heat on in mid
April.
Hope your daughter is doing better Sheri and they find what caused her new
problem. Earline, hope you are doing better with your migraines.
I am off to the Medical Center this morning for a nuclear stress test. Saw my
primary care doctor yesterday, he ordered an EKG and the stress test and Friday
I get my stitches out. Busy week for doctors. I was able to get my ironing
done Monday and Thurs. I will be home to change the sheets and get them
laundered. The rest of the house will get a "lick and a Promise" as my Mom used
to say. A lick now and a promise to do better next week.

40's this morning, sprinkles overnight, going to 60 today.

Sheri, I hope Shani gets some relief, I've been fortunate, I've only been on one
medication in 30 years, I only had to adjust the dosage.

Norma, I'm glad everything is getting back to normal in your household.

I just finished the newsletter and sent it for proof-reading.
I'm helping my f-i-l liquidate his assets now. He's got a lot of uncirculated
siver dollars in boxes, a couple hundred, and I'm listing them on eBay for him,
one at a time. I hope they sell at a decent price. The fixed rate format is free
for the next three days so I'll put some there and some at auction, see what
sells better.

Earline

Earline, do you have any idea the year on the silver dollar? I don't have a
collection per se; but I do have quite a lot, mostly older ones and I might be
interested in purchasing them on ebay. When my daughter was young, we had a
neighbor that used to give her one every year for her birthday and they were
usually dated early. From then on, Geo. would add to her collection
periodically and when we were married 25 years, a friend of ours gave us twenty
five silver dollars in the shape of a Christmas tree mounted in a frame. So we
just gather them whenever.

Norma, they are all Canadian, mint in boxes, mostly commemorative from 1980's so far. The ones I listed usually sell for $15-$20 each at auction, I'm listing them at $20 each, fixed rate and see how they sell. I'll be listing them at auction to start at $12 on the weekend.

I forgot they would be Canadian, sorry. Most of the ones I have are from the
1800's and I was thinking about adding them to that collection. Sounds like a
fair price, I hope you do well in selling them.
Sheri - how is your daughter doing?
I had an additional testing done on my DNA while they had the reduced rate, I
don't have the results yet, but according to my account, they are processing it
so it should be soon. I found some guy from the old testing that is a 6th
cousin. His surnames matched my Bernard line, so yesterday I sent him an
email. I wonder if he will respond.

It's my oldest daughter that has seizures, not Shani.  They are still figuring it out.  I don't know what they will do, but she is going to get into a different doctor.  Kind of nerve-racking waiting.  And it may be a while before all is decided.   Today is her 39th birthday.

It was a chilly morning here.  We had rain and storms through night before and then a front.  I like chilly.  80 is tooooooo hot.

Happy Birthday to your oldest daughter. I hope they find something for her
soon, the unknown can be as bad as the knowing.
Worked outside a little this morning, pruning and pulling weeds. The yard is
so far behind with Geo geing laid up and then me. Lots of work and not enough
of us. He is looking around to find someone to bring in to finish my weeding
and mulching and then I can help him with his mowing and triming. We have three
shrubs in the front of the house tht was starting to grow up past the window
sills. I cut one back today and the other two I hope to get tomorrow. Very
little dies in Florida, just keeps growing like Jack's beanstalk.

Another month gone by. May Day - remember when we were children in grammar
school and they did the May Pole Dance. Round and round the pole until the
streamer was all used up.

To us it was bare-foot day.  Don't know where that one came from, but it was law in our family, can't go barefooted until May 1.  We couldn't wait until May!

Allergies are bad.  The weather is hot and damp with rain and storms each day at some point.  I cannot believe it is May already.  Seems to be flying by.   Hope it goes better than April.  I could use a break.

This is one of Sheri's photos of the Jackson County Bank. I requested
permission to use the photo and someone came back to me and asked where it would
be used. I responded, but never heard anymore, so I am making the assumption
that we can use it for 30 days, otherwise they would have been sure to tell me
no!

We never went barefoot unless we were at the beach. Don't know why, just
didn't. First time I every went barefoot was when a Navy friend of mind chided
me because I said I had never gone barefoot. That was in Norfolk, 1958/59. I
would have been around 25/26. It was not a good experience. I stepped in
duck poo and had to go in and take a shower. Didn't go barefoot again until we
moved to Hawaii and then I learned not to wear shoes in the house. Now, I only
wear shoes inside in the winter when tile gets real cold, otherwise, I am
barefoot all the time.

My aunt in California died yesterday.  My Mother was in such a bad shape after.  She is the last one left.  All her siblings are gone.  My aunt had been really good and they talked on the phone a lot.  She just went to sleep yesterday for a nap and did not wake.  So it was quite a shock to all.  When it rains....it pours.  Seem to be under a dark moon for the past couple of months.

Weather here is he**.  Can't breathe and very hot.  Today is not as bad as yesterday.  Everything is so green and alive though.  Somehow that is comforting.  May get storms later today and tomorrow.  (DerbyDay!!!!)

I hate shoes.  Always did.  Never wore them in the summer so May 1 was always a calendar marker day for me and my brothers.

I'm so sorry about your Aunt Sheri, but if I had to choose a way to go, that
certainly is more to my liking then suffering a long time with Cancer or some
other painful desease. Those left behind have the shock. My mother died with
a massive heart attack - zoom and that was it. It took me a time to grieve,
and then I was thankful she did not suffer.
Hope your daughter is finding new medications to help her.

I agree with you now, I never wear shoes anymore inside. Can't go without
shoes here, I am afraid of the fire ants, snakes etc., but inside, I only wear
slippers when the floors get too cold in the winter.

Mother is better today.  I hope it's not just when we are around.  Found my Aunt Louise's obit at the funeral home in Salinas.  It is supposed to run here Monday or Tues.  I have a box full of letters from her from these many years.  She loved to write and get letters.

It stormed like crazy last night, starting about 9:30.  We got over 3 inches of rain.  It is so cloudy it looks like it could pour right now.  The weather guys said it would be clear tonight and we could see the "Super Moon".  I am hoping that is true.

I'm glad to hear your Mom is doing better. If she was close to her sister, this
will take a long time to get over. I still have days, when I think about my
two brothers, especially my younger one, he passed on so young.
We are into summer weather now, 60's overnight and mid 80's during the day.
Still have my blanket on the bed, but Geo.'s circulation must be poor, because
he is cold all the time.
Earline, how you doing. Still working in F-I-L Garage, getting things sold?
Hope all is well.

49 with a high in the 60's

Sheri, I'm sorry to hear of your aunt's death, I hope your mom is okay.

I finally got the spring newsletter out of the way. Murphy's law again, I had the newsletter just about finished a month ago, waiting for a revised mailing list put me behind, the lady that sent the list sent the email but her email wasn't working and it wasn't going out and she didn't know for a week, finally someone called her and got about a dozen emails in a few minutes. Top that off with the stamps I was told to use, 1984 Loyalists and 1986 Molly Brant that a member donated, it took me two hours just to put the stamps on. We picked up the newsletter at 3:30pm amd had to fold and stuff the envelopes and get them to the post office by 4:00pm. My d-i-l and granddaughter helped and we made it with 5 minutes to spare. I hope the third one's a charm, lol.

Nice day today, sunny, warm with a slight breeze. I can see the trees moving.
No humidity.
That's a big undertaking Earline. We used to have the same problem getting our
newsletters out and the membership envelopes for the Reunions. But now that we
have a dwindling membership, Geo. handles it by himself for the most part.
First getting all the information from the Hotel to put in the newsletter and
sometimes not getting tickets in time for the envelopes. We start pushing
earlier and the job goes faster with less volumn. In your case, hopefully, you
have a growing membership so you know your job won't get easier, but practice
and experience helps. You did someone a big favor taking over for them.
Nothing new here, no new finds, still waiting for the last results on my DNA
upgrade .
Hope your Mom is doing better Sheri, and your older daughter is settling down
with new meds. Having gone through one seizure with Geo. I don't know how
anyone can get used to that. I wish her well.

Thanks Earline, I found it after you mentioned it and also able to access
Familysearch.org. The more I play with it the better I like it. The size is
ideal. I didn't think it would fit in my purse. I carry a very small purse,
just enough room for a wallet, with my id, license etc. my cell phone, lipstick
and a rain bonnet. So after you mentioned it I tried it and would you believe
it fits in the one side of the purse like a glove. Almost like it was made for
it, with no room to spare. My purse is the same size, and shape.
Between Geo. and I we have a lot of sites bookmarked. If we do all the looking
now and get the passwords in while we are learning, by the time we travel North
in the fall, (God willing) we should have it all set to go.

Norma, I just added Splashtop to my tablet, it's a remote desktop, it lets you
use the programs that are on your computer on your tablet! I wish I would have
found this app earllier.

size, with more memory in it then the computer. We are both learning how to use
it - was frustrating at first, but we are starting to get the hang of it.

getting our newsletters out and the membership envelopes for the Reunions. But
now that we have a dwindling membership, Geo. handles it by himself for the most
part. First getting all the information from the Hotel to put in the newsletter
and sometimes not getting tickets in time for the envelopes. We start pushing
earlier and the job goes faster with less volumn. In your case, hopefully, you
have a growing membership so you know your job won't get easier, but practice
and experience helps. You did someone a big favor taking over for them.

anyone can get used to that. I wish her well.

I had the newsletter just about finished a month ago, waiting for a revised
mailing list put me behind, the lady that sent the list sent the email but her
email wasn't working and it wasn't going out and she didn't know for a week,
finally someone called her and got about a dozen emails in a few minutes. Top
that off with the stamps I was told to use, 1984 Loyalists and 1986 Molly Brant
that a member donated, it took me two hours just to put the stamps on. We picked
up the newsletter at 3:30pm amd had to fold and stuff the envelopes and get them
to the post office by 4:00pm. My d-i-l and granddaughter helped and we made it
with 5 minutes to spare. I hope the third one's a charm, lol.

think about my two brothers, especially my younger one, he passed on so young.
