Well I am snowed under. The highways have been closing. About noon we had 3
1/2 inches and it has snowed all day. Still coming down. The roads are awful.
We are under the warnings til tomorrow night. It is pretty though.

I have been trying to find my Tolliver White. Interesting story if I can find
more details. Let you know later. Right now I am going to get warm, take some
cold meds and put on something fuzzy :)

Wow Sheri, I hope you have the groceries in for the duration. Sounds like you
caught Shani's cold?
Wrap up in everything warm, with socks on the feet and lap throws and enjoy.
Some good chicken soup will warm the insides.
We had our last day of nice warm weather today before the cold moves down to us
tomorrow.
Had to go to the Urologist this morning for my check up and he wants another
ultra sound of the kidney again next month - routine. Tomorrow I have to go to
get my hearing aids tuned up and Thursday over to Patrick AFB for prescriptions
and food. Boy, one thing I've noticed since retirement is that I can stay
busy. Between doctor appointments, getting prescriptions and food supplies, it
become a regular routine.

Over 6" of new snow on the ground, no more accumulation, just flurries.

No snow day here, buses are running, school is open, kids are disappointed. All
of the surrounding counties have a snow day, guess that's why our schools have
higher than average grades, lol.

Went for my 9:00 appointment this morning and the Hearing Air Tech. never showed
up. I know 44 deg. is cold, but she still has a business to run. I waited
in the cold for 15 min. and then left her a note to reschedule me. Now I am
ticked off, because it would have been a good day for me to go to Patrick AFB
and get that job done rather then tomorrow. Wasted day and that does not make
for a happy camper.
We are going to go down to freezing again tonight so I have to cover my plants
again this afternoon. This is getting to be a pain in the neck and not
something I moved to Florida for. Where is our 70 deg. days and 50 deg.
nights. I don't think it will be a hard enough freeze to run the pool all night
- but enough to kill my plants if I do not protect them.
I don't usually get myself in such a snit, but my day did not start off well and
it seems to be going down hill from there. I need to cook some comfort food
today and take my mind off my anger.

Norma, if it'll make you feel better, the weatherman said this morning that Florida is the only continental state without snow on the ground.

We have about 6 inches on the ground, I think. I only think because a wicked
wind blew up last night and some areas are real deep and others have grass
sticking up out of it. No school here. It doesn't matter in IN if they miss a
day. They have to make every snow day up at the end of the year. I can say
that the kids know that and don't want to have to go to school any longer at the
end of school when the weather is warm. The joy of the snow day is over in IN.

Our state of the state was Daniels going to fix our education. So that means
they will be messing with the numbers so our kids look good. He's running for
Pres....next time. He will be in our face all the time now. So will the eye of
Newt. I am sure he is running (He's going to Iowa). There should be some law
preventing people we know are crooked and hateful from running. He quit so not
to be charged. People are dumb and easily distracted here, and memories are
short term only.

Strange dreams all night. I think the head cold is taking over, and it's not
pretty! It's a good time for a cold if you have to have one. Who wants to go
out in this anyway?

35 deg. this morning and still going down. Should stop at 28 before the sun
comes up. I hate this cold and am sorry I have to go out, but that's the way
it is. Geo. has to go out to the Doc. also, so we both will be running in this
cold weather.
Sheri - all politicians are crooks, we only vote for the ones we think are the
least crooked. Honest people just can't fight the system so they don't run.
Politics have become worse over the last twenty five years or so with the Party
having far too much power over the Candidates. We seem to be voting for the
party and not the person running, because if the person votes his own mind and
conscious, the party will drop him like a hot potato. Then they destroy him.
Snow conditions look bad all over, so I have to be thankful that we don't get
snow. If our weather is anything like last year, we should be over the worst of
the cold. By Feb. we are usually getting warmer. Of course, we don't usually
have freezing weather in the winter either, so who knows!

High of 25, flurries.

We are going into the city on Saturday, weather permitting, there's a sale at
Fabricland, buy 1 get 2 or 3 free. I want new curtains in the dining area so
I'll see what they have.
I'm going to pick up my cooling pad while we're out too.

Lowest it got this morning was 32, which I am thankful for. I got to the
pharmacy early at Patrick and had to stand outside in the cold and wind for
about ten minutes before they opened the doors. This building is only a city
block from the ocean, so the blustery wind coming in off the water was biting.
Worth the wait, I was number seven in line and got out of there within ten
minutes. Rather then wait the forty five minutes to pick up the RX, I went to
the Commissary and picked up the groceries and then went back to the Pharmacy
and picked up the Rx and headed home. It was nice to get back on the mainland
where it was much warmer and not near the gusty winds. Now I have the
afternoon free. wheeeeeeeeeeeee

I guess Daniels has announced his candidacy for Pres. AOL just had a straw
poll on who would be the most likely candidate for the next election and they
had a list of about twenty people and Daniels was one of them.

Good luck with the shopping - I love shopping for materials. I think it is one

a different covering.

He can't be gov. again because of term limits so.... We knew he wanted to run
for pres all along. He is from NY I think and screwed with out time, making it
match NY time. Not popular here in the southern part of the state. The Rep.
ticket is wide open so he has as big a chance as everyone else right now. I
can't say he is awful, even if I think he is. Our state did not go broke as
many others have. We've run in the black all along and that is rare today. I
only know from now on it's politics as they all line up.

I went out and shopped today with my sister. I don't feel so hot but did enjoy
the company. I don't have to leave the house for the rest of the week. (unless
there is an emergency) It is still only 21 out there and I was freezing but
sweaty. I am going to rest for the weekend, take drugs and drink OJ and hope I
am up to par Monday. It should sound fun but I think it sounds kinda boring.

Don't know what his chances will be - he is unknown, except to Indiana and is up
against several well knowns. Unless he has done something spectacular, or has
a gift of gab selling himself, like Bush and Obama, his chances are nil to none.
I'd like to see all the States do away with daylight savings time. Originally
it was put into effect to save money, but I don't see where it saves anything.
Just transfers the use of energy from using lights etc. from morning to nights
(or vice versa). We did not have Daylight savings time in Hawaii and I really
enjoyed it.

It's 32 now and sunny so it feels warmer. Nice. More snow coming though.

Today I am 'resting'. I may get something done later but not for a while. May

Nice weather this afternoon, but very cold again this morning. Had lots to do
today after scooter-pooping for three days, but got my jobs finished for today.
Tomorrow I will move my plants back out of the garage and uncover the rest. I
don't think we will get any more freeze weather for a while - I hope!

Have my taxes all figured for this year, just need the source documents on our
income to confirm my numbers and then file. We increased our withholding last
year and for once in many years, we will get a refund.

69 deg. outside, sunny and warm. All my plants are back out and uncovered.
Watered and sprayed them, so hopefully, they will stay healthy. My Geraniums
that were in the pots out front, must have enjoyed the rest in the dark garage,
because they look fuller and healthier then before they went in. More blooms
too!! Have other jobs to do, but just can't get motivated. I guess, knowing
I have no errands to run this week and will be home, I have plenty of time to
get everything done with leftover time.

It's a cold 27 this morning and the forecast is for rain. Doesn't bode well at
that temp. Then later in the week, snow. Very dreary morning.

I had a nice rest for 2 days and now I have to catch up. Today I rearrange the
dust. Then I want to do some more writing. At least that is how I am planning
the day. Hope it goes as I have planned :)

I have found a couple of grave photos at FAG in the Brock Cemetery in Washington
County, IN. They are of my ancestors brother and I cannot believe I found them.
Happy dancing is happening here. I did not think I would ever find where they
were buried, but found them and they had photos!!

64 deg. and raining. We were under a tornado watch and warning for about
twenty minutes this early afternoon and could possibly be under another one
before the evening is over. Strong winds blew through with the rains, but all
is well.

Very good on the Cemetery information and pictures. Always nice when you get
pictures and headstone information.

I revisited my Lizzie Maude Gorham Scott again today trying to get more
information on her. This time I tried to find her sister and brother as
another route to the parents. So many Gorham's in Wilton and Westport, Ct, and
so many with the same names. I know her sister was Harriet (widowed) because
she helped with the children after Lizzie died. I found three Harriet's all
with different parents and all in the same area. I've ruled out one, because
the Census still has her single at a time she was living with Lizzie's husband
(not widowed). I do know she married a Price and lived in Westchester, N. Y.
until he died. I still have two more Harriets to try to fit with the proper
family with a sister named Eliz.

Ran errands this morning and did some more research this afternoon. I found a
family tree for one of the Henriett's that rules out another one. Sister Lizzie
married someone name Hurlburt so no connection there. Still haven't found the
one I want but process of elimination, I getting rid of the ones that I know
don't fit.

Getting colder as the day moves on. Big snow coming, Winter storm advisory here
now.

I'm working on updating my desktop card file. Put it off way too long.

I did get an email yesterday from another Cockerham researcher about Reuben
Cockerham. I sent a reply and I am hoping he continues the communication. My
Happy Day dance!

We are having a heat wave, 81 deg. today and I have changed clothes twice trying
to accomodate the change. I knew we were going to warm up - but 81 deg.? I
wonder if your cold weather is going to follow.

I like Happy Dances - I hope you get a prompt reply

17 with a high of 25

No, Norma, we aren't getting a heat wave, we're going into a deep freeze,
tomorrow night is supposed to be 2, the coldest in 2 years.

Sheri, great find! I haven't done a happy dance in ages, I think I forgot how it
goes, lol .

I've been getting a head start on my spring cleaning, waiting for some
inspiration. I have three rooms left. I doubled the memory in the desktop
yesterday but didn't replace the hard drive, there's still 120 free GB.

Cold. Snowing. Like crazy. About 4 inches so far. May I say that I am OVER
IT! It can now stop snowing......okay....now please. <sigh>

The new Cockerham contact sent me his entire Cockerham file. OMG! How fun.
Also, I think I know him and his family. Actually, I am pretty certain that I
do. Haven't seen him since the 70's though. Going to go through the file and
then email him again and find out. Joy!

Still working on the index card file. I am slow, but I am making upgrades as I
go. Tomorrow I am going shopping with my sister. Have shovel.....will go. I
don't want to hear about the citrus in the yard, Norma, or 81 degrees! We still
have our snowiest months to go.

I am so sorry about mentioning my nice weather.   I didn't mean it to be bragging, rather then  a surprise to me that we are experiencing such warm weather for this time of the year.    I know what 2 deg. feels like and I can remember shoveling snow a foot deep, and that is why I choose to stay in the South.   This is the benefit we get for putting up with the Hurricane's, tornado's and gaters, snakes etc the rest of the year.

Great news on your Cockerham family contact.   We will have to find a dancing gif.

Earline, glad to hear you are busy working, I was afraid you might have been ill.   Ya'll stay warm and I will quit giving a weather report here, unless it is something more pleasant to your ears.  LOL

Back from errands and shopping. It is 9. No, no, just 9. Some places are in
good shape but most have not had anything done to them so it is kind of
dangerous to walkers and drivers alike. My sister is the driver. She loves to
drive and is good at it so I don't worry. It was just staying upright that I
worried about. The cold and the extra clothes has me worn out.

Still going through the Cockerham file. I am going to email him later tonight.
I love new contacts! It's been a while.

Rainy, dreary day, most of the day today. Did very little - just everyday
straightening up and then worked on my embroidery machine the rest of the day.
Trying to do pictures - so far I can do a picture, but I have to learn more
about the coloring and shading. The one I did was far too dark. Need more
instructions, but it is a pleasant challenge.

While my soap was on, I did some looking in Heritage Quest and Ancestry for my
Gorham family.

Frigid temps., single digits, some snow showers later.

My baby is 32 today! Happy birthday Kevin. I know he'll never read this, he
doesn't like using computers, he's not into high-tech, unless it's a power tool.

One person can make a difference, I guess. A Nfld. woman complained about one
word in a 25 year old song and radio stations banned it in Canada and it's all
over the news. Maybe her next cause will be worthwhile, lol.

Happy Birthday to Kevin - hope he enjoys many, many more.
One person should not have that much power without a survey to see if the majority of the people feel the same way or if it is truly an offensive word.   For twenty five years it was ok, so why now?  I don't like the media caving in to the whims of one radical.   If she wants to do some good, she should go after the commercials that advertise all the sexual advantages of their products that little children should not have to hear.  That they can't seem to ban because of the "Right to free speech", yet they condemn a song for one word after a long run?   I better get off my soap box.
Ground Hog day is just a little over a week away - I hope he doesn't see his shadow this year.    I think it has been a very hard winter for everyone.

I found a marriage record for David Gorham and Fanny B. Jennings, whom I believe to be Lizzie Maude's parents, but no record of them anywhere else.
I have a feeling Fanny died when Lizzie was a teenager and David remarried to a Sally and had more children.    I can find David and Sally in Census records.   The is a gap of ages between the children, of the two wives, if I am correct.

Happy Birthday to Kevin!!!

The temp has gotten up to 9 today. It is supposed to be a little warmer this
day, but I don't care. I am staying in. It will be warming up to about 30 for
a high by Monday. It has to warm up since it is going to SNOW again. The
rodent is history unless he produces good signs!

Hard to believe that January is almost over already.
