78 already, going to high 80's, humid, rain later

I helped hubby put up a fence yesterday, just the small front fence by the deck.
My son showed up and helped build the gate while I supervised. Next weekend the
back fence is going up.

Hot and muggy again but some clouds to keep it a little cooler.
Went for my sonagram for the kidney again this morning. No change, all is
well.
Now, I have no idea what I want to do today - hard to get started when the
morning is disrupted - my mind is discombobbled. Hate to start big jobs.
when in doubt - dust!!

Glad your son came by to help Earline. Jobs are easier with the right kind of
muscle.

Sheri - enjoy your Birthday Party

It is going to be hot today.  Maybe break records, according to the weather guy.  I have an early day, hopefully will be home early and not have the terrible heat later.

Now working only census for Brocks.  Need to clean it all up!  I even dream about them.  May be time for a real break.  LOL

Have to pick up the cake later today, and some ice cream.  Not going to eat it, will just sit on it in the car.....LOL  Drink it though a straw when I get home.

75 going to 90, thunderstorms later

I think I'll start sewing cushions this morning, I have to keep the dogs inside,
they're paving the alley and the dogs will be barking continuously.
I haven't been getting much blogging or researching done at all lately, I'll get
back to it when the work on the boat is finished.

Same ole weather here - no changes. Today was a day for puttering and putting
the finishing touches on the end of jobs. Had to reconcile my Statements from
the Brokers and get those files up to date. Did Bank statements last week, so
paperwork is getting out of the way, which keeps the piles down. I refuse to
let them grow again and get out of hand. Still have more scanning to do, but it
takes me as long to decide if I need them or if I can just enter data rather
then scanning. But progress is still being made. Yesterday I spent a few
hours on the Irish records looking for those elusive Sullivans. They are
starting to come together little by little. A new Parent here, a sibling there
and the whole family is emerging. All I had before was the direct line only.

I like ice cream with a straw - so much easier to get down. The cold hurts my
teeth.

Now it is time to go cool off in the pool.

No change in the weather - hot and humid. Got to take my car in for service
this morning. Going to look at new ones while I am there. If I can get a
sweetheart deal, I may purchase a new one, otherwise, I will keep the one I
have. I am looking for another van, but want one a little smaller so I have
more room in the garage and one that gets better gas mileage. The new 2011
models are coming out so it is usually a good time to get a good deal on the
2010 model. I hate purchasing new cars - such a hassel, but I can't resist a
good deal if there is one.

Well, the Salesman and I went around and around and we crunched numbers and
recrunched numbers but we could not come to a meeting of the two. He wants two
thousand more then I want to give. Finally, my old car was ready from the
service dept. so I took that home and saved me a lot of money. I never even
got to a test drive or sit inside the car. IF he calls me with a better offer,
I may go down to look at the car and test drive it then we will talk turkey
again. In the meantime, my car is running like a top again and except for the
trouble Ihave fitting it in the garage, there is nothing wrong. with it. We
have a narrow two car garage and the two of us park inside, but if Geo. doesn't
leave me enough room, I can't get my door open to get out of the car once I get
parked.
I put one sheet on the line before I left this morning and it got rained on
before I got home. I am rinsing it again and will hang it in the garage and
finish the other sheet tomorrow. Geo. was supposed to watch it, but he mowed
the lawn and came in to rest and that is when the rains came. He had the mower
out yet, so had to go dry that down and put it away - of course, the sheet was
the last thing on his mind.

High of 88 today, humid, dropping to 80 by 7pm.

I've got the largest 2 cushions sewn and I'm taking a break outside and it's
still hot and muggy, no cold front yet, it's getting pretty breezy though.
The engine is going to be put in the boat this weekend but neither of us has our
boater's licenses yet, I'm hoping to get mine next week, I don't drive so it'll
be interesting. So I have til one of us is licensed to finish the reupholstry.

Little cooler this morning but it will be another hot and muggy day before it is
over. Rained a little in the afternoon yesterday and I think that is what
cooled it down.
Making good progress Earline, I know you will enjoy them when they are finished.
I finally installed Brothers Keeper on this computer. I had installed it on
the other one but procrastinated putting it on this one, because I still liked
my old version 5.2. Well, now I found that I can get the old look on the newer
version by just going to the edit button, so I am really delighted with it now.
Amazing what a little exploring will do. I should have done that sooner. After
I make sure that everything and everyone transferred and converted from 5 to 6,
I will take the old version 5 off the cpu. I feel like it will be loosing an
old friend, but much more pleased with the new one now.
Yesterday, I found where my Daniel Sullivan, Jr. was buried in Colchester, Ct.
which was a surprise to me. I thought he had moved to New York. I knew he had
one daughter, so did some research on her and found where she lived in the town
next to ours all her life and didn't died until 1978. Mom died in 1969, and I
have a feeling she never knew her cousin, once removed, was so close.

It is so hard to switch to a different program.  I don't know now why I waited so long.  I love RM.  I had to remove the old FTM so I wouldn't use it in frustration though.  The programs are so different.  Now I am so pleased about the new one.  I'm glad you can make your program look like its' old version.  Something familiar is always nice.  My favorite part of RM is the sourcing ability.  It makes it almost painless.  Notice I said 'almost'.  You still have to enter them.....LOL

Finally got some rain and a really wild lightening storm.  Cooled it a little.  I have the door open and the locusts are singing so loudly I am deaf to all else.  Today will be warm and sunny.

Birthday week is over and it's back to normal operations....:o)  This weekend the National Guard will be practicing again.  I hate it.  The da** choppers deafen you, and they fly so low the entire building shakes.  I don't understand how all this can prepare them for the big sand box.  I know several of the boys in the exercises and I don't want to see them messed up 'over there'.  I know one of them wants to make several jumps this time because they pay the guy for every jump.   He's hopeful he can go several times.  The last time there was so much wind that it caught his chute just before he hit the ground and he was injured and still hasn't completely healed.  I can't say that I am proud of what we are doing anywhere in the world.  It could be that in the search for "rock-stardom", the news people forget to cover the good things in the world.  It's not really news anymore, just sensationalism.  I think I need a 'news-less' weekend.  B.O. has been such a disappointment.  And we had such hope . . . . . .

I've had a couple of days without a lot of genealogy getting done and I am ready to dive in!  I feel fresh which is always good!

56 with a high of 80, it's almost chilly this morning

So much for the boat engine being done this weekend, the guy that was supposed
to do it took off for Pelee Island last night for the weekend. He's been
promising to do it for a couple of months now, it was suppposed to be done
before we went on vacation, we're getting frustrated, hubby's about to take it
somewhere else. He had the nerve to ask hubby if he'll help another guy pull his
motor out today, hubby said he's too busy. I'm going to search for instructions
on the internet for changing boat motors and see how difficult it is, maybe
hubby and the boys can do it themselves.

Nice this morning. It's also very quiet here in the building. Not often a
Saturday morning is quiet.

I found out last night that hotmail is not delivering a lot of mail either way.
In the middle of my trying to figure it out, the thing threw me to a page
wanting me to verify my email. I was pretty steamed to learn that my empty box
was not because I had no mail. It was just not getting into my box. A lot of
my emails were not getting out either. Anyway I sent out a test email to my
account in gmail last night and waited. Nothing. This morning it was in my
hotmail box with a delivery failure notice on it. Well I am back to gmail for
my lists and here for the group. Very frustrating. <sigh>

I took a break from Brock research yesterday. Nice.

A slight breeze out there this morning - still hot and humid but the breeze
makes it more tolerable.
I worked on pruning the bougaviellia this morning. Near ate me up before I
quit. That thing has thornes that make a rose look like bumps. Has some fern
vines entangled along with some other vines that were choking it out. I cut a
great deal back, but had to quit when I got too hot and sweaty. Filled up a
trash can, and will try to get the rest finished next week. Thinned out some of
my aloe plants that were multiplying like rabbits and got rid of the ones that
outgrew their usefulness. Then I jumped in the pool to cool down and now I am
in for the rest of the afternoon.
Earline - I don't envy your hubby with that job, but it looks like if he wants
it done, that is the only way to do it. I make the assumption that it is an
inboard motor. Does he have a hoist to get it out? The biggest problems my
Dad had was making sure he lined up the shaft when re-installing and caulk
around that shaft good when finished. Don't want all that work to go down in
the lake.
Sheri - maybe that is why we have seen as many posts for you lately, they have
been going to cyber space?

75(his morning, high of 89, looks like the cool temps are gone for the next
week.

The boys came over and helped put up the back fence yesterday, it looks great.
The dogs don't like it, they can't see out in the alley and the fence is higher,
Angus used to jump up in the air like a kangaroo to see over the old fence,
scaring anyone using the alley.

Sheri, I don't know what's up with your hotmail, all of my contacts for Hotmail,
messenger and Windows Live got deleted a few months ago when I changed my
password. I haven't gotten around to adding them again, I'm waiting until all of
the changes with Windows Live are done and it's more stable.

Norma, yes, it is an inboard motor, the old one has to be taken out,
we bought a newly rebuilt engine for it a couple of months ago hubby uses the
winch on his tow-truck to lift the engines, he helps our neighbour out quite a
bit, so that's why he offered to do our boat. I told hubby to hire him to do it,
maybe it'll get done.

Looks like the boys will have to help hubby get the motor in too - your neighbor has other ideas about his free time.   Hubby sounds like he can handle it and if you want to use it before the season is over, he will have to tackle it soon.   Good Luck

We are raining here today, getting some much needed rain, expecially on the two trees we transplanted.   Supposed to last most of the afternoon, so I am going to set up my embroidery machine for a new design I worked on last week and once that is running, I hope to work on my scanning pile again.

Only 76 deg. this morning but the humidity was 99%. Felt like walking in
moisture. Unbearable. All the rains we had yesterday have left clouds
hanging overhead with no place for all that moisture to go.
I just discovered that my Military ID expires on Monday the 16th. Supposed to
be on my birthday which would be next month - so someone screwed up. I have to
find out what paperwork I need to renew the ID before Monday. Sometimes they
want the sponsor (Geo.) to be present and sometimes I can get a authorization
from him notarized and he don't have to go. Since the rules change so often, I
want to call first so Idon't make a run to Patrick AFB for nothing. The good
thing is that this time, they will issue it for life. No expiration date.
Another reason why I need to know if I can renew it on my own or need Geo. He
hates to go over there, which is why I go to get the prescriptions and the
commissary.

76, Going to 89, humid, thunderstorms later.

Norma, you have to include those stories in your memoirs. I have led a fairly
boring life, I've lived in the same county all my life, only been out of Ontario
once, for a weekend bowling tournament in Cincinatti, other than going shopping
in Detroit a couple of times. I think if I wrote my memoirs it would be more
like a pamphlet than a book, lol.
My dad was officially a veteran, but he got through basic training, went to
California and by the time the train arrived, the war was over. My sister has
some pictures of him and his buddies under the HOLLYWOOD sign. I have his army
photo when he was 18, my youngest son looks a lot like him.

I have a funny story, I will tell later when I have more time.   I can laugh at it now but at the time, it was frustrating.  Actually, I have a lot of funny stories, I guess we did not live the normal life of the average person, with moving to new duty stations all the time, so it did create crazy scenarios.
I remember my Grandfather telling us stories about his childhood and he would get to laughing and he had as good a time telling them as we did hearing them - I'd like to think, that just a little, I may take after him, because I do enjoy my stories now and get a good laugh from them.

Just got back from the Doctors and have a full week of them, but the good part is that they are all preventative - not problems.

hot and humid, going to 90

I set up another blog this morning, a LiveJournal one that I can post to
anytime. I can post with my Blackberry, IM, or even voice post with a phone
call. It's at: http://ejbradt.livejournal.com/

We got our new firepit yesterday, hubby had it made like the one at the
campground but it ended up bigger than he specified, he wanted 30" and it was
36" so he wasn't charged for labour, just materials. he won't have to cut the
fiewood now. It is made of 1/4" steel with a grate on top made with 1/2" square
steel rods. It will last longer than we will, it's going to be our family
heirloom we can pass down to future generations, lol.

We have another Extreme Heat Warning today. The sprinklers are out everywhere.
I wish I could have run through them.

Yesterday just before noon I got a call that I still have trouble believing. I
didn't talk about it then and still feels funny to put it down. My cousin was
killed in a wreck in Illinois. He had to be identified by dental records. The
cab of his truck burst into flames, and he could not get out. He was my brothers
best man many years ago. He tormented my sister at work just the other day.
You know, one of those good guys no one can say anything bad about. He had just
told my brother a couple of days ago that in 6 months he would have enough time
in to retire from driving, and he was going to. His wife Debbie had finished
treatment for breast cancer and her hair was growing back. I can't stop thinking
about how she feels. They were so close.

There is a small article here:
http://www.tribtown.com/news/killed-23796-body-seymour.html

You never know what the day holds.

Had an early morning appointment with the Periodontist. Came out and noticed
that a big shower must have occured while I was inside. The car was wet and so
was the parking lot.
Got home and the heavens opened up again. Not one drop on rain on me.
Geo. had surgery on his nose this morning. He had a biopsy done about a month
ago and it was a melanoma so today they took the rest of it out and
reconstructed the skin to cover the hole. Tomorrow he goes to another Dr. for
additional removal of one on his side cheek the same thing. Weather cooler
today because of the rain.
Tomorrow I have an appointment in the a.m. to get my eyes examined and new
glasses. Busy week. Thursday Geo. had to go with me to Patrick to get my new
ID. I need his signature and I have to get it before it expires next Monday
so this week is nothing but run, run and run. The good thing is that after
this week it should all be done.
My stories will have to go on hold for a while.
Just for the record Sheri - I was not always a Gutsy person. The life style
changed me to be able to do what had to be done. A great improvement over the
old mousey me that people walked all over.

80 deg. this morning with a high of 90. Maybe some showers later. Tropical
depression down South of the Florida that may turn into a storm, so we will or
can get outter bands of rain.

Off to the optomatrist this morning for my annual eye exam and new glasses.
Didn't get new frames last year, so looking forward to something new and a
little different this year.
A friend of my daughters from Virginia was on the plane crash in Alaska
yesterday. Too much sad new lately, we are due for a change.

We still have the Extreme Heat Warning out until 8 p.m. tonight. This has been
a terrible summer for weather.

I have a busy day today. Hope to do some research later. Should be home by mid
afternoon. Still on the Brock family. I have some holes because I don't have
1830 and 1840 census access. But even with that I have had to remove a couple
of my Henry's children and rearrange a few others. I love it when you feel
right about the search!

Everyone have a good day!

It's officially the hottest summer on record in our area, average is 3 days of
90+ temps., so far we've had 11 days and 2 more coming in the next few days and
there's still over a month to go.

I have started adding images to my tree on WeRelate, I wish that the images got
uploaded along with the gedcom. I figure the easiest way is to do one family at
a time. I started with my paternal grandfather's family since I have been
researching my loyalist lines.

Not too hot here today - 88 deg. with a nice breeze. Left here at 7:00 this
morning to get over to the Base early. At 7:30 they will take walk-ins without
an appointment to get the new ID's, and since we couldn't get an appointment
until the 18th, I had no choice but be a early walk in. We were second in
line, and had to park half a mile from the building. The Pharmacy and
commisary do not open until 8:30 so we went to BurgerKing for some coffee and
then I left Geo. at the Parmacy with the car and I walked about a mile to the
Commisary. When he finished, he drove over and met me in the middle of the
store and helped me finish. Then we came home and unpacked etc. In the
meantime, I decided my new eye glasses we not adjusted properly and they tinted
the glass to dark. So as soon as I put away the majority of the food, ran down
to Lenscrafters and left the new glasses there for fixen. Have to pick them up
later this afternoon. This whole week has been one errand after the other, but
when I finish up this afternoon, I am done for a while.

Earline, with that much work, I think I would be a little concerned that someone
can or will make changes that maybe are not correct and screw it all up. Can
that Happen? Can you revert the changes back?

researching my loyalist lines.
