66 with a high of 79 and muggy, storms later
My neighbours went to Barrie this weekend to run for the Relay for Life.
Norma,I think that there aren't very many genealogy bloggers in the county, I've
only found one other one so far. OLd Time Corner's author is a newfound cousin,
our common ancestors are my 4th great-grandparents, Aexander Taylor and Grace
Duncan.

I'm so proud of my youngest son, he has been staying at his grandparents house,
helping take care of his grandfather. He's been going in to work late for a
couple of months so that he can help get him up in the morning. He was given
last rights a few days ago and is bedridden now. My son has some other job
opportunities which pay more than double what he's making now but he doesn't
want to because he wouldn't be able to help his grandmother. He says that the
jobs will still be there but he wants to help his grandma out as much as he can
now, that's what's more important to him.

92 very hot deg. this afternoon. I puttered for a while outside this morning
and it was hot, very hot. After lunch, I cooled off in the pool and now I will
be in for the remainder of the day. A/C is working like it's supposed to and
very quiet.
Going to tackle another stack of papers on my desk next. I am so pleased with
the progress I have made, that it is encouranging me to do more.
Earline, I think you have every right to be proud of that young man. My
gracious, how many men today would put family above their income. A truly
gallant act - he must think a lot of his Granddad and Grandmother.

We had some tornados last night, first one in Canada this year. The Seacliff
Park got hit bad, no trees left standing at all. most of the roads in the south
of town are impassable. One house has maple leaves embedded in the siding.
Hubby's brother was out all night with the fire dept. We didn't hardly get any
wind at all where we're at, we are about a mile away from where it hit.

I'm glad you're ok, Earline!  We were supposed to get that kind of weather last night but it went north of us.  This is the worse part of spring and early summer.  Glad you didn't see wind.  I have seen what a tornado can do.  A few years back it got a friends house out in the county.  Out front it had left a few large trees standing but they had straw stuck in their trunks like darts.  Weirdest thing I'd seen.

It is nicer today.  Only going to get to mid-70's.  Nice break from what we have had.  The heat of summer was early this year.  But this morning I was actually chilly.

Going to work on updating my site, today.

We lost power for a few hours but along the lakeshore will be a couple of days
before it's restored, north part of town didn't go out at all. My brother lives
down by the marina where it is still impassable. There were no injuries from it
at least.

Wow Earline - glad no damage to your house. We had severe storms early last
evening with high winds and and inch of rain in fifteen minutes, but nothing
compared to what you had up there. A little pick up of brances and twigs today
and we are back to normal.
Still going through stacks of paper and making amazing progress. Trash can has
become the best recepient for most of it. Mail from my sister still in the
envelopes - some was just neighborhood information and some I could scan to
files. Geo. said he is going to get me another trash can to help me work
faster.
The good part is that I enter it to the computer as I find it rather then put it
in a "pending" file. I had too many pending files. Now is the pending time.

WOW Norma!  Feels good, doesn't it?  I am trying to eliminate 'pending' altogether.  Put it where it belongs right in the beginning and no problem.

73 deg. this mornig with a high of 92. Weatherman says the humidity is 98% and
I believe him. I have to iron today so that will keep me inside this morning.
My Pending files are getting smaller and smaller. I found where I had noted
that I mailed off for a SS-5 form for one of my relatives to get more
information on their parents, and for the life of me I can't remember ever
receiving the copy. It may be buried in the pending files. I also found a
couple of Naturalization Record indexes on two of my family members that were
"pending" for me to find where to mail off for the original. That will be my
project for today and they will be mailed.
I can't believe how much I let my work slide backwards. No wonder I wasn't
making much progress.
I would like to take out the carpeting in this computer room and replace it with
some porcelain tile, the same as we have in the kitchen. The sooner I clear
the desk, the easier it will be to move the furniture out to get the job done.
I guess you might call it incentive.

Earline - appears you got some of those tornadoes that came across from the mid
west, across Ohio and into Pa. Saw it on the news and it was
devastating.............

Norma, you're finding buried treasure!  LOL  Sounds like you are enjoying the whole thing, and ready for some research.

We are in for a nice but warm day.  So far so good.  There was apparently a sun that was hiding.  It is out today.

I saw the tornadoes on the news too.  I don't even like looking at them on the news.  I'm glad Earline and her family are fine.  It always takes a long time to clean up the mes and the scar is there forever.

cooler today, high of 72, sunny
I sent a post by email, it didn't arrive yet so I won't repeat the email
message. I kept on getting an internal error message on a blank page when I came
to the site, finally I can post.

The house my son and family was living in last summer down by the lake has a
couple of trees on it now. Mybrother lives acroos from it and didn't get any
damage. Their church has a lot of damage to the roof that was recently fixed.
The Seacliff Park, where the Tomato Festival is held, which has hundreds of
trees, will be barren by the time they get it all cleaned up. My sister-in-law
lives across the street from the park, her house is okay, her swimming pool is
totalled. The golf course by the lake, also with hundreds of tree, is heavily
damaged. A few boats in the marina were damaged, my daughter-in-law's uncle
spent the night on his boat at the marina. A new plaza with restaurant, and
businesses that just recently opened was heavily damaged. My husband and I went
to the new restaurant,Shoeless Joes, for our anniversary last week. The
greenhouses down by the lake were heavily damaged

I'm surprised there were no injuries, there were 7 deaths in the same storm in
Michigan about an hour earlier. It happened about 2:30 am. they say that if it
hit during the daytime there would have been more injuries because the stores
would have been open and there would have been more cars on the streets. We were
lucky.

Well, anyway, we went out in the back yard and found our birch tree had two
branches broken, no other wind damage in the neighbourhood, not even any leaves
or twigs on the street. I think that we had a twister touchdown in our back
yard, the branches look like they were twisted.

I had trouble getting up here earlier this morning. I finally gave up and when
I did, I got a message from my AVG that there were two virsus. AVG got rid of
them and then I ran some scans after that to make sure my cpu was clean.

Earline - sound like ya'll have good Karma and living right. That was just a
little too close for comfort.
Sheri - Indeed, it's like going to a garage sale, I never know what I will find.
What I am finding is that I am getting forgetfull and need more notes on my
papers. Tried to call the Conn. State Library to get information on where to
get the immigration papers today and they are only open Tues. thru Fri. but we
are still moving forward and the piles are getting lower.

branches broken, no other wind damage in the neighbourhood, not even any leaves
or twigs on the street. I think that we had a twister touchdown in our back
yard, the branches look like they were twisted.

I got out this morning to do some shopping and some errands and some enjoying
outside. Now I am back working on those "pending" files again. I am so
thrilled that the piles are getting so small. I do have a seperate pile for
scanning now, but only because I hate to scan one at a time - it is easier to do
them in batches.
I also closed MyFamily.com down yesterday. Had to call them to get me (the
Administrator) off the site, but evidently that is how they work it. I close
all the members, news, pictures etc. and last of all the site and then they have
to close me. I had until Friday to get is closed or pay again for another
year. With all my family on Facebook, they all forget to come visit
MyFamily.com. Even my daughter asked me not to close it and yet she forgot to
visit it just like the rest. Granddaughter would visit almost every day but as
she said, she didn't want to miss anything. (A little nosey) The rest figure
they will find it on facebook and if it is important I will call them on the
phone.

rain ending this afternoon, high of 72

That's something that I have to do yet too, my family isn't using the
FamilyLobby site, I'm not going to close it down just yet, just remove some
members so that it is free. I'll send a newsletter out. Norma, I'm not closing
the Family Lost and Found site, it's free anyway. I haven't been on there for
months, have you?

I filled out the forms for my 1st certificate application for Joseph Haines,
Sr.UEL, I have to get my proofs together and print them out yet. I have to get
copies of my ancestors land petitions and any other early family info next
month when I visit the Friends of the Loyalist Collection at Brock University. I
have to go to Elgin County and find my 2nd great-grandfather's death record and
burial site. I'm hoping that his parents' names are on it. I have to fill out a
second application for his son, Nathanie Haines UEL too. I'll just make two
copies of everything.

I haven't been out to even see what the weather is like - the temp. is 84deg.
and appears to be sunny with a light breeze. Among my "pending" files, I found
indexes for naturalization records for two of my ancestors. For two days I
tried to call the Conn. State Archives Library which is where I was told I could
get the original copies for $25.00 each. I finally was able to get hold of
someone this morning and she told me that they (most of New England) are stored
at the National Archives in Waltham, Mass. So I went on line to find their
address and low and behold, they have on=line ordering of documents for only
$7.50 a copy. Needless to say, they are on order. I have no idea what
information they will contain, but it has to be a lot more then what is on the
index.
That gets rid of two more pending files and creates two more while I wait for
the copies to come in, but at least it is a work in progress and I can still
move forward.

Earline - I can't remember when I was up on the Family Lost and Found, but it
has been at least a couple of months. If the MyFamily.com was a freebie, I
would have left it alone and even though the 29.95 per year would not break the
bank, it was becoming a source of agrivation - just me and Granddaughter
checking in to make sure she didn't miss out on anything.
Anyway - I am still pleased with progrss and desk is getting larger every day.

Sounds great, Norma.  I love it when things heat up and I'm organized.  That seems like a good price for the records.  I hope they are full of data!  Everyone seems to be getting ahead in some way.

Hot, hot and hot with continual high humidity.  Got woke up by a storm this morning very early. Not feeling great due to horrible allergy problems and can't take the humidity.  I'm thinking that moving north is going to be it.  In the winter I wavered.  Now I am sure.  North it is!

I just updated my Alexander tree on WorldConnect.  Waiting for it to show.  Working on my site.  I am going to change yahoo emails and delete the old one sometime this week.  So I will be joining in the new one (not actually new, but unused).  I've gotten rid of a couple of email addys altogether.  Simplify.  The older the email addy the more junk you have to deal with.  Yahoo is no exception.

The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Combine multiple calendars with Hotmail. Get busy.

It's going to be a nice sunny dry day, high of 78. I think I'll play in the pond
this afternoon. Hubby accidentally introduced some duckweed when he was given
some pond plants last summer. It was all confined in the one section until I
turned on the waterfall a couple of weeks ago, now with the 3+" of rain on the
weekend everything is getting choked out by it, I have to scoop most of it out.

Working on my site. I am going to change yahoo emails and delete the old one
sometime this week. So I will be joining in the new one (not actually new, but
unused). I've gotten rid of a couple of email addys altogether. Simplify. The
older the email addy the more junk you have to deal with. Yahoo is no
exception.

79 deg this morning with a high of 88. Going to be real hot this afternoon.
Once I get my sheets on the line, I am going to start scanning to get rid of
that pile. It doesn't look too bad, so I may be able to get it done in a
matter of a couple of hours. Some of them are death notices for people that
are not in the family tree - just friends that my sister sent. I don't need
to keep obits. of my sisters old boy friends or my mothers High School friends.

Norma, I do the same thing.  I sure hate to throw them out but I do.  I had a file full of obits for the county group and just tossed them.  Very hard to throw things like that away.
Earline, I don't envy your job.  But you do get to play in water!

Hot already here.  I am stiff and sore for some reason.  Pleasant . . . . NOT.  LOL  Must have slept really wrong.

Getting ready to open the next file.  I think I will do Beard, because it is smaller and will not take a long time.  For some reason I don't like the Beards.  <sigh>  How weird is that??

74 deg. this morning with a high of 92. No rain in sight for the next few
days, but the humidity is 92% this morning already. Hot and muggy.
My neighbor went on a thirty day cruise out of England to several Countries so I
will take a break from the morning walk while it is so humid and try to do some
extra exercise in the pool later today.
I will have to check out that wisestamp later also, I didn't see that in Kim's
newsletter, but some days I just skim through her mail.
Didn't finish my scanning yesterday - had a lot more then I thought and found
more in envelopes as I went along.
Still making progress and that is what is important. The working area on my
desk is still expanding and it is much easier to have incentive to finish now
that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I a sure it will be so much
easier once the back-log is cleaned up and I am just working on the present
stuff.

Warm, on it's way to hot.  Lot's of sweat in the forcast for today, with possible storms late.  This is my early morning go-go, which I hate.  I am no good early since the accident.  It takes at least an hour to get my arm to move properly.  Mornings make me feel 95.  I need a lot of time to feel like my age, so I have to get up 2 hours early just to work it out.  Looking for the weekend.

Scanning is a big job.  I spend as much time reading and looking as I do scanning.  I don't like to set it all up for one or two pieces either.  I like to do a bunch at a time.

Got an email from a guy, well, family, this morning.  He had dna done for my Brocks.  Lots of information to go through later today.  He and his branch is still in Tennessee.  Can't wait to go over and digest everything he said.  My cousin Ken had his DNA done, but has not told me the results yet, other than teasers.  We are from the German branch.  Now more German.  I am mostly German now, I think.  Hmmm.  I will feel more at home now at Oktoberfest.......LOL.

The program was in Kim's freebies.  I always look at them but seldom get them.  This one I wanted to play with a little and it was so good I kept it!  Kim's great!  I want to tweek it a little though.

65,high of 81, humid, rain tonight
I think getting the duckweed out of the pond is going to be endless, it seems
like they multiply before my eyes. I took out 1 1/2 buckets of it. I never
thought I would have to weed my water garden.

Speaking of weeding, I have to get the vegetable garden weeded again before it
gets out of control. I'm not getting much genealogy work done this week.

Yep it's me! I have deleted the old one from everything. Now I will wait til I
figure out how to get my old address book into the new one. Then it is over. I
am a new person. I hope I will be better......LOL.

I have a cousin in Tennessee that took a DNA test, and today I got an email from
another researcher that is working on Brock. He also had a DNA test. When I
compared the numbers from both men, they matched! I know where part of me came
from! I was going to catch a brother and swab him, but it's kind of a moot
point now....

Oh yes, we could pretend I'm new...

Maybe we should all say welcome to the new Sheri!!!!

Hot and humid today - so far a wasted morning. Had a recall on my new Maytag
dishwasher so called them for the fix. He was supposed to come out between 8
and noon. He has twenty seven minutes yet to go before he is late. Little I
can get into, until he shows up. I am getting antsy....

Well, thank you.  I have been dodging storms all morning.  Seems it is going to be this way for the next week!?*@^&  We are under a flood warning (DUH!).
I am in the census records and will be between storms.
Hope your guy comes and takes care of your dishwasher.  So frustrating when they don't show up....

I sent this before.  Yahoo sent me an email saying they were sorry.  This email is not registered.  So........how did they send Norma's post to this box?  <sigh>  I think it is ok now.  I hope this posts.
