not as cold today, high in the 20's
I didn't get much done this weekend, another migraine but I feel better this
morning. I hope to get my sewing room finished today. My sister gave me a ton of
different fabrics that her friend inherited, I'm sorting it out, finally. A lot
of home dec fabric etc. that I'll never use, I'm going to pack it up to donate
to the thrift shop.

carpeting in the bedroom this morning and hope it will be dry by bedtime. Have
to do the whole house, so this is just a start, but also a good time of the year
toget it done.

another bag of clothes to throw out. In another three weeks, it will be time
to start prunning back all the dead stuff from the winter freezes, so have to
get inside stuff done now.

I already posted under January before I realized it was February.
Our snowfall is way below normal this winter, they say it's because of "El
Nino". Our biggest snowfall was about 3".

I got up and found my new fridge to be quite warm.  New in November.  I have lost everything in it again.  They brought me another new one, exactly like the one I had..... Do I feel confident?  NO.  Needless to say, I have a headache.

It is already 31 and rising.  Going to be a nice [weather day].

Happy February!

Sheri
Wow, that's a bummer.   The warranty on the new refrigerator should cover the cost of your losses.   There should be something that protects the consumer and I would check into it.    sorry about the headache, but it would give me one too.
I had to have the cable man back this morning.   Something went wrong with my remote and it had the Cable and the tv working against each other.  I'm working just fine again.

Rainy day today.   I got all ready to walk this morning and as I stepped out the door it started to spritzle so I said hello to my neighbor , we talked a few minutes and right back in the house.   After that the heavens opened up and the rain came down.   Geo. was on the 2nd hole at the golf course, so he quit and came home.   Calling for this all day today and more tomorrow.   We needed the rain, so I can handle it, but Wed. I'm going to go out and run the streets so it better clear up then.

And this dummy did the same.   Thanks for opening up February Earline, I will look for a new cover picture later this afternoon.    I knew it was Feb. l, it is my Granddaugter's wedding anniversary, but her daughter, little Hailey, had to have her tonsils out this morning and I was all wrapped up waiting for information from them as to how she was doing.    Granddaughter says, she did better then she expected, but Hailey is in pain and they are now back home recovering.
My mind is obviously not in sinc.
I'm glad your migraine is over for now, I am always so thankful that I don't have that problem when I listen to you and others that have that problem.  It is so debilitating - you'd think by now they would have a cure for them.   They know what causes them, why not what gets rid of them.

Rather then a house, this month, I have put up a few of the strange buildings on
the property belonging to the Booth brothers. These were two excentric men
that were descendents of original settlers of the town of Stratford,
Connecticut. As the story goes, they both fell in love with the same lovely
lady, and she evidently choose neither one of them. They each had their own
large home they had built on adjoining property to live in with their intended
bride. They later seemed to be in contest with each other as to who could build
the most odd structure on their land. The Windmill you see and the one next to
it are just a few of the many building they erected. One of the brothers large
home is seen in the back of the picture. They had a sunken, open air church
complete with an organ, which today holds Easter sunrise services. There is a
large building that I have no idea what it's intent was, but is now used as a
community building for weddings etc.
During WWII, they were the first to build an Air Raid Shelter under ground and
another building that housed a clock tower. I am doing most of this by memory
so can't remember all that is there. They lived in the North end of
Stratford, known as Putney, high on a hill, and the back yard slopped down to
where there was a perfect view of the Housatonic River a few miles away.

The brothers donated their property and buildings to the Town of Stratford when
they passed away, so that is all community property now.

When we were growing up, our Grandmother lived up past this property and we had
to drive by it, so we enjoyed seeing the new buildings going up

Rainey day again, but clearing this afternoon. All the rain is greening things
up to where the lawns are starting to look like spring has sprung. 74 deg. now
with a high of 75 - we have nearly reached our high. Took advantage of staying
home and shampooed my kitchen carpet (area rug) and then washed the floor as
well. Last week I cleaned and polished the counter tops - so now the kitchen
is pretty much complete with spring cleaning.
Tomorrow I have bags of things to go to the thrift store, so will run errands
and blow the stink off of me - as my mother used to say.

Sheri, I hope you are feeling better today and your fridge is cold.
I started another notebook to share with my cousin, tried emailing with files
attached but I saved it to draft and the files disappeared. The notebook is
easier and faster.

I just received a transcription of a will from my cousin for Isaac Doan, my 3rd
grgrandfather. It was dated 1848 and proved 1850. In it, Harriet Fernetta Doan
was named as his daughter. But she wasn't born until 1853 by all records I've
found (census, obit). I thought she was the daughter of Linus Doan, but no
mention of her in his obit. If she was Linus Doan's sister, why would his son,
Allen C.Doan swear an affidavit on Harriet's son's birth registration in 1940
saying he was his uncle?

Getting well up into the high 30's today.  Still putting together the Alexander work.
I dreamed that I got up and opened the fridge and the light was out.  Ha.  I am having nightmares about it now.  Needless to say I jumped up and went to check.  All is ok as of this moment!......LOL

Got my scan in the morning.  Can't wait to get it behind me.

My cousin emailed me and told me that the name was illegible, the H and the F
were all that she could make out so she is not sure but the Doane Family Assn.
has her as Isaac's daughter too. From more than one census she was born in Ohio
on Dec.4, 1854(I got the year wrong) and came to Ontario in 1855. I am wondering
if she may have been born before her mother met Linus, so that would make her a
half-sister to AC and that's why she's not in the will. The front page of the
paper that has her obiit in it isn't uploaded right and I get an error page, the
thumbnail is there. I know that her obit is on that page, the death announcement
is on another page. I guess I may have to go read the microfilm to find the
answer. At least I know where to look.

dreaming after it happens a postmonition???lol

I think that is what I got. . . . . postmonition.  Not a very useful gift.  I always know after the fact!  LOL

Had my dexa-scan this morning.  I was the first one, no waiting.  That was great.  Won't know what it says til March unless the Dr. calls me.  She probably won't unless it is really bad.  So, no news will be good news!

Postmonition - a new word and I like it!! We all can have that, I suppose.
Hope the results are good from the dexa scan - need strong bones to last for
many years. Of all the tests, that is probably one of the easiest and fastest.
All kinds of osteo. therapy out there to help.

great. Won't know what it says til March unless the Dr. calls me. She probably
won't unless it is really bad. So, no news will be good news!

We are under a winter weather watch.  Rain, ice then snow.  YUK!  It is cold and cloudy now.  Rain will start tonight.  I am hoping they are wrong again.  Last time Kentucky and Tennesee got it and it completely missed us.

My daughter said they are going to get snowed in again this week-end.  Starting Friday and ending Sunday with accumulation of up to a foot.   Unusual cold weather all over this year, including us here in Florida.   I hope your weather man is wrong, and if he wants to send more rain our way, we will take it.

It's raining or sleeting........anyway it is wet.  The temp was 35 about a hour ago and now it's 34......you can see where this is going.  I am in the 3 - 6 inch area, so the weatherman says.  I am going to look for a new weatherman.  Something on another channel.  One that tells me what I want to hear.  I changed my wallpaper on my desktop to a nice tropical beach scene.  We'll see if that helps!

LOL Sheri - When the weatherman gives you lemons, make lemonade.   We have strong winds today but partly sunny and a nice 71 deg.   Will not last over the week-end but was nice to run a few errands this morning.

What a fast service. Received the copy of the death record from Colchester,
Ct. on Bridget Sullivan. Confirmed that her father is Cornelius Sullivan and
Mother is Mary Kelly. Also gave her age as 75 which means she was born abt.
1822. I had figured about 1825.
As much as I wanted to believe that the Irish naming pattern was true. this
makes one of the list of 6 children with the wrong name. Five of the children
fit the naming pattern, but the 3rd son should be named Cornelius after his
grandfather and his name is Florence (Florrey). I wonder if he had a middle
name and they were switched.
Now if I only knew where the parents died, I would know where to look next.
Not sure if they stayed in Ireland or came to the US also.

Today I found a Timothy Sullivan married to a Mary Roche at the baptism of his
son Timothy Sullivan born 7 April 1785. I have Timothy as the father of Daniel
(B: 1785)but not the next generation. My Daniel's first son is named Timothy
and his third son is named Daniel which if the pattern is correct, the
GrGrandfather should be named Timothy. It is a very good possibility. They
were in Killarney (not Cahersiveen), but it is next door in the same County.

Ok.  The picture didn't work.  My world is all white today.  Underneath all that white is a layer of ice.  Even my fence is covered.  The wind is howling and it's cold!   When the snow began to mix with the rain/sleet yesterday, the snowflakes were breath-takingly huge!  I'd never seen them so large.  Beautiful.

We got about 1/2" of snow overnight, my brother-in-law in Newfoundland is
digging out from about 2' of snow this morning, glad it's not us.
I think the snow ploughs have only been out once this winter.

Very possible. Ellen Sullivan Bernard, did not follow the Irish naming pattern
as did her parents, but she married a Frenchman. She did however, name her
daughters after her Grandmother and mother and herself, but not in the proper
order, so it makes me wonder if she named her second born son Florence, was it
after the Grandfather and could Cornelius have been Florence Cornelius.
None of her boys were named Cornelius and only one was named for the father -
none of the other naming rules were followed/
Somethig new to look for?

We are warm and very windy here, but my daughter has been without power since
early this morning with two feet of snow and still coming down. She has no
heat. She ran her computer off the battery (laptop) for a while this morning,
but no news from her the rest of the day. I am concerned. She said the snow
was very wet, many trees were bending from the weight of the snow so power lines
are coming down. She herself has many large trees in her back yard.

I hope you ladies are staying warm and comfy and staying out of the snow.

Daughter got power back on yesterday afternoon, so she has heat again. Snow
stopped and now she has to face shoveling her driveway in order to get her car
out to get to work on Monday. Will probably take her that long - and they are
calling for more snow again on Tuesday and again on Wednesday. I can't
believe the amount of snow they have received. Some of that cold snap has
reached us here in Florida, but not near that bad. We went down to 42 deg.
last night, but will start warming up again tomorrow.
Hope you all are staying warm and safe.
