OK, I checked the map and it looks like a wonderful place to live let alone
vacation. Lucky him!

this I wished I still lived in Connecticut so I could do the Cemetery that my
Mom and Dad are in. It is a small Cemetery behind the firehouse on the Main
Street and goes back to the Civil War. Many of the Towns founders are buried
there. We have our plot there and it might be nice to have my neighbors
recorded, along with me. When I look back, I made so many trips to that
Cemetery and took many pictures over the years, I should have saved them and
started recording them from the pictures. Hindsight is always 20 x 20.

well so don't forget to look on the site for the area you are looking in. But
many simply don't accept grave photos. Indiana does. I've done several
requests for cemeteries here in town. But I am not able to do a lot. This
morning when I turned on the computer and got my mail I had a small, family
cemetery that is on private property emailed to me! Only about 6 stones, but
the public cannot get to it. Nice submission for the county site! I have to
finish it up and get it online today.

suspect. Nada, not one in a 50 mile radious.

I can't believe this is July already - half the year gone!!!

76 deg. this morning with a high of 88. Mostly cloudy with possible showers.
We had showers almost all of yesterday but no accumulation to speak of.

Just to be different - I put a picture of a ship up for this month. It is the
Schooner "Orient" which brought my Gr.Grandfather John Scott his wife Ellen and
son Thomas to New York from England in 1854.

It is hard to believe.  The year is half over.  You are on the ball though.  I wouldn't have remembered.
It is 63 and cloudy this morning.  Very nice relief from the heat.
Monday my sisters 14 year old had a side pain so bad she could hardly stand.  They took her to the ER and her pain just went away.  But they ex-rayed her side anyway.  They told my sister she had a large mass in her kidney and it looked like cancer.  But the pain she had had nothing to do with what they found.  They don't know what caused the pain.  Anyway, they had to take her to Riley Children's Hospital.  So far all I know is she will lose the kidney.  The 14 year old doesn't understand because she was not sick.  Never been sick.
Anyway, I had just sent off a post about what a beautiful day it was on Monday and got the call.  In just an instant life can change.  A child shouldn't have to learn that.
I'm going to be working on my FamilyTwigs site offline today.  I want to upload a section of the new design tonight.  I'm also working on a genea-mystery.

Happy July!

Ooooh my goodness - how sad to be so young with all that to face.    Lets hope that it is not cancer and just a fatty mass or something similar that just has to be removed with no complications.   Thank goodness she had the pain (for whatever reason) to get the proper care she needs.
They are going to do a MRI next Thursday on my kidney - but they are sure that it is only a cyst that bears watching - maybe she could luck out with something like that?    I will keep her in my prayers.

Thanks Sheri, I'm sorry to hear about your niece, I hope it isn't cancer, but
she's lucky they found it before she had any symptoms.

I have to go shopping this morning, hubby's birthday's on Monday, we're having a
bbq, I have to get supplies.

It's cool today, cloudy, and very busy.  My niece is at the hospital today, and may be admitted.  Had to have more exrays as they found something in her lung too.  I think I have emotionally shut off.  Waiting is not my strong suit...

For what it is worth - the Doc. told me it is not uncommon to find things in the lung.   We sometimes inhale or ingest something and it will stay there and calcify.  At her young age, it may not have been there long enough to calcify - but only bears watching.   I would rather think along those lines then to think she has big problems.   The biggest problem is that it always takes so long for the test and sometimes that only leaves more questions then answers.  None of us have a lot of patience when it comes to our health and rightfully so.
I am still keeping her in my prayers..........

It probably means that she has nothing new to tell you - these are slow processes.   We have been since April trying to find the source of my problems and we are still testing.   My primary care Doc. did a blood test to determine if there was Cancer in my system - so we could rule that out.  That to me seems like a simple test to do on your niece to do the same thing.  That could certainly take a lot of fear out of the waiting.

75 deg. this morning with a high of 92. We have had rain on and off for the

and the grass growing and me out of the pool. We need it so will not complain.

76 deg. this morning - a little foggy but the sun is trying to push through.
Will be another hot one - expected to be in the low 90's.

Sheri
Whats the latest news on your niece or are they waiting for more tests.

I am going to try to get some research done this afternoon. I should clean the
outside of my windows, but not in the mood for that mess today. Maybe next
week-end!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday.  It rained all day and most of the night here.  It did not stop local fireworks though.  Very loud night.  Today it is 64 and very cloudy but dry.
They don't know if it is cancer or not.  He said it was [he thought] contained in the kidney.  The lung was fine.  It is a large mass and has a blood supply, [not good] but he just doesn't know.  He said he'd never seen anything like it in a child her age in his career.  He didn't want to biopsy because if it is the c word, he is afraid of spreading it.  So they are going to remove the kidney and get it in the lab.  Then they will know.  We don't know when other than he wants to get it done this coming week.  Good news though about the lung.  Whatever it was just disappeared.
It was nice to finally have some time to talk to my sister, one on one.

Knowing little about kidney problems I googled it and this is a excerpt that I
copied to explain why they will not biopsy and it does makes sense:
Because most solid kidney masses are cancerous, they are not usually biopsied.
Depending on where the mass is in your kidney, you will want to consider a
partial nephrectomy by an experienced surgeon, which will save most of your
kidney.

In that instance - the mass was small - but it might be worth looking into a
partial removal rather then the whole thing. The case in question had hers
done eleven years ago and no re-occurance of cancer since.
We had rain early in the evening but cleared in time for the noise - I will say,
I think the economy did cut down on the number of purchases this year because
they did not seem as bad as usual.

Oh, thanks.  They said they have not seen this is a 14 yr. old.  It is huge and the kidney probably has little function left.  I wish I had got to see the x-ray.  Anyway they gave the cancer talk but said they don't know if it is, and said they can't leave any of the kidney because of the size of the mass.  But further tests showed nothing in the lung after an x-ray showed something, so I believe anything is possible.

Indiana hasn't got as bad as many states.  Kentucky and Ohio are really bad but we have stayed at about 10%.  There were plenty of fireworks.  In the rain.  We did not go out this year to watch.  It went on in the neighborhood til about 11:30.  Long night.  LOL  This year the playground picnic area has a roof over it so I am sure the BBQ went on as well.  It is extremely quiet around here this morning!  LOL

Did they do an MRI of the Lung?   My primary care doctor told me that the spot they found on my lung is so small, that it would not be visible on an xray - so the Mri gives a much bigger and better picture.  I would say the same thing for the Kidney - plus a ct. scan.  They may not be able to biopsy it, but they sure can get some great pictures to take away a lot of the guess work.  It still is not something anyone wants to see in a child and the fear of the unknown can be horrific - my prayers are with her.

They spotted it on an x-ray and did an MRI and there was nothing.  As far as the kidney is concerned, they have done every test known to man on it.  It was first spotted on a regular x-ray they did at the local hospital trying to find what caused the pain.  She was sent to Indianapolis and they did everything!  They were able to see that it had a blood supply.  Not a good thing for sure.  My sister was told they would make the decision on what followed, i.e. chemo, no chemo, radiation,  no radiation, etc.,  after they knew what it was.

Well, I hope they can remove it asap and that all the cancer is contained in the kidney itself, the the chemo or radiation can or could be a jic.

near 80 today
the yard sale went okay, but we didn't make too much money and there's a lot of
stuff that didn't get put out, so we're going to have another one with the
neighbours in a couple of weeks. The weather was good all weekend, but I was
busy preparing for the bbq and it wore me out, so we didn't have it today.
The bbq went okay. it wasn't as big a spread as usual, but I was making
everything myself, usually everyone brings something. My son's family just got
home from the island about an hour before we got there. The grandkids didn't
want to go at first, but now they can't wait to go back.

Sorry the Garage Sale didn't do better - another indication that economy is
still slow. I'm sure the BBQ was enjoyed by all.

My car had a freak accident sitting in the garage Sat. Geo. was edging the
driveway with the garage door open walking along facing the garage. Evidently
he hit a stone and it threw it at the rear window of my caravan. Shattered it
to pieces. I heard a loud bang in the house and came out to see black pieces
of what appeared to be plastic all over the floor behind my car. (All my windows
are tinted). Didn't notice the window out and looked all over trying to figure
out what happened. About that time Geo. finished and walked over to find out
what I was doing and I told him about the big bang and then we both noticed the
window on the car. What a mess, inside and out. He called the Insurance Co.
and then are sending a glass company out this morning to replace the rear
window. Some time between 8:00 and noon. I need it fixed for my appointments
later in the week.
A lesson learned - never edge the driveway with the garage door open - he said
Gee, it could have been my car.

It is 64 and feels kind of stuffy.  Bet it is going to get hot again.  I liked the cooler weather.

Boy, Norma!  I wouldn't have thought that a trimmer could throw a rock big enough with the force to break a car window.  I'm glad you weren't in the yard!

It's not a weed wacker type machine - they probably couldn't do it, this is a
blade that goes along the edge of a concrete walk or drive and gives a knife
sharp edge to the lawn and is run by a engine similiar to a lawn mower. The
blade goes down in the ground about three or four inches and that is what dug up
the stone and threw it.
I am still waiting for them to come out and fix it - they have ordered the
window and as soon as it comes in, they are going to install. Supposedely -
now between 1:00 and 6:00. I can't drive anywhere the way it is so I sure hope
they keep their word. That window shreaded down into pieces so small - it is
amazing. I have a bucketful of glass inside the van let along what has fallen
out and the majority of the window is still in place just waiting to fall.

Norma, that edger is dangerous, there should be a guard on it to keep stuff from
flying in the air. I hope you stay inside while it's being used.
I finally got all of my weeding done, now the big pump on the pond quit
working,I have to see if I can try and get it working again, it's expensive to
replace.

It does have a guard on it - but obviously it does not work well. I do stay
away - because about four or five years ago, one of those little rocks hit our
window in the computer room, while he was edging the walkway in back. That
window cracked but did not shatter. After that I learned to stay far from it
while he was using it.
