I bought Collectify My Stuff, a program for organizing my collections years ago,
I thought it was in 2006. After our first computer crashed, I never reinstalled
it on the new one. When I was deleting my thousands of emails,( about 4800 left
to go)I ran across some emails from the company(it's just Collectify now) and
decided to reinstall the program. I looked everywhere for the key but couldn't
find it. I sent them an email requesting the Reg. key last night, and they
emailed me with the key and said that I purchased the program in Aug. 2004. I
downloaded the newest version and started to put my collections in it again. The
new version is better, and I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it again, it went
up from $99 to $149. Now they have another program just for home inventory for
insurance purposes which is $49, but the one I have does that too. There is a 30
day evaluation of the full program you can download. It kind of reminds me of
the Genealogy programs.
You can make catalogues of your collection too. It's a really good program.
There is a video of the features at http://Collectify.com.

the same name and posted those results, thinking someone would pick up the ball

with ship records, that was my area so I guess they are not doing anything about
that. I have not been back since - but I do know, that when we had A.C. Beth
spent very little time because of her own site and her work. Sharon used to
get tied up with her other projects and left it solely to me for long stretches.
Appears they are getting back to their old habits now that they have established
themselves.

competitive - wanting more people and more people - never enough. Sheri and I
prefer quality rather the quantity so we are most comfortable with our little
site.

and I agree with Sheri - I am having a whole lot more fun learning about blogs,
and interesting sites and our own meaningful converstaions that I don't really
have time anyway.

For twenty dollars they will do a look up - but will not guarantee they
will find anything. I am snail mailing a request for the birth
certificate with the vol. and page number I found at FHC so they should
find something for the twenty bucks.

Sheri
I was just up on your "other side of the monitor" and noticed where you mention
wanting more of the brownware - Marcrest Daisey and Dot.
Go to this site and you can order whatever they have available and hoping it is
the ones you need.
They have a special on where they are only charging $5.99 for shipping at the
present time for any or all orders.

I have used this outfit several times - actually I received an order from them
just yesterday. I added to my good china to expand the settings from 8 to 12.
I didn't think I would ever be able to match it after fifty years - but they had
it. On my Noritake china, I am now replacing all the pieces that were broken in
my last move. They sell good pieces of slightly damaged. I have been getting
the good - like new pieces which costs more, but just to be able to get them is
amazing to me.

It even has the cereal bowls!  I knew they had made them but had never seen one.  Thank you Norma.  I can complete the set slowly and not just hope to find the right sale/shop.  I had not run across this site.  It's helpful when you know they are on the up and up too.
Thanks!

Your more then welcome.   I had heard there was a place in North Carolina that carried discontinued patterns and odd pieces of china as far back as 1980.   Every time Geo. and I would be going through North Carolina I would mention we should try to find it.    Then one day, while googling, I found them on-line.    My first order (which was testing them) was for $300.00 (brave sole that I am) and everything arrived in a timely manner, in two boxes and all packed securely.   Since then I have been on the email list and they have cut prices on several items with the recession as well as lowered the shipping costs.

Hurry! April 15th is almost here. File your Federal taxes FREE with TaxACT.

I had trouble sleeping last night so came out to the computer room and did some
Census checking and found that one of the names for one of the siblings I had
listed for Quinton Rankhorn/Ranhorne was different then the names I found in the
Census. I have a feeling that the mother gave me a 'pet' name and this may be
a recorded name. Have more checking to do, but figured while I am in Virginia
Beach visiting my Granddaughter, I will have her call her other Grandmother and
see if she can get the straight poop! Many of them are buried in the Norfolk
Cemetery so I would like to take some time to check that out as well. We have
a day or two of spare time and Geo. is planning to play golf with
Grandson-in-law while we are there, so maybe Granddaughter will drive me to the
Cemetery-or leave me the car so I can go.

Norma, the census takers were bad spellers, I don't know how they picked
census-takers in the past, but it wasn't for their spelling accuracy. I have
found that nicknames were commonly used in census-taking, they were more
concerned with head-counts than names. I have yet to find a census with my
grandaunt's name on it, her name was Henrietta and I've only seen her name as
Nettie in censuses. My second cousin had her sister down twice, as Attie and
Harriet, one died in 1906, one died at 6 years of age. I found one thing from my
cousin's papers, I found out that when Harriet died from eating poison roots, my
grandfather ate dome as well and would have died too, but he vomited after
eating them and she didn't.

Not sure about the criteria for Census takers back then, but I had a Gr. Aunt
that did the Census in 1910 and my mother was a Census taker for the 1940
Census. (she was a good speller) The main thing is that they print or write
clearly (well that isn't true) and they record a record for every house (that
isn't always true either) This Census they are encouraging the Hispanics to
come out and do the Census so what does that tell you?
Anyway, the problem with this one person is that I found a John Ranhorne in the
census but the only child I had that fit in that time frame was a Vernon
Ranhorne that the Grandmother gave me. Unless Vernon died at childbirth or at a
young age - and John was the next child born? Anything is possible.

We went to the auction on Saturday, but my back was aching so we just stayed for
a couple of hours. I got a good deal on an antique stoneware mixing bowl and
some cast iron bake ware for camping. Hubby got some baseball cards. There were
a lot of people there and it was a big auction, it probably lasted all day.

Well, I think more people are checking out auctions, etc. before buying new.
They were waiving the buyer's premium if you paid in cash, they've never done
that before. Everything was going low, nobody wants to part with their money.

I see a lot more people going to Thrift Stores now.....
We drove through some rain today in North Carolina and South Carolina. We are
in Georgia and hope to be home tomorrow by early afternoon. We are both ready.
The older we get the harder the trips seem to be. We enjoyed seeing all the
young uns.

I have a ton of laundry and a lot of work to do, but it is so nice to be back
home, that I will enjoy getting back to normal - whatever that is.
BTW Sheri - Congratulations on all the photos for the cemetery project. That is
quite an undertaking and a well needed one.

Well - this is not my week. Yesterday when I went to PAFB - my window would not
open at the gate for the guard to see my ID. Had to open my door in all the
rain. Knowing that, I decided that I better not go to the drive in window to
pick up my Rx - so had to park and go inside - dodging the rain drops.
Then today I had my appointment with the urologist and they want more tests
done. They found a small cyst on the kidney but not to worry about that - just
watch it, all other test came back negative with the exception of the polyp they
cauterized while I was there. But still having original symptoms so now I have
to go for a IVP next week. They insert dye and watch it through all the
functions. I am so far behind in my work I was going to clean house tomorrow,
but now I have an appointment to get my window fixed. So it has been a very
run, run week - all in bad weather.
I hope next week will give better news.

My grandmother always said, "when it rains it pours".  I have had times like that, Norma.  It just seems like nothing goes right ever.
My daughter had a lot of the IVPs.  She now has nuclear tracers instead of the dye.  Personally, the nuclear tracers scare me.  They even say she is "live" for so long after one.  She doesn't have them often anymore though.  Thankfully!  It's been about 4 years now.  She was born with Spina Bifida and all the problems that come with it.
Hope everything goes well, Norma.

Sheri, I think that the courthouses should have everything backed up offsite,
but I guess they're still stuck in the 20th century.

I have been busy with my vegetable garden the last couple of days. I used a
pitch fork to work up the garden, got tired of waiting for hubby to rent a
tiller. The garden is about 20x40. I planted some tomatoes, onions, peppers and
garlic that we bought a few weeks ago. Now I think I'll let hubby plant the
seeds. He was upset that I did it by hand, but I got tired of waiting, I didn't
want a weed garden again this year. I had to remove a two year old maple sapling
from the middle of the garden and broke a shovel.
Hubby has to remove the ornamental cherry tree by the garage today, it's
diseased and dying.

That is back breaking hard labor - but one that you can look back on with
satisfaction and probably enjoy the fruits of your labor so much more when the
crops come in. They say that garlic helps to keep bugs away from the other
plants - I hope it works.

Norma, I have a mid-back injury so I use leverage and body weight to work the
soil. I had a harder time raking it out than digging it up, I can't use my arms
very long. I think it does a better job with the fork than with the tiller
anyway, it goes deeper and doesn't chop up the worms.

Some people would use that as an excuse to do nothing - I'm glad you don't let
it hadicap your activities.
Good luck tomorrow with your results!!!!!

Thanks Sheri, I'm sorry to hear about your niece, I hope it isn't cancer, but
she's lucky they found it before she had any symptoms.

I have to go shopping this morning, hubby's birthday's on Monday, we're having a
bbq, I have to get supplies.

It's cool today, cloudy, and very busy.  My niece is at the hospital today, and may be admitted.  Had to have more exrays as they found something in her lung too.  I think I have emotionally shut off.  Waiting is not my strong suit...

For what it is worth - the Doc. told me it is not uncommon to find things in the lung.   We sometimes inhale or ingest something and it will stay there and calcify.  At her young age, it may not have been there long enough to calcify - but only bears watching.   I would rather think along those lines then to think she has big problems.   The biggest problem is that it always takes so long for the test and sometimes that only leaves more questions then answers.  None of us have a lot of patience when it comes to our health and rightfully so.
I am still keeping her in my prayers..........

It probably means that she has nothing new to tell you - these are slow processes.   We have been since April trying to find the source of my problems and we are still testing.   My primary care Doc. did a blood test to determine if there was Cancer in my system - so we could rule that out.  That to me seems like a simple test to do on your niece to do the same thing.  That could certainly take a lot of fear out of the waiting.
