I've been doing maintenance on my computers this morning, got my network running
with the printers, updated the desktop, my husband uses it, and whenever an
update comes up he says "remind me later" and wonders why the computer is
slowing down,lol.

I was ready for the day.  I had gotten everything up to date and patched.  Actually I got the patch in Oct. 2008.  I made sure a couple of days ago that my windows was up to date.  So I went to bed and slept without worry about it.  I had taken meds so I did sleep too.
Hard to believe that it is April already!

A thankless job Earline that has to be done. I try to do my as I go along.
On the week-ends I usually clean out all the old document files and run scan
disk and system scan. Inbetween - during the week, I try to run crap cleaner a
few times along with registry repair pro - adaware and spy bot. I Especially
run registry repair pro after any downloads.

Sheri

My sympathy to you with your alergy. My Granddaughter and Great Granddaughter
have alergy problems, and they are running to the doctor all the time. We (me)
have to be thankful for what we have or better yet - what we don't have. I
hope you are feeling better soon.

We had some good thunderbumpers this afternoon and more of the much needed rain.
It is now hot and humid - a sign that summer is right around the corner. Real
sticky today.

Norma, Adaware and Spybot aren't compatible, I had both of the programs on the
desktop, but I only had one installed at a time. I use McAfee Antivirus and
Personal Firewall, and Spysweeper for adware and spyware on all computers, I pay
for a yearly subscription to MSN Premium and it is included. It's easier than
paying separately for everything and having to worry about expiration dates. If
one expires, I just go to MSN and download the new one.

It's going to 62 this afternoon, maybe I'll venture outside later.
Hibernation is almost over, lol.
Anyone have any April Fools pranks played on them? Besides the virus?

It's 51 and clouds.  The cats watching a fat robin sitting on the fence.  She'd like to get at it.

I run the Windows firewall, Windows Defender, A-Squared (every other night), Malwarebytes (1 or 2 times monthly) and AVG anti-virus.  They all work well together so far.  I was unable to use Spybot and I had too many problems with Adaware.  Hope everything keeps working well.

I've never had any problems with AdAware and SpyBot - they both work fine for me.    I am using AVG for my anti-virus and windows firewall.   I like Zone Alarm for a fire wall but when I first started with Vista, it was not compatible.  They have since updated their Vista drivers, but I have not switched over yet.   Geo. has switched to Zone Alarm and so far seems to be doing just great.   All mine is freeware - I don't pay for any of them.

Yes, George has trouble with his Adaware - maybe he is having the same problem Earline had?

Worked on cleaning the computer room this morning, then decided to give G. a hand outside.   Two minutes into pulling some weeds, I stepped into a fire ant hill, hidden under cover of the weeds.    By the time I noticed, my foot was covered with fire ants and many of them biting.   I brushed them off and ran in the house to get my benadryl cream.   Thankfully, I am not allergic to them, but benadryl is one of the few things that will take the fire and itch out of the bites.    They are just starting to form the bumps so that I can tell how many of those little critters left some of their venum.  So far I can see seven but not well defined yet.

I guess that is one of the reasons why I haven't worried about switchig over to
Zone alarm - I have been very pleased with windows firewall.

Tonight was my last program at the library.  Of course, there was a tornado watch in the middle.  When I went out to get in the car it was sprinkling.  I turned on the car and put it in reverse and the sky opened up.  It poured all the way home.  It is a little windy now and raining but we are out of the watch and the warnings are south in KY.  I can hear thunder to my south.
I am tired tonight.

Someone sent me a tip yesterday about driving in the rain - during the day or at night, wear sunglasses - it makes the rain disappear on the windshield and makes it easier to see to drive.   No matter how fast the windshield wipers go, they can not go fast enough sometimes so this is supposed to fix it.
Time of year for tornados - we had them north of us yesterday and last night they had them in the panhandle.  So far, we have been lucky in our area.

Well, TGIF!  It's 46 and very cloudy.  It is supposed to be cold for a couple of weeks.  Shoot the weather guy??  Would that help?  It still looks very dreary out.  So cloudy it was dark for a long time this morning.
I am hoping for an uneventful day!

We are 81 hot and muggy degs.   Calling for rain today - so it is overcast.  Can't hang my sheets on the line so feel a little handicapped today.   Working on some ducks for my GrGranddaughter.   I made her a bureau scarf last week with some red Beta fish on the ends and a large gold fish in the middle.    Now I have some ducks I am working on for another one.   Then I guess I will have to work on something for my GrGrandson's bureau.

After that I plan on working on some sweatshirts.  Cut it up the middle and put in a zipper, then embroider it on each side in front.    Makes a nice throw on in a hurry and easy wash and wear.

I do work on my research in between all that - believe it or not.

I am going to try the sunglass trick when I get the opportunity, Norma.
I've done a lot of sweatshirts like that over the years.  Well, without the embroidery.  I have added appliques though.  Keeps kids in affordable jackets.  They wear them out and grow out of them too quickly.  One of these days I am going to get one of those machines.  Last time I went to Columbus to shop I stopped by a little sewing machine shop and played around.  I am not willing to spend that much right now on a 'toy' for me!  But one of these days!

This morning I have been  typing out obits.  I have stacks of cut out of newspaper obits sitting here waiting.  So I made a dent this morning.  Now I have a notepad full ready to copy and paste into my program/sources.  Feeling really good about the work!

Sheri
Since I purchased my machine, I have found that Viking does resales.   A lot of people purchase and then trade up - and a lot of people purchase and never learn how to use them and give up.   It might behoove you to check with your local dealer and ask them to watch for a used machine that you might purchase and make sure the lessons go with it.
I say that because when I first got mine, there were some sleepless nights, thinking that I spent all that money and wasn't going to be able to learn to use it.   Now, I am getting more and more comfortable and enjoying it.

Obits.    I am too lazy to type all them out, I am in the process of scanning all mine and saving them to sites for safe keeping.  Maybe if I was a lot younger, like more your age, I might think more in those terms, but I could run out of time, before I finish all these projects.

I've really always wanted a long-arm quilting machine.  Thousands of dollars!  That one I know I'd use all the time.  I have 4 quilt tops done and waiting to be quilted right now.  Full-size ones.  My wish list has every machine on it.  LOL  Our local went out of business.  The closest is Columbus, about 35 miles north of me.  I looked at a used Bernina.  It was all they had right then.  There are other shops up there I am sure.  I just have to find them.

I'd like to get all of my obits in txt files and copy/paste to the program.  It's getting me some experience with RootsMagic4 too.  It will take a lot of days of working to do it.  I had a lot done, but there are always more obits, sad to say.

And, if I were to not have anything to do, (LOL) there are county obits to do.  I really can't ever say, "I have nothing to do today" cause it would be a lie....HA

36 with a high of 50 today
I started spring cleaning this week, I want to paint the livingroom this spring.
The house needs painting desperately too, but that's not my department.
Our Clownfish died yesterday, she was at least 13 years old. Now we only have a
blennie and two 1/2" hermit crabs in a 80 gallon aquarium. I'm thinking of
moving it downstairs, there's not much to look at now, the blennie lives under
the rocks and only comes out to eat and it takes up too much space, not to
mention that I have to replace the drywall behind it because of the salt.

Norma, I would if I could, I can't even give it away. I figure it will be less
work downstairs, we filter the water down there and my husband has to carry it
upstairs in 5 gal. bottles. We've got the game room downstairs and the floor is
more level too.

Thats too bad, they are so expensive to purchase when they are new, but you do

34 going to mid-40's
We're going to get snow tomorrow, only 1-2 inches I hope, if the storm tracks
much further south, we'll be in the 3-6" area.
The only good thing about all the snow this winter is that the lake levels are
getting back up to near normal, they've been low for over a decade.

less work downstairs, we filter the water down there and my husband has to carry
it upstairs in 5 gal. bottles. We've got the game room downstairs and the floor
is more level too.

It's 51 here and we are supposed to get storms later.  They have us in the severe area of the map.  You never know what a day will bring.
I've been so busy for 3 days!  I have entered over 100 individuals and over 200 source/citations into one file.  My Janes/Jaynes file.  I can't believe how many I got done.  I was in the groove and lost track of everything.

Sheri, I think that I'm going to start doing that later in the week. I have to
get my basement straightened up first. The paint has all come up from the minor
flood that we had a couple of weeks ago. It didn't get into the carpeted room at
least, but we had shelves made of particle board that got wet down there, so we
are replacing them with a new pantry cupboard, but we'll have to put planks
under it because it is particle board too. Isn't anything made of wood anymore?

Nice house, Norma! Is there a story attached to it? Is it a family place?

My allergies are really bad today. So bad you can see it!

We're now under a Tornado watch. Yippee!

As a matter of fact, there is. My sister's, son-in-law's parents own and live
in it. It is located somewhere near Roanoke, Virginia in the Southern part of
the State near the Blue Ridge Mountains. On the mantle over one of the
fireplaces, it had the word Ramsey enbeded. I did a study of the Ramsey family
and found them to be early settlers of the area. The original home burned in
the mid 1800's and this one was built around 1880 (I think) by one of the sons
of the original Ramsey. (will have to check my notes) I'll put something up on
it later under a seperate topic.
My sister goes there once a year for a vacation with her daughter and
son=-in-law. She says they eat in a different dinning room every evening on
different china. Lot of rooms for guests.

Earline - more snow???? Easter is getting closer - the end should be near.
Good wood costs an arm and a leg. Particle board is a great substitute if you
keep it dry. As you found out - a good base under it will do the trick.
