Welcome to the Seattle Metalheads. SMH is a group of Western Washington metalwork and machining enthusiasts - hobby and professional. Bob Powell and Grant Erwin are the list owners. Please forward suggestions using the list owner link below.
In this group is expertise on welding, brazing, cutting, blacksmithing, machine tool maintenance, machinery moving, turning, milling, grinding, painting machinery, wiring machinery, 3-phase power (including in a single phase home), scraping, buffing, riveting and many other topics. Our membership includes professional metalworkers and teachers as well as people new to the hobby.
The purpose of this group is to reach a wide audience of local folks seeking peers, help, metal-related events, classes, special opportunities, etc. This is a moderated group. When you write requesting to join, you must include your general location i.e. the city you live in, as this group is restricted geographically. Requests to join which do not have your location will be denied henceforth. See below for more details.
This is not a general discussion group.
This is not a club, but many of us like to meet face-to-face. Do you have an interesting shop or place of business? Would you like to invite some folks over for an afternoon??
Posting guidelines (for the moment):
OK:
- Announcements of unique local events.
- Seeking local help, peers, networking.
- FS or WTB ads for *local* machine tools.
- Overlap with blacksmithing, live steam, woodworking ???
Not OK:
- FS ads for easily shipped or non-local items.
- Discussion not specific to western WA.
- Namecalling, flame wars, or any impolite behavior
