Java Developer Openings at Speakeasy!!!

Speakeasy seeks peeps with sleek technique!

If you're interested in working with current technologies (Spring & Spring MVC 2.0, Webflow, Hibernate) and agile methodologies while actually delivering working projects, we might be the right fit for you.

What exactly does "agile" mean?  We ascribe to engineering tenets in support of the principles of agile manifesto.  These include pair programming, continuous integration, unit testing, selenium-based automated tests, etc.and use Scrum as a project management framework.  You can't do agile in a vacuum, though, and agile isn't a software anomaly in our company.  Our CEO isn't a scrummaster, but he gets it.

We build broadband and VoIP products, organized around our reputation for smart support people (and tools) that solve customer problems rather than give them the runaround.  We already have a successful small-business VoIP/broadband offering, and are looking to expand.  This isn't just maintenance -- we have brand new products in mind that need participation from inception to deployment.

Send us an email and let's talk more about what we're doing with this tech, and how you can be part of our team.

Oh, and here's a buzzword list if it helps you out:  Spring, Spring/MVC, Hibernate, WebFlow, WebLogic, Sense of Humor, JMS, XML, SOAP, Web Services, Ivy, Holly, Ant, Continuous Integration, Agile, Scrum, UML, Color Modeling, Junit, Selenium.

Company Summary:

Job Description:

We’re looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Java developer specializing in Web Applications and Web Services technologies to join the development team responsible for Speakeasy’s enterprise software applications.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop software using our current web application standards in Java (Hibernate, Spring, Web Services, XML, …)
  • Participate in various phases of SDLC including design, coding, reviews, testing and documentation
  • Utilize design methodologies, object-oriented design and design patterns
  • Work with other teams throughout the company to determine feasibility, business and functional requirements and technical designs on assigned projects
  • Provide ongoing support, maintenance and enhancement of systems

The position requires the following skills and experience:

  • BS in Computer science with 5+ years of industry experience
  • 5+ years solid hands-on experience with Java development
  • 3+ years experience with Spring and Hibernate
  • 3+ years experience with at least one major application server (JBoss, BEA Weblogic, Websphere, …) in a mission critical environment
  • Experience with Web Services and XML technologies (SOAP, XSD, XMLBeans, etc…)
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with design patterns and modeling methodologies such as UML
  • Experience with multi-tiered enterprise software application design and development
  • Knowledge of computer network infrastructures, technologies and protocols
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently or within a team, especially cross-functional teams
  • Ability to determine unique and creative solutions to problems within a rapid development environment

·    Experience with web interface development (HTML, XHTML, XML, XSL, CSS, AJAX , JavaScript, …)

·    Experience with SQL database design and development, preferably with Oracle

·    Experience with automated Java build and test software (Ant, Cruise Control, JUnit)

·    Experience with web application usability, UI design and testing

·    Strong track record in creating effective web pages

Speakeasy offers a full suite of benefits, including full medical, dental, and vision coverage (100% paid for employees); a 401(K) plan with a company matching contribution; a transportation benefit; and many other excellent perks. We're looking for talented and highly skilled individuals to join our dynamic and fast-paced culture and contribute to Speakeasy’s continued success.
