Welcome to our Yahoo Group, where SCN members get together over a cup of tea and the Internet to talk about lifewriting.
The Story Circle Network is dedicated to helping women share the stories of their lives and to raising public awareness of the importance of women's personal histories. We carry out our mission through publications (a quarterly journal, annual anthology, books), a web site, classes, workshops, conferences writing and reading circles, and woman-focused programs. Our activities empower women to tell their stories, discover their identities through their stories, and choose to be the authors of their own lives. For information about SCN and how to join, go to our website: www.storycircle.org
This SCN listserv, one of SCN's official publications, is designed to expand these and other aspects of SCN. It is open to members only and designed to be a place where we can trade ideas about lifewriting, ask questions, network, get up-to-date information about SCN activities, discover resources for learning more about lifewriting, and stay connected. Our aim on this list is not to share life stories--if you want to do that, you should join one of the Internet Chapter's writing circles: http://storycircle.org/ecircles.shtml
"We are simply hungry for good stories, fiction or nonfiction. Story is the umbilical cord between the past, present and future; it keeps things known. Story becomes the conscience of the community, it belongs to everyone. When we think about what it means to be human, it is always answered or explained through story."--Terry Tempest Williams
