A call to scifi writers.
I am writing to ask you to assist a new non-profit 501(c)3
organization called The Federation of Galaxy Explorers. The purpose
of The Federation of Galaxy Explorers is to educate and inspire
America's youth in space related science, engineering, and civics.
The vision of the organization is to expand the frontiers of science
and technology to explore and develop space. The mission is to
educate, guide, and prepare the next generation for the challenge of
expanding humankind's presence in space.
Specifically, I ask talented science fiction writers' to join an
advisory board effort called the Space Arts Committee. This
volunteer activity involves recommending changes to web sites,
curriculum, brochures, uniforms, product lines, visual media, etc.
Most of the work can be conducted over e-mail. The purpose of the
Space Arts Committee is to provide the Galaxy Explorers organization
with the necessary tools to do the following:
- Inspire Galaxy Explorers (and potential recruits) in an effort to
explore their talents and interests,
- Retain Galaxy Explorers by maintaining an atmosphere of respectful
creativity,
- Compel the public to think about the relationship between humans
and space in new and exciting ways, and
- Reminding the public that bridging the gap between "the actual"
and "the dream" is the essence of the Federation of Galaxy Explorers
vision.
The Committee considers any and all art forms inspired by space.
Examples include:
·Paintings
·Drawings
·Sculptures and Models
·Film and Television
·Literature and Poetry
·Computer-Based Art
·Music
·Dance
·Other media
I ask your support for the Galaxy Explorers program because science
fiction writers can inspire people in a way that science education
alone, cannot.
The Federation of Galaxy Explorers works on the paradigm of a
members' participatory club where children attend monthly meetings
and periodic field trips. Adult volunteers teach Galaxy Explorers
with easy to understand educational material and fun-to-do projects.
The activities provide a hands-on understanding of space and earth
science, engineering principles, rocketry, and space citizenship
(role of government, power of citizens, the promise of space
expressed in art, writing, history, and business). Members are
rewarded for participation and achievements with ribbons, medals, and
certificates.
To date, Galaxy Explorers pilot programs are at 12 schools in
Washington, D.C. and Prince William County, Virginia. In addition,
we recently concluded a summer space camp for 150 children. Our
strategic plan is on track to expand the program to an additional
five states, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Colorado, and
Florida this September. Galaxy Explorers expects to have a program
of several hundred thousand children in the coming years. To
accomplish a nationwide expansion, we have established collaborative
working relationships with the National Space Society, American
Astronautical Society, Challenger Center, Astronomical League,
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Air Force
Research Laboratories, NASA, and many others. In addition, the
effort is strongly supported by Congressional Members and staff.
The Space Arts Committee Executive Secretary is Mr. Phil Smith,
psmith@..., 1 (877) 761-1266. Please contact him with your
thoughts on possible collaboration. Additional information may also
be obtained from our web site http://www.foge.org.
Sincerely,
Nicholas Eftimiades
Chairman of the Board

Hi all I thought I'd post the first chapter of my trilogy; will post others if
required. Any feedback will be welcome; hope you read it and let me know what
you think.
Many thanks,
James.

Just thought I'd say hello.
I've been writing sf for the past 9yrs; working on the same idea, a
trilogy called Coalition Network. Just been taken on by a literary
agent who is talking to several publishers at the moment. Will let
everybody know if I'm successful.
Jamie.
Imagine yourself staring out into deep space. The year is 3198 and you
are on a hi-tech spaceship, blissfully absorbing the stillness of the
universal. You are wearing a red skin-tight suit with the words "IGID
Evedar-Ling" printed on your left breast pocket. You know that this
suit provides you with authority and respect and you are the envy of
those in your professional circle. This is because you know you and
your fellow crew members are the best of the very best in your
profession.
Have I captured your interest yet? No? Let's continue.
You are in the Command Centre when an alarm sounds from a nearby
control panel. The ensign on duty informs you there are several
Devil's Spawn fighters heading towards the ship. You are about to
reply when there is suddenly a jolt of your ship, followed rapidly by
three more. The ensign hits the Code Three button and abruptly, it's
all systems go.
Code Three button? Devil's Spawn? What the -? So where exactly are
you? And what do you do for a living? Hypothetically, you're part of a
sci-fi action series called "StarPol". You are on board the policeship
Evedar-Ling and by the sounds of it, you are probably a high-ranking
uniform police officer. If this hasn't perked your interest, I don't
know what will.
Tired of the same old routine day, in day out? Forget sky-diving or
bungie-jumping. StarPol is a action-packed psychological thriller
series that is likely shoot your adrenaline levels to the roof. Do I
have you hooked now? Well, here's the synopsis of the first episode
just to get you started.
EPISODE 1:01 - PREMIERE Someone in Devil's Spawn is planning a
hi-tech crime that could change the course of history and they want
Detective Corporal Quani Andrews out of the way. They put an item on
the Online News Server offering $5 million to have her killed. The
cyborg and the rest of the crew on the policeship Evedar-Ling soon
have a huge task in trying to find out who wants to have her killed in
the first place and what exactly it is that they plan to do next. The
investigation takes the crew to a small planet on the neighbouring
galaxy of Region 4. With help from local police, they use their
equipment to try and track down the culprits. But events take a
dangerous turn when they learn Devil's Spawn have captured andriod
Inspector Hilary Jackson and have reprogrammed her to help them with
their crime. Hilary has been pre-set to uphold the law and her
breaking the law could lead to her detonation. Can the crew reset her
program and save Hilary in time?

Hello all! I just wanted to tell you about a
group I just started. It is for writers, readers,
talkers--anybody. It's not a critique site, but anyone can send
their stories in for "unofficial" feedback. I say
unofficial because that way we can keep the atmosphere lite.
Some critique sites get so ugly. So I invite everyone
to come and check it out.

I have some stories to share that are not yet
finished but maybe if we can work together on them they
will get done. I will also do the same for anyone else
that needs help, in a Author/Co-Author way. Please let
me know. Contact me at : Markus041@.../captainmelas@...
Hi, I'd like to start writing SF, but I haven't
had the courage to start. Well, I have made a couple
of false starts, but never anything to keep going
on.<br><br>In particular I have a number of good ideas, many of
which I have collected into a series of stories for one
universe.<br><br>I'm going to start writing again so, I'll let you
know when I have some material for

Hi everyone, just a short note to invite you to
join a club I've set up to help writers sell their
work in professional markets. I've sold novels,
novellas, short stories, comic book scripts, you name it.
I've won the IHG Award, part of a Stoker, part of a
World Fantasy, and I've been a finalist for the Stoker,
IHG and semifinalist for the Nebula. At my club I can
offer advice, answer questions and provide insights
into the markets. Folks like horror writer Richard Lee
Byers, fantasy author C. Dean Andersson, and Star Wars
artist Dave Dorman drop by to share tips, advice, and
updates about their latest work. It's a very busy club,
with new posts every day. And it's not just for horror
writers -- we cover the broad spectrum of speculative
fiction, from SF, H, F, slipstream, adult, and many other
kinds of freelance material. Search for The
Parasitorium, go to the horror-writing thread, or click on this

Hi! If you like comedy with Sci-fi, you really should read "The Hitchhiker's
Guild to the Galaxy". You probably did already, but do read it if you haven't.
It is the funniest book I've ever read!
Hello! I'm a brand new member. I have never
joined a club before, and I have never published a book
before. I hope I get to meet a lot of sci-fi writers
here! I'm writing two sci-fi books write now, one is
115 pages, while the other just went over 200
yesterday. Best wishes!
I'm new to the club, and to writing SF. I am
looking for a free (or as close to free as possible),
publisher that publishes SF. Let me know if you know of
one? Thanks, and I hope to get to know a lot of other
SF writers.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a sci-fi
writer who likes to throw in a lot of comedy. I would
love the chance to show you guys some of my work.
Check out my Science Fiction Writers community at
IUniverse.com. Give me some feedback, please.
I've noticed not everybody is online at the same time...or I could be on when
noboody else is...<br>Anyway, I think we should get all online at one time just
so we can all meet.
Hello!<br>I am actually writing a story for the
