Dear Person In Front of a Computer,
You're at a webpage for people and/or groups in the SB area who are thinking to themselves, "Hey. I have unwanted but perfectly good stuff in my garage, attic, closets, and so forth. Maybe I'll give it away to another person, as opposed to hoarding it needlessly, which is what I usually do, or burning it in my backyard, which is more entertaining than giving it away, sure, but is also dangerous and bad for the environment. And possibly illegal." Or something along those lines.
So feel free to post whatever you want to donate to someone, whether it be furniture, clothes, electronics, books, children, cars, boats, etc. Rules are as follows:
1) POSTING... Everything posted must be free, legal, and appropriate for all ages.
2) EMAILS... If your member settings are for "Individual E-Mails", expect to get a lot. Change the settings to change this.
3) REQUESTING STUFF... Understand that the purpose of this group is to GIVE THINGS AWAY, not ask for them, and please keep your requests for free stuff to a minimum. If you're going to lodge requests, it's recommended you offer up a thing or two first, and not make your first post, "Hi everyone, can I have a free piece of furniture?"
4) RESPONDING...When responding to messages, email the original message-writer directly.
5) PICKING YOUR STUFF RECIPIENT... Pick whomever you like, and arrange the pick-up in whatever way you feel comfortable with. It doesn't always have to be first come, first serve-- there are some vulture-types who sign up only to immediately call dibs on everything. Personally, I tend to choose whoever comes up with the best story-- no matter how fake-sounding --for why they really, really need the item.
That is all. Carry on.
Regards,
Drew and Raytchell
