If you have gone through the 15 hours of mandatory training and have
invested your $146 in the knife demo kit, it is understandable that
you want to give it a try ("go ahead and give it a try", <<nodding
head>>-->sound familiar from training? they sell you the same way
they teach u to sell to customers!) The big problem is that now your
job is going to cost your immediate friends and family some serious
money. The knives are expensive, but your friends and family are
going to buy from you to support you. This was my experience: I was
very excited to start selling because I was thouroughly brainwashed.
I sold $1500 worth of knives to my family and friends ($800 to
family) in my first 4 days of selling. Then I went to a neighbor who
I didn't know very well, and tried pushing them into buying
something... they saw right through the scam and I felt awful for
wasting their time and acting so ridiculous. I later apologized. That
evening I began thinking about what I was doing, and felt awful for
making my close family and friends buy these knives. Do most people
have bad knives? Probably, but that doesn't mean that they want to
invest in expensive knives, they won't get sick from the knives they
have... the program is designed to make them think that they cant
live without them, but that is manipulative and deceitful. I would
rather have bad knives than cutco knives! Your manager knows that you
have a high probability of quitting after a short period of time. He
most likely made a profit off of your demo set, and he gets 25%
($250) from your first $1,000! You will get about $100 or your base
pay, whichever is greater, they will probably be about equal unless
you don't sell. It is important that you know that you have to send
your demo kit back to OLEAN, NY for a refund! That means that you
have to pay for the shipping/handling! The knives are heavy.. it
costs about $20!!!
My advice would be to cancel all your appointments so that you don't
waste your friends' and family's time. Tell your boss that they
cancelled. Go to the advanced training and talk to the other kids
there about your concerns. Try to get contact info (names and emails)
of as many kids as you can, especially the ones that seemed
concerned. After the first few days, there will be about 20
successful kids, and the rest will be struggeling. Those are the kids
that really need to get out fast before they are forced to pay $159
for the July conference without prospects of making any money! about
half of the other kids will actually do well with the company and
sell a lot of knives, the other half will become unsuccessful after
their immediate contacts dry up. It's all a numbers game to them. You
have to protect yourself from being manipulated by them. I hope this
post helps. Please post any questions or concerns so that I and
others can respond to your specific questions!!! I hope you can help
us expose Vector!
Good Luck!
Lauren
