Hey Cindea,<br>It was a lot of fun chatting
Saturday evening! Sorry if you got to bed late....we had a
good conversation going, didn't we?! Keep me posted on
your side and I'll do the same. Hope to chat again
real soon...Good luck!<br>Terri
Thanks Darlene, I sure dont think I look the
same...Joe and Fred need to set the next date... when they
can participate! Did have a good time...Next time

Lets see more photos, Note that Joyce added one...

Sorry, I missed saturday as well. But Saturday is
date nite LOL<br>Is anyone else having a hard time
logging into the site, Gosh I sure am.<br>I know of a few
other sasebonians that are having a hard time becoming
members !<br>Just an idea, maybe we should run some small
ad's in local papers, or any free papers,
"sasebonians" Unite
I apologize for not being online on Saturday. I
just returned to Guam early this morning from a
work-related trip to Japan and China. I hope to be chatting
with everyone soon!<br><br>Let's keep this club site
going. It's great to see more Sasebonians signing on.
I agree, we must do it again soon. I enjoyed our
"Girls' Night Out", but perhaps we might get some male
participation next time. Cindy, thank you for keeping the photo
album going, I will add some photos soon. Ginger, you
look great, you haven't aged a bit!<br><br>Darlene
Very excited to have seen everyone who was able
to be here on Saturday! We had one join and half the
group showed up! Let us know when anyone wants to meet
again! I'm looking forward to doing this again! Lets see
some pictures appear soon! Lets keep this going and
add new members whenever we can find someone! See you
all soon! :-) Cindy
Hello Everybody! Long time no see...it's good to
be back in touch with everyone! So thrilled to be
able to chat tomorrow. This is way too cool! Lots to
catch up on....later!<br>Terri (Childers) Dalerio
Drop me a line, I'd love to catch up with you. How long has it been since we
last saw each other, 9 or 10 years? <br><br>Darlene Huggins Neher
(darneedsalife@...)
Hi...so glad you've found us! We've been having a great time catching up with
everyone. It seems like forever since you interpreted for my first TV
appearance!!! Please email me: MMTorpey@...
Hey does anyone know where Richard Mc Cue is ?<br>His dad used to 8mm all the
football, basketball, and all the events at school. I would love to get a video
copy of that stuff, would be way to funny
For all of you who attended EJ King at the CP
Building--the building is no longer there. It has been torn
down to build a new Sasebo Community Hospital. Sad to
say, but this is what has happened to the CP, the
building that was also referred to as "Children's
Prison."<br><br>The Sasebo Bridge was also replaced with a more
modern-looking structure. You can still see a portion of the
bridge as a monument in the park located just past the
bridge.
Hi Fred! as you are clicking away at scenes of
present day Sasebo, try to include some pictures of the
main gate and theatre and the school itself, front and
back, and I would love to see what is left of Dragon
Heights. My dad would be very interested in seeing the
commissary and bowling alley. Too bad it is the wrong time
of year.....I would love to see the cherry blossoms
(sigh!)
For a good laugh and a nostalgic look at Sasebo
in the 1970's, read Murakami's book entitled, "69".
<br><br>This writer has written a number of Japanese
bestsellers and he hails from--Sasebo! You can get the
English version of his books at most bookstores and of
course at Amazon.com.
A little bit of History---<br><br>You all
remember Shogun, the book and the movie? The story of
Blackthorne (Will Adams) is based on a real Englishman who
lived in Japan and taught the Japanese how to build
ships. He lived on the island of Hirado, just outside of
Sasebo. If you go to Hirado, you can visit a graveyard
with a tombstone that reads, "Will Adams, married
1589".
Yes, we will also need the ping pong and pool
tables from the Teen Club.<br><br>I vividly remember the
dark "music room" where Deep Purple was always playing
Smoke on the Water. Then there was Kurt Zetsch selling
miniature pizzas and ramen at the snack bar. I believe he
ate more food than he sold.
Hi Fred:<br><br>Thank you for the quick response
and the information regarding the housing, it is all
so interesting to me. With all of our energy levels,
we probably breathed a lot of life into Sasebo. It
is so strange, reuniting with Sasebonians after all
of these years (via e-mail), we all seem to share
the same feeling about having lived in Sasebo - an
experience an "outsider" would not be able to relate
to.<br><br>I agree with your idea on a reunion, but we will
have to track down the old pinball machines to make
the reunion complete.<br><br>Darlene
Darlene:<br><br>I have been to the new housing
area at Hario. It is located past the train station
and is quite far from the Nimitz area. I believe it
is on the outer edge of Sasebo Bay. There is a huge
theme park just outside of Hario base called Huis Ten
Bois. It is a Dutch village with a large Hotel Nikko. I
have not been in the park, but I hear it is a major
tourist attraction for all of Japan.<br><br>Hario base
seemed dead quiet and sterile. Maybe it's my age and the
fact that I don't live there anymore, but Sasebo
seemed to be more alive when we were all there.
<br><br>If we ever have a reunion in Sasebo, I would
recommend that we all stay in a hotel near the old base and
have a '70's music bash (Teen Club-style) at a nearby
club.<br><br>Best regards,<br>Fred
Hi Fred:<br><br>In July I sent a message to you
at your picguam address regarding a Sasebo web site
Mary had found. They pictured new family housing-Hario
Village, High Rise Towers ath Hario Village and Main
Housing. Each looked as if they had replaced existing
housing (if that makes sense), like Dragon Heights, etc.
The areas looked familiar and we were curious as to
whether you knew where they were located. <br><br>Darlene
I will be traveling to Sasebo later this year and
hope to get some good photos to post here. Let me know
if you want to me take a picture of any particular
location. Let me see, how about The Teen Club, Nimitz Park,
Tamaya, Sasebo River...
glad to see everyone, we need to get the word out !!<br>I've told the
Sasebonians I know, they should be logging in soon.<br><br>joe zuilkoski/
williams<br>e-mail me anytime jwpro0582@...
Glad to see were doing this, some of us have stayed in touch. Talk is getting
together for a weekend somewhere. Lets get as many on board as we can. God were
getting old !!!<br><br>jz
Ginger and I got together and thought it would be
fun to set up a meeting time....maybe more of us can
get together here if we know when others will be
here. We thought maybe the 23rd of Oct around 10pm CST
would be a good time....let us know if youwill be here!
looking forward to it! Cindy
Ginger and I got to PHYSICALLY see each other
this weekend! We met at the Oklahoma State Fair in OKC
and we had a terrific time! It was wonderful to see
each other after 25 (choke!) years! This is the start
of something good! :-)
Glad to see our numbers are growing every
day....lets find everyone we can to join us from Sasebo! This
was a great idea Fred....now we just have to catch
each other on here!!! See you all soon! Cindy
