This group's main discussion topics concern the long-awaited extensions of the Metro Rail Purple Line, which presently operates only between Los Angeles Union Station and the present western end terminal point at Wilshire Boulevard & Western Avenue in the Koreatown Area of the Mid-Wilshire District region of the City and County of Los Angeles.

The Purple Line is the former segment of the Red Line which operates through to Western Avenue on the south leg of the line after the two routes split at Vermont Avenue & Wilshire Boulevard, where the Red Line travels northward to Hollywood and North Hollywood and the Purple Line travels westward to Western Avenue, and in several phased extensions, to Santa Monica where it is to meet up with the Rose (Exposition Corridor) Line.
