I'm not sure how to get a message to you. So trying it here. Thanks for
reminding me of her last name. Just couldn't think of it. I have made the same
promise to myself Heather. I'm going to do all kinds of things that I have put
on the back burner for way to long. Want to get back into santas and trying to
oil paint etc.

Hi, I will post pics of my Santas soon - All except Bishop of Myra, because he is not finished yet. Most of these have been my own design and patterns. A few of the beginning ones were from patterns. And, no, I haven't heard of Gail Wilson. Im a lurker too most times but love to talk about santas. The season is approaching to soon it seems. Most of my santas are wood but i see the group uses all types of artistic approaches. Sometimes it would be nice to know how each of us decided on our first santa and if we have it on the shelf yet!!!.
My first santa is a santa carved of basswood. Hes holding a staff and is basically done up in silver and white glitter, holding a lantern.
I just call him santa clause because at that time i didnt know there were so many different names. Yet he sits on the shelf and watches over me all year round. Im so glad santa came into my life and has given me so much enjoyment over the years. Oh , im 65...

I am making the Bishop of Myra with clay sculpted head, hands and feet, mohair hair and beard, cloth body. The Bishop of Myra has a very interesting and fascinating history. He was Saint Nicholas, an early Christian Bishop who presided over the Church in Myra, a city in Asia Minor. He lived from 280 AD to 346 AD. In different countries, Saint Nicholas became known as Sankt Nikolaus, Sint Nicolaas, Father Christmas, Pere Noel, Kriss Kringle, Santa Klass and of course, today the popular name of Santa Claus. If you Google Bishop of Myra, you can read all about him and his wonderful life, starting as a VERY young Bishop. This is my 16th Father Christmas for my Granddaughter. The great part of all of this is that I get to keep them to decorate with until she is 21 or I'm gone whichever comes first. I have enjoyed doing the research on each one of them and certainly have enjoyed making them. They are not playthings,as they are made with fine wools, ermine, velvets, etc. Thanks for asking. Micki
what are you making your Bishop of Myra out of? Id be interested in your project cause i never heard of santa being called that title. What an interesting project and your grandaughter will treasure it im sure... carvinmom

Hi, Im in montana and its cold but a good time to get under and lap blanket and do some santa carving. Im working on a santa cypress knee right now , cause i have some orders to fill. Then i have to start on my xmas ornaments.
The list is quiet since everything got moved but maybe it will brighten up when winter sets in. I lurked a lot but decided to make sure you arent feeling alone !!!!!
Hello Is there anyone out there?? Has eveyone gone to the north pole and left me here all alone??? LOL.. It's to quite we need to make some noise... Im working on a santa... to be auction off at a sielant auction for our local food pantry my son says he looks like bin Laden.. so i might just start over LOL... what are you working on????????????
So far I have made Old World Father Christmas, Russian St. Nicholas, American Santa, Victorian Santa, Pioneer Santa, Old World Santa, Kris Kringle, Saint Lucia, Olde Tyme Nick, Civil War Santa 1863, Sante Klaas in Old N.Y., "Twas the Night Before Christmas" 1848, Pére Noël, Pére Foeuttard, and last year Moroccan Santa. I research each one either thru' Google, or from a display in one of larger shopping malls, and/or go the country (Morocco) I luck out because the deal is that I store them at my house, so that I can decorate with them each Christmas, until she turns 21 or I am gone, whichever comes first. This recent activity has got me sneaking peeks into my workroom where I have a

the fourth dusting (texture dust everywhere) and stays. I am
actually(or was) working on a doll for my vet. It will have a lamb in his
arms and sheep standing by him.
Won't the beard cover that look??? Try a little. My son
lives in Helena montana and is
the chef at the brew house resturant. He loves
Montana. I do to. I have not been there in
about 18 years though. I would love to go but no one to
watch my 4 dogs. My husband
passed away about 3 years ago. I won't put them in a
kennel, one gets something on her skin every time I leave her at the vet and
she swells. Oh well off to dust. IT DOES LOOK
like the end of snow. Don't know where it keeps coming
from. LOL. Shirley

Hi I am here but no one is every sending emails any longer. I live in Oklahoma. I
haven't made anything in awhile. I had a ceiling put in downstairs and the house was
a mess. I have that all clean downstairs except the fourth dusting (texture dust everywhere) and stays. I am actually(or was) working on a doll for my vet. It will have a lamb in his arms and sheep standing by him.
