It was great to meet many of you at the NASA meeting last week.
Definitely good to be able to match some faces with the names on these
mailing lists! It was wonderful to see all the energy and interest
around the family tree project. I expect we'll see some impressive
growth in the weeks and months to come.
I wanted to follow up on one question that was asked last week,
regarding social networking websites that the community might want to
use. I forgot who asked it, but chances are they are on this mailing
list, so hopefully they'll see this. Yahoo recently launched a social
networking service called Yahoo 360 (360.yahoo.com). It's still in
"beta", but it appears to be actively developed. Given that Yahoo has a
good track record with the mailing list/group service that we're already
using, their social networking service might be a logical option to
consider. Also, Yahoo owns the popular flickr.com photo-sharing site,
and Yahoo-360 has plans to integrate that in with the service. Just a
suggestion.
Cheers,
