Hello, again, from Sangi-Land. It's time for the News at Night.

*Sangi claws her way up and out from an avalanche of things to do,
gasping for air* Oh, hello. It seems I am late-ish again in getting
this newsletter out. That is because I am only one vampire with much
to do and less time to do it in. I think I have spread myself way
too thin and I need to take a step back and evaluate everything and
decide what is most important to me, what goals I have, and what I
want to accomplish, and focus only on those things. It seems that
everybody wants a piece of me and I try to take on what they want in
addition to everything else. I end up stalled, stressed out and
incredibly frustrated because I end up not getting anything done.

I already cannot provide personalized email support for quite some
time, or indeed, even GET TO my emails, -- and yet the emails keep
coming and coming, each one mercilessly marching into my in-box and
demanding my time and attention unique to the emailer's needs or
wants. Since I had somebody come to live with me and help me out
with daily menial tasks so that I could devote more time to That
Which Must Be Done, which included emails, I have ironically had sooo
much less time to do anything because of the roommate's oh-so-
important computer/internet "needs". I'm now over a year behind on
some (most) of the unanswered emails in my
Sanguinarius@... email, with over 1300 in the inbox. In
the time I am able to spend on the computer, if I dealt with emails,
it would ONLY BE emails and nothing else, ever, night in and night
out, and even then, I highly doubt that I would be able to keep up;
this means that everything else would have to be neglected: managing
my IRC channel (chat room); adding articles, information, tips,
advice, etc., to the web page; providing any kind of web-based
support, managing and monitoring the Vampiric Community Message (and
Support) Board; communicating with other elders and figures in the
community about things going on, things in the works, etc.; keeping
people informed of happenings -- ex., this newsletter; processing
sites in the Real Vampire Directory (I already have not been able to
LOOK FOR and manually ADD sites I find, like I used to, for quite
some time -- and I know there are plenty out there which are not
listed!); and the list goes on. None of these things I would be able
to do if I devoted what limited time I have to emails.

And still everybody wants me to do this or that for them, more and
more and more... Well, I can't. I'd need a staff of 6 and a bank of
computers. Then maybe I could get everything done and keep up. And
now I'm trying to start a store on my site?! Am I absolutely crazy?
I think I must be...

Well, enough of this introspective crap. I've got a newsletter to
put out. So, without further ado, here's your copy of this month's

HAPPENINGS IN THE NEWS:

Raymond T. McNally Dies

Raymond T. McNally, aged 71, died of complications resulting from
cancer on 3rd October, 2002, in Newton, Mass, where he was a
resident. McNally was best known for his research and books on Vlad
Dracula (the historical Dracula) along with Radu Florescu, a Romanian
folklorist at Boston College, where they were both professors. Along
with Florescu, he wrote the 1972 book "In Search of Dracula: The
History of Dracula and Vampires"; he also was the author of "A Clutch
of Vampires: Things Being Among the Best Vampire Stories from History
and Literature" and "Dracula Was a Woman" (about Erzebet Bathory, the
16th-century Hungarian countess who tortured and killed many young
women for their blood, which she felt made her look younger), as well
as being the author or co-author of several other books.

Dracula Land Theme Park Not Dead Yet

There is some consideration of locating the proposed Dracula Land
theme park in Bucharest, Romania. Proposals to build it in
Sigishoara, Vlad Dracula's home town, were scrapped after Prince
Charles, apparently having nothing better to do, decided to stir up
an international fuss about building it there, citing environmental
and cultural reasons. Price-Waterhouse-Coopers deems the Romanian
capital city to be the best location, financially speaking. Tops on
the list of possible locations for the theme park were: Bucurest
(capital city), Sigishoara (Vlad Dracula's birthplace), Constanta
(Black Sea port); Bistrita (mentioned in Bram Stoker's _Dracula_)
also being considered. Residents of Sighisoara are not happy about
the decision to locate the park elsewhere.

Eagles Mere Fall Gathering 2002
30 October -- 5 November, 2002

The 4th annual Eagles Mere Fall Gathering will be held October 30th
through November 5th 2002. At the insistence of those who attended
last year we have made this years gathering a full week event.

Eagles Mere, situated high in the beautiful "Endless Mountains" of
northeastern Pennsylvania was developed in the 1800's as a resort for
wealthy Philadelphians. They came to the mountain for the cool clean
air and crystal clear waters of the mile long lake. Eagles Mere
remains much the same as it did years ago when the pace of life was
more peaceful and less stressful.

The Lodge is a three-story log cabin offering rustic comfort for
forty guests and its accommodations include 9 bedrooms, 4 full
bathrooms/2 half baths, a fully equipped kitchen and laundry room.
The Lodge offers a large hot tub that will seat eight comfortably, a
pool table, ping-pong table and television with VCR. All sleeping
arrangements are dormitory style.

There will be open discussions on Meditation, Shielding, Feeding
Techniques and Safety issues. Tarot Card and Runic readings will be
available with "How To" classes being offered on both. Tours of both
the lake and the village are also offered. A Treasure/Scavenger hunt
is planned for early Saturday evening with a Masquerade ball to
follow.

The cost of this year's fall gathering will be $187 per person and
covers your lodging, food and drink for the entire week or however
many day/nights you care to attend. A 10% discount is offered to
those with a BloodLines membership card. The "Deadline" to reserve a
spot is September 25th, 2002. You may send a check or money order Or

The 7th Annual Bizarre Vampire Bazaar
19-20 October, 2002

Gothic Beach Studio, Light Thunder Productions and Al-tern'ati'v-ah
in association with Monolithic Graphics PRESENT The 7th Annual
Bizarre Vampire Bazaar

The "Bizarre Vampire Bazaar" (BVB) is a highly anticipated, annual
Southern California event unlike any other, held in the city of Long
Beach, CA. The ever-entertaining event is a combination of circus,
nightclub, and open-air marketplace. A traditional pre-Halloween
happening; soon in its 7th year. The 2-day extravaganza included a
marketplace consisting of over 35 unique vendors, and a
celebrity "meet-and-greet" booth of actors, musicians & performers
from stage and screen. Along with the usual gothic-fantasy and
Halloween themes, the event also included a "Dia de Los Muertos"
twist (theme to be announced for BVB 2002). The details for BVB 2002
are still being finalized so check back often for updated
information. This is what we know thus far: The event will take place
in late October & may begin at 3 PM and end at 2 AM (dates, times, &
schedules for the 7th Annual Event are TBD). The BVB is attended by
families with children, as well as typical club-goers, tourists, and
folks starting pre-holiday shopping who are looking for that "one-of-
a-kind" gift. Several newspapers, magazines & television outlets
usually provide media coverage -- so look your best! The nightclub
will feature popular local-area Disc jockeys and well-known Gothic-
Industrial, Psychobilly and Synthpop music bands. The "Vamphear
Circus" debuted under the big top, selling out shows last year and we
expect the same results this year. Our "2nd Stage will feature a
surprising array of talent.

Food & refreshments will be available & provided by Naga Bar &
Restaurant -- the location "host" of the event. The locale is a
beautiful waterfront setting with ample free parking in front and a
spacious, comfortably decorated interior in the bar area. Add to the
mix the typically wonderful Southern California weather, complete
with a full moon, and the scene makes for a spectacular
indoor/outdoor event. It's also close to the Queen Mary.

This year the Vampyre's Ball and Dark Bazaar will take place at the
fabulous Gallier Hall on Halloween night. This event will have two
simultaneous vampyre "havens" from each coast combining the Long
Black Veil ( http://www.longblackveil.com ) of New York and the Fang
Club of LA ( http://www.fangclub.com ). Each environment will reflect
the personality, music and gathering of these two infamous events.
DJs including Jack Dean of Fang Club & Xian will spin your dark
classics. Live performances including Belly Dancing by Maiiah,
cabaret acts, music by Saint Eve & Cult of the Psychic Fetus with
more bands and performers possibly being announced throughout October!

The Dark Bazaar will be held during the ball and will include vendors
including Sabretooth, VampPress, Dark Awakenings, the Midnight
