Things have been rather busy lately, with me going out of town for a
week each month for the last two months, and again for a week over the

Dracula theme park to draw tourists to Romania
(TravelViseo.tv press release - Nov 16, 04)

The government of Romania, one of the poorest ex-Communist countries
in Eastern Europe, has approved a plan to build a theme park dedicated
to the fictional vampire, Dracula. It's expected the park will boost
the tourist profile of the Transylvania region which was the source of
inspiration for writer Bram Stoker. His story was first published in

"Echoes of Night" Taken Down by Sarasvati

Sarasvati has taken down "Echoes of Night" [formerly at
http://www.sanguinarius.org/~sarasvati/ and mirrored at
http://sarasvati.fateback.com/ ] for some major rewrites and
renovations. However she is still available to help others through
her message board [ http://disc.server.com/Indices/30003.html ] and by
email [ s_faolchu@... ]. The downtime is expected to be at
least a year. Sarasvati writes, "'Echoes of Night' is not gone for
good; however I cannot say when it will be back yet either. As with
any journey where the end is not known, the time it takes to get there
isn't known either."

"Echoes of Night" was formerly known as "Sarasvati's Sanguinarian
Support & Information Page", and was a major and excellent real
vampire site, though perhaps not as well-known as some.

In the interest of preserving information for the community while
"Echoes of Night" is down, SphynxCat has been given permission by
Sarasvati to archive many articles from "Echoes of Night" on her site,

Gathering Planned for Summer 2005

Everyone listen up. Keep this summer open for vacations. Bloodlines &
Gothstock will be holding a national gathering sometime this summer at
Gothstock. For those who don't know about Gothstock, check out
http://www.gothstock.com/ and keep checking back -- it is organizing
as we speak: A weekend of goth bands playing for a free concert. We
are currently in talks to get the original venue where Woodstock was
held; if so, we will have a whole weekend of bands planned. We are
searching for sponsors, so if anyone has any ideas we have not yet

news of such ongoing or periodic events is repetitive and bulky,
especially when it's the same information, month after month (which
I'm really sure you want to read through again and again). In the

The Abandoned Playground community administrator has recently unveiled
a new internet radio station, Alliance Radio, at
http://allianceradio.com/ . The station plays a heavy metal webcast,
is on the air 24/7, and has connections for both high and low
bandwidth. Check their website for show schedules.

Alliance Radio is looking for new DJs. Want to join the team and kick

Now in its' second year, The Abandoned Playground (

community where Otherkin, Nonkin, and generally dark persons can
congregate and be welcomed. It has 183 registered members so far with
a variety of creatively named forums including a number for otherkin,

What: A Meet 'n' Greet Social Event

When: The 2nd Friday of each month, from 7 pm 'til 9

Who: All members of Vampires-AMOK, ShadowLore of Kansas, and any
vampires, donors, otherkin, weres / therians, witches, fae and others
who are interested are invited to drop by.

Sanguinarius has a new color scheme! I did away with the burgundy and
black with cream colored text because some people felt it was hard to
read under certain circumstances, such as color blindness or dimmed
monitors. What I replaced it with is a blue scheme. It's not really
Gothic, but it is rather nice and much easier for some people to read.

hope he does soon, because I paid him $60.00 already. I may have to
settle on some other (php) script that I can afford and use on my
server. *sigh* I don't think he's going to get back to me. If I
redo my site using PostNuke or similar, then it should have a
directory module built in and this problem would take care of itself
(well, except for adding in all the links and information, that is --
I'd have to do that, myself); I like Gossamer Threads' Links 2.0,
though, dammit, but I can't use it the way my current server is
structured.

I bought this book years ago for my vampire collection, and read
through it for the sheer pleasure of it, and I loved it. It
entertains while giving you the lowdown on English grammar usage.
It's full of imaginative and bizarre examples that will not bore you
and contains many weird and fantastical Victorian and Mediaeval
woodcut-style illustrations. It's so entertaining, you may forget
it's got a practical use! I was delightfully addicted from cover to
cover.
