Allah's Love is Attained by Following the Messenger

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Surah 3 : Ale Imraan :

(31. Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me (i.e. Muhammad), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'') (32. Say: "Obey Allah and the Messenger.'' But if they turn away, then Allah does not like the disbelievers.)

This honorable Ayah judges against those who claim to love Allah, yet do not follow the way of Muhammad . Such people are not true in their claim until they follow the Shari`ah (Law) of Muhammad and his religion in all his statements, actions and conditions. It is recorded in the Sahih that the Messenger of Allah said,

(Whoever commits an act that does not conform with our matter (religion), then it will be rejected of him.)

This is why Allah said here,

(Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you...'') meaning, what you will earn is much more than what you sought in loving Him, for Allah will love you. Al-Hasan Al-Basri and several scholars among the Salaf commented, "Some people claimed that they love Allah. So Allah tested them with this Ayah;

(Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you...''). ''

Allah then said,

("And forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'') meaning, by your following the Messenger , you will earn all this with the blessing of his mission. Allah next commands everyone,

(Say: "Obey Allah and the Messenger.'' But if they turn away) by defying the Prophet ,

(then Allah does not like the disbelievers.) thus, testifying that defiance of the Messenger's way constitutes Kufr. Indeed, Allah does not like whoever does this, even if he claims that he loves Allah and seeks a means of approach to Him, unless, and until, he follows the unlettered Prophet, the Final Messenger from Allah to the two creations: mankind and the Jinn. This is the Prophet who, if the previous Prophets and mighty Messengers were to have been alive during his time, they would have no choice but to follow, obey him, and to abide by his Law.

Cure For Self Amazement

Imam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) states in Al Fawaa-id that Ibn Sad (rahimahullaah) mentions in At Tabaqaat about Umar Bin Abdul Azeez (rahimahullaah) that:

Whenever he delivered a khutbah on the mimbar, and feared being amazed by himself; he would terminate it (i.e. the khutbah)

And whenever he wrote a letter and feared amazement by way of it; he would tear it.

And he would say: ''O Allaah! I seek refuge in you from the evil of my nafs.''

The Arkaan (Pillars) of Gratitude

Source:  Fataawa Sadiyyah page:61

Pertaining to what Al Baaree [The Originator (Allah-subhaanah] mentioned with regards to His Favours conferred upon the slaves, of the facilitation of the means of transport (through riding beasts and ships):

''In order that you may mount on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: ''Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts).  And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return!'' (43:13-14)

Mentioned (in the above) are the three pillars of gratitude, and they are:

1.Acknowledgement

2.Proclamation of the Blessings of Allah, Speaking about it, and Praising Allah with regards to that.

3.Submission to Allah, and seeking aid by way of that in actualizing the worship of Allah.

That is because the intent behind the statement of Allah, ''And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return'', is acknowledgement of recompense and being prepared for that.  The objective of these favours is that they are an aid by which the slave (seeks) to fulfil that which Allah has designated for him (with regards to acts of worship and obedience Him)

And concerning Allaah's saying: ''And then may remember the favour of your Lord when you mount thereoný'', this is a specific mention of these (favours) in this state, (at the time in which these favours are being conferred upon the slave). That is because blessings intoxicates many amongst the creation and makes them more heedless of Allah.  It imposes upon them more evil and thanklessness.  Therefore, this state which Allah commanded (i.e. the state in which the slave remembers Allah for His Favours), is medication for this destructive ailment.

When the slave remembers that he is covered by the blessings of Allah and that nothing is from himself), rather blessings have an origin (i.e. all blessings are from Allah), and that its means are facilitated and its obtainment made easy, and that it remains and continues (and) that which opposes it is repelled, and that all of this is from Allaah; so when the slave recalls this (in his mind and heart), he submits to Allah, humbles himself and thanks and Praises Him.  And through that the slave is given continuous blessings.  Allaah blesses him in this, so that it becomes true blessings.

Ruling Regarding Standing for National Anthems or Flags

Ruling Regarding Standing for National Anthems or Flags

Question:
Is it permissible to stand up out of respect for any national anthem, or any national flag?

Answer:

It is not permissible for the Muslim to stand up for any national anthem, nor any national flag out of respect. Rather, this is from the evil innovations which did not exist at the time of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), nor at the time of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (radiyallaahu 'anhum). And this action negates the obligation of the completeness of Tawheed, and the purity of respect for Allaah alone, and it invites towards Shirk. And in this action is resemblance of the disbelievers, and blind following of them in their despicable customs, and deviating along with them in their extreme attitude towards their leaders and their ceremonies. Indeed the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) prohibited resembling them and emulating them. And the success is with Allaah. And may the Prayers and Peace be upon Muhammad and his Family and his Companions.

The Connection of the Soul to the Body

A short essay on the souls connection to the body, in this life and in the Hereafter.

The soul (ar-rooh) is connected to the body in five different ways, to which different rules apply.

  1. Its connection to the body as a fetus in his mother’s womb.
  2. Its connection to the body after a person is born.
  3. Its connection to the body when a person is asleep, when the soul is connected in one way and  separated from it in another way.
  4. Its connection to the body in al-Barzakh (the period between a person’s death and the Day of Resurrection), when it has departed from the body and separated from it, but is not separated completely in such a way that there is no connection at all. We have mentioned at the beginning of this reply that there are ahaadeeth and reports which indicate that the soul is returned to the body when somebody sends the greeting of salaam to a deceased person. This returning is of a special nature which does not mean that the life is restored to the body before the Day of Resurrection.
  5. Its connection to the body on the Day when bodies will be resurrected. This is the most perfect type of connection to the body, and has no comparison to the previous types, because after that the body will never die, sleep or have anything wrong with it. When a person is asleep, his soul is in his body and he is alive, although his being alive is not the same as that of a person who is awake, for sleep is comparable to death. Similarly, when a dead person’s soul is returned to his body (when the greeting is sent upon him), he is in a state between one who is alive and one who is dead, whose soul is not restored to his body. This is like the case of a sleeping person who is in a state between life and death. We hope that this will dispel a lot of your confusion.

Joking with lies

Question: Is there a difference between intentionally lying and jokingly lying? And is it permissible for a person to lie jokingly?

Response: No, it is not permissible.

Question: (So) all of it is judged (regarded) the same?

Response: Yes, (it is) haraam. The Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) only spoke the truth.

42- 146 - On the authority of Abdullaah bin ‘Amr who said: Someone asked : O Messenger of Allaah! Who are the best of the people?’ He answered: ‘Everyone who has a mahkmoom heart and a truthful tongue.’

They asked: ‘We know what a truthful tongue is, but what is a mahkmoom heart?’
He said: ‘A pious, pure one, which has no sin in it nor is it oppressive, nor does it have hatred and jealousy.’

The Obligation of Seeking Refuge from Four Things Before the Dua’ in Tashahud

Taken from the ‘Original Sifat as-Salah

By Shaykh Muhadith Nasir as-Sunnah ,Muhammad Nasir- Deen Al-Albaani

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

‘The Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- used to say: ‘If one of you finishes from the [last] (1) Tashahud; then he should seek refuge (2) with Allaah from four things; [he says: ‘O Allaah I seek refuge with You] from the punishment of the Hell-Fire, and from the punishment of the grave, and from the Fitna of life and death, and from the evil of the Fitna (trials) of the Maseeh ad-Dajjal.’ [then he makes Dua’ for himself with that which appears apparent to him (3)] [He -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- would make Dua’ with it in Tashahud] (4) [He -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- used to teach it to his Companions -Radi Allaahu anhum- just as he would teach them a Soorah from the Qur’aan.](5)

_________________

Shaykh Albani’s footnotes:

(1) The benefit of this extra wording is the legislation of this ‘seeking refuge’ in the last Tashahud rather than the first Tashahud; this is in contrast to what Ibn Hazm said in ‘al-Muhalla’ (3/271) and Ibn Daqeeq al-Eid followed him in this, whereby he said: ‘The chosen way is to make Dua’ in the first Tashahud, like making Dua’ in the last Tashahud, due to the general authentic hadeeth:

‘If one of you makes Tashahud; then he should seek refuge with Allaah from …’

Al-Hafidh said in ‘al-Talkhees’ (3/507):

‘And he commented that it is in ‘as-Saheeh’ (al-Bukhari) from Abu Huriara with the wording:

‘If one of you finishes from the last Tashahud; then he should seek refuge with Allaah from …’

Ibn al-Qayyim said in ‘Za’ad’:

‘The Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- did not seek refuge in the first Tashahud – from the punishment of the grave and punishment of the Fire …. Etc.

Whoever recommended saying it, (in the last Tashahud) had understood this standing from the general texts, but the absolute texts indeed correctly clarified its position, and restricted it to the last Tashahud.’

Then al-Hafidh said in ‘al-Fath’ (2/253) after bringing the hadeeth:

‘So in this hadeeth this ‘seeking refuge’ is specified to after finishing the Tashahud; and this Dua’ precedes all other Duas. As for when the person praying is given the permission to choose which Dua’ he wants to supplicate with, then this is after the ‘seeking refuge’ and before giving the Salams.’

I say (Albani): ‘And the extra wording is at the end of the hadeeth – ‘then he makes Dua’ for him-self with what he wants.’ And this is a text to show that seeking refuge is in the second Tashahud.’

(2) This shows clearly that seeking refuge is obligatory and some of the Ahl-ul-Dhahir hold this opinion – and from them is Ibn Hazm (3/271)).

Al-Hafidh said (2/256):

‘Some of the people claimed that there is a consensus that it is not obligatory, however there is a problem with this; because AbdurRazaq narrated with an authentic Isnaad from Tawwoos, indicating that he holds the ‘seeking refuge’ to be obligatory. This was when he asked his son; if he had said it after the Tashahud?

And his son replied: No.

Tawwoos ordered him to repeat the prayer.’

I say (Albani): Indeed Muslim narrated this in his ‘Saheeh’ (2/94) as it came from Tawwoos.

Al-Hafidh said:

‘Ibn Hazm was over generalizing when he said that you should also say it in the first Tashahud.

Ibn al-Mundhir said: if it was not for the hadeeth of Ibn Mas’ood whereby he narrated that: ‘then the person has a choice of what to make Dua’ with’ then I would have said it was obligatory.’

I say (Albani): This choice of making Dua’ excludes ‘seeking refuge from these four things’, so due to the evidence this choice of making Dua’ becomes restricted, to be said after finishing ‘seeking refuge from these four things’  – has as preceded – ; so the truth is that it is obligatory, and Allaah knows best.

(3) From the hadeeth of Abu Huraira -Radi Allaahu anhu- collected by Muslim, Abu ‘Awaanah, Ibn Majah and Ahmad.

(4) From the hadeeth of Abdullaah bin Abbas -Radi Allaahu anhu- collected by Abu Dawood and this sanad is Hasan, its narrators are all narrators of Muslim.

(5) From the hadeeth of Abdullaah bin Abbas -Radi Allaahu anhu- collected by Malik and Muslim, and from him Abu Dawood, Nisae’ and Tirmidhi.

Begin with Yourself

Transcribed from: Gems and Jewels | Compiled by: Abdul-Malik Mujahid | DarusSalam

A man went to Ibn ‘Abbas radiAllaahu ‘anhu and said, “O Ibn ‘Abbas, I want to enjoin people to do good and forbid them from doing evil.” Ibn ‘Abbas said, “And have you reached that level?” He said, “I hope that that is so.” He said, “If you do not fear to be exposed by three verses of Allah’s Book, then do so.” The man asked, “And what are they?” He mentioned this verse:

Enjoin you Al-Birr (piety and righteousness and each and every act of obedience to Allâh) on the people and you forget (to practise it) yourselves.” (Baqarah 2:44)

And then asked, “Have you applied the implications of this verse?” He said, “No.” Ibn ‘Abbas then mentioned the second verse:

O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do? Most hateful it is with Allâh that you say that which you do not do. (As-Saff 61:2-3)

After that he asked, “Have you applied the implications of this verse?” He said, “No.” He then mentioned the third verse regarding Shu’aib alayhi salaam:

“I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I forbid you.” (Hud 11:88)

And then he asked, “Have you applied the implications of this verse? He said, “No.” Ibn ‘Abbas said, “Then begin with yourself.”

AbdurRahman.org@...

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah , Amma ba'd

Fasting the first Nine Days of Dhul-Hijjah is a Sunnah

Hunaydah ibn Khaalid narrated upon the authority of his wife who said, "Some of the wives of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) told me that the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) used to fast the Day of 'Aashoorah, the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, and three days out of every month*." (Imam Ahmad, An-Nasaaee)

*- 13th, 14th, and 15th every month

Commentary: Imam An-Nawwawee (rahimahullaah) said with reference to fasting the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah,
quote:   "It is extremely preferable to do so."

Fatwah from Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen about fasting first Nine Days of Dhul-Hijjah

A questioner asked Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) the following question:

Question: Oh Shaikh, are there any authentic ahadith that mention fasting the first [nine] days of Dhul-Hijjah?

Answer by Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen:

quote:

"Fasting the first [nine] of Dhul-Hijjah is from the righteous actions without doubt.

And the Prophet salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said, "There are not any days in which righteous actions are done that are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days." They said, "Oh Messenger of Allaah, not even jihad in Allaah's cause?" He said, "Not even jihad in Allaah's cause, except for a man who left out with his self and his wealth, and he did not return with either."

So fasting is included in the general context of this hadith. And there appears a hadith stating that the Messenger of Allaah salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam used to fast the first ten of Dhul Hijjah, not counting the 'Eid [in other words, the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah].

And Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal rahimahullaah takes this position and it is authentic. Fasting in the first ten [of Dhul-Hijjah, excluding the 'Eid] is sunnah. Yes."

Hajj Contemplations

Transcribed from: Hajj & Tawheed | Dr. Saleh as-Saleh rahimahullaah

CirclingKabah

1. This is a journey that was taken by Prophets and Messengers before you. Those who take the path of the Prophets magnify the tawheed of Allah and His House. There are those, however, who come to perform hajj and their hearts are attached to other than Allaah. They invoke the dead and the righteous, whether present or absent. This is the opposite of tawheed, it is shirk no matter what they call it because it is setting up rivals besides Allaah. So, free your intention from any kind of devotion to other than Allaah. Repent and come with a sincere heart submitting to Allaah remembering what Ibraheem and his son Ismaa’eel said when they were raising the foundations of Allah’s House, the ka’bah:

2-128

“Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage – Hajj and ‘Umrah, etc.), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.”

(Baqarah 2:128)

2. You are set to depart and you may or may not return to your home. Make this journey to Allaah’s House as Allaah wants it. Think of the next journey that is surely coming, the one that leads to the meeting of Allaah, Most High. This raises questions like: What did I prepare for that Day? Am I following Allaah’s Commands? Am I a follower of the sunnah of Muhammad salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam? Do I really know of Allaah? Am I a believer that Allaah is above the seven heavens over his ‘arsh as He has stated in His Book and as His Messengers have asserted? Am I a believer that believes Allah has a true Face that suits His Majesty as He has affirmed in the Qur’aan and as has been affirmed by His Prophet Muhammad salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam? Am I a believer in all of Allaah’s Names, Attributes and Actions which He has affirmed in His Book and by His Messengers? Or do I just take and accept by my doubt, rejecting, or distorting the meanings of Allaah’s Attributes and Actions?

28-88

And invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Everything will perish save His Face. His is the Decision, and to Him you (all) shall be returned.

(Al-Qasas 28:88)

3. Know, may Allaah’s Mercy be upon you, that when you reach the meeqaat there is another meeqaat that is still to come. It is the meeqaat (appointed meeting) on the Day of Ressurection:

56-49

56-50

Say (O Muhammad salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasalaam): “(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day.

(Al-Waqi’ah 56:49-50)

4. When you start the talbiyah remember the Command of Allaah ‘azza wa jall to the Prophet Ibraaheem ‘alayhi salaam:

22-27And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj).

(Al-Hajj 22:27)

The talbiyah you make is in response to the Prophet Ibraaheem’s proclamation to visit Allaah’s house of worship. Allaah is Most Great.

5. Upon entering Makkah remember that you are in the Secure Sanctuary:

Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary (Makkah), to which are brought fruits of all kinds, a provision from Ourselves, but most of them know not.

(Al-Qasas 28:57)

Let one commit himself to repentance, having a good opinion of Allaah, hoping that Allaah will grant him security from His Punishment.

6. You will enter one of the gates of al-Masjid al-Haraam. Then there you are before the magnificent House of Allaah, Most High, the ka’bah. Now you see what you hoped to see for a long time. Thank Allaah subhanahu wa ta’ala for making this possible and hope that He ‘azza wa jall will grant you the greatest reward of seeing His Majestic Face on the Day of Resurrection. This thankfulness is not just in saying “alhamdu-lillaah,” but also by obeying Allaah while on hajj and for the rest of your life.

7. You start your tawaaf knowing that it is a great time for magnifying Allaah the Exalted. Remember Him ‘azza wa jall by His Names, Attributes and Actions. Also while in tawaaf try to reflect upon the time when Prophet Muhammad salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam was prevented from doing the same thing you are doing today. Then think about what he did in clearing out the site from the symbols signifying worship to other than Allaah! All idols were demolished. Busy yourself with du’aa. Ask Allaah, the Most Great, to make you hold to the correct belief and Path of the salaf and make you die on it. Ask Allaah to save you from all forms of shirk and bid’ah.

Conditions for the Acceptance of Actions

Source : Six Conditions of Ibaadah , By Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-`Uthaymeen

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (d.1421H) - rahimahullaah - said, “Sincerity (ikhlaas) towards Allaah means that the person desires by his worship closeness to Allaah the Exalted and reaching His Abode of Nobility (i.e. Paradise), such that the servant must be sincere towards Allaah the Exalted in his intended purpose. He must be sincere towards Allaah the Exalted in his love. He must be sincere towards Allaah in his exaltation. He must be sincere to Allaah the Exalted outwardly and inwardly. He does not seek anything with his worship, except for the Face of Allaah the Exalted and reaching His Abode of Nobility.” [1]

Stated al-’Allaamah Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-’Uthaymeen (d.1421H) – rahimahullaah, “And in order that it will be known – O brothers – that al-mutaaba’ah cannot be actualized, except when the action is in agreement with the Sharee’ah in six affairs:

The First: as-Sabab (reason, motive); So when the person worships Allaah with act of worship that is accompanied by a motive that is not legislated by the Sharee’ah, then it is an innovation that is rejected back to its doer. An example of that is when some of the people commemorate the twenty-seventh night of Rajab under the pretence that it was the night in which the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) ascended. So tahajjud (the night Prayer) is worship. However, when it is accompanied with this motive, it becomes an innovation. This is because this action of worship is built upon a motive that has not been confirmed in the Sharee’ah. And this description – the conformity of the worship to the Sharee’ah in motive – is an important affair that clarifies many innovations from amongst those that are thought to be from the Sunnah, yet they are not from the Sunnah.

The Second: al-Jins (type); so it is inevitable that the act of worship be in conformity to the Sharee’ah in its jins (type). So if the person worships with an act of worship whose type is not legislated, then it is not accepted. An example of that is if a man were to slaughter a horse, then this sacrifice would not be correct, because it has opposed the Sharee’ah in the type. So the blood sacrifices cannot be done, except with cattle, grazing livestock, camels, cows and sheep.

The Third: al-Qadr (quantity); so if the person increases in the Prayer that is obligatory, then we say that this is an innovation that is not accepted, because it opposes the Sharee’ah in quantity. With all the more reason, if the person prays the noon Prayer for example as five units, then his Prayer is not correct by agreement.

The Fourth: al-Kayfiyyah (manner, mode); so if a man performs ablution, and he begins with washing the feet, then he wipes his head, then he washes his hands, then his face, then we say that his ablution is null and void, because it opposes the Sharee’ah in manner.

The Fifth: az-Zamaan (time); so if the person slaughters in the first days of Dhul-Hijjah, then his blood sacrifice will not be accepted due it opposing the Sharee’ah in time. And I have heard that some of the people slaughter sheep during the month of Ramadaan in order to draw closer to Allaah with blood sacrifice. So this action in this manner is an innovation, because there is nothing with regards to drawing closer to Allaah with slaughtering, except for blood sacrifice, gifts and the ’aqeeqah. As for slaughtering in Ramadaan along with the belief that one will attain the reward of slaughtering, such as the blood sacrifice in ’Eedul-Adhaa, or slaughtering for the sake of meat, then this is permissible.

The Sixth: al-Makaan (place); so if a man performs i’tikaaf in other than a mosque, then his i’tikaaf is not correct. And that is because the i’tikaaf cannot occur, except in the mosques. And if a woman says, ‘I wish to perform i’tikaaf in the musallaa (place of Prayer) in the house,’ then her i’tikaaf is not correct due to opposition of the Sharee’ah in place. And from the examples of that is if a man desires to perform tawaaf. So he finds that the area of tawaaf has become too confined and he finds that whatever is around it has become too confined. So he starts to perform tawaaf from behind the mosque, then his tawaaf will not be correct, because the place of the tawaaf is the house.

So the act of worship cannot be considered a righteous action, except if two conditions are fulfilled with regards to it, the first is al-ikhlaas (sincerity) and the second is al-mutaaba’ah (following the Prophet). And al-mutaaba’ah cannot be fulfilled, except with the six affairs that have been previously mentioned.” [2]

The Virtues of the First 10 days of Dhul Hijjah
by Shaykh Sa`d ash-Shitree حفظه الله
Albaseerah News letter Issue # 2 of Vol. 1

From the most virtuous of days are the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah (the 12th month in the lunar calendar, one of the sacred months and the month of Hajj). A group of those from the People of Knowledge say: “Verily they are the best days of the year just as the last ten nights of Ramadaan are the best nights of the year.” Some of the various types of righteous actions which are done in these first ten days are mentioned below:

REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAAH

The first of the righteous actions is the remembrance of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى. Allaah سبحانه وتعالى said: {…and the men and the women who remember Allaah much with their hearts and tongues - Allaah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).} [al-Ahzaab 33:35]

It is affirmed in a number of texts the encouragement of mentioning the takbeer. Allaah سبحانه وتعالى said: {…and mention the Name of Allaah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah)} [al-Hajj 22:28]

It has been affirmed from the Sahaabah (Companions) of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and from him صلى الله عليه وسلم , that they increased in the takbeer (saying “Allaahu Akbar—Allaah is the Greatest) in the first ten days of the month of Dhul Hijjah and they raised their voice with it, each one of them saying the takbeer on his own. They raised their voices until the mountains shook from their takbeer but they did not say the takbeer in unison (in Jamaa’ah). Each of them said the takbeer on his own.

VOLUNTARY ACTS OF WORSHIP

One should implement the voluntary acts of worship - whether prayer, fasting or charity. It is reported in hadeeth that the Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم encouraged fasting the ten days and it is reported that he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Whoever fasts the Day of Arafah will have his sins expiated for two years (the past year and the coming year).” [Ibn Maajah]

DO NOT CUT HAIR OR NAILS FOR THE ONE DOING THE SACRIFICE

From what is considered as righteous actions on these ten days is that the one who wants to do the Udhiyyah (sacrificial slaughter) should not cut his hair or nails during these ten days. As such it is desired that he commits himself before these ten days by cutting his hair and nails. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “When any one of you intending to sacrifice the animal enters in the month (of Dhul-Hijjah) he should not get his hair or nails touched (cut)”. [Muslim]

SUPPLICATE FOR THE HUJJAAJ

One should make du`aa (supplication) for the hujjaaj (pilgrims who have embarked upon the Hajj) that Allaah سبحانه وتعالى keeps them safe from all evil and that He returns them to their countries. This is because the hujjaaj are the guests of Ar-Rahmaan so they have a right upon us that we supplicate for them for ease in their affairs and their safe return.

UDHIYYAH - SACRIFICIAL SLAUGHTER

One should prepare to do the Udhiyyah (sacrificial slaughtering of an animal) and arranging distribution of the meat amongst family, friends, the needy etc. This is from the pious and righteous deeds. Abu Haneefah رحمه الله was of the opinion that it was from the obligatory acts but most of others say that it is desirable. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said “Who does not slaughter should not come to the salaah”. [Ibn Maajah]

ATTEND THE `EED SALAAH

From amongst the righteous actions is attending the salaatul `Eed, greeting one another, and leaving off fasting on the day of `Eed and on the days of Tashreeq (i.e. the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah).

Based on a lectured by Shaykh Sa`d ash-Shitree (may Allaah preserve him).

Q: What is the ruling on a person who wants to offer an Ud-hiyah (sacrificial animal) or deputize someone to sacrifice it on his behalf, should he abide by the acts that are forbidden for pilgrims during the first ten days of Dhul-Hajjah? What is the ruling if I intend to offer a sacrifice and my father or another person assuming Ihram offers it on my behalf, is it permissible for me not to abide by the acts forbidden for pilgrims during the first ten days of Dhul-Hajjah?

A: A person who intends to offer Ud-hiyah should not get his hair or skin hair cut or his nails trimmed after the first day of Dhul-Hijjah until he offers his Ud-hiyah. It has been narrated by the Six Hadith Compilers (Muslim, Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhy, Al-Nasa'y, and Ibn Majah) except for Al-Bukhari (may Allah be Merciful with them)on the authority of Um Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, If anyone has in his possession a sacrificial animal to offer as a sacrifice (on `Eid-ul-Adha), he should not get his hair cut and nails trimmed after he has entered the first days of Dhul-Hijjah. and the wording of the narration of Abu Dawud, Muslim and Al-Nasa'y is: Anyone who has a sacrificial animal meant to be offered as sacrifice, and he enters the month of Dhul-Hijjah should not get his hair cut or nails trimmed until he has sacrificed the animal.

This rule applies whether he slaughters it himself or authorizes someone else to slaughter it for him. As for those who will authorize someone to slaughter on their behalf, they should not abide by the acts forbidden for pilgrims during the first ten days of Dhul-Hajjah because there is no reported text in this regard. This is not Ihram, for the Muhrim is the one who intends to perform Hajj or `Umrah.

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions!

Hajj Contemplations | Part II

You can read the first part here

8. While in sa’yi, contemplate on Haajar, the mother of Ismaa’eel, when she asked her husband Ibraaheem ‘alayhi salaam: “Did Allah order you to do this (leaving her and her baby Ismaa’eel in Makkah)? He said: “Yes.” Her great response was: “Then He (Allaah) will not neglect us!” Think about this great dependence upon Allaah when you are in the sa’yi walking the same path which Haajar took in search for water and for means of life around the mounts of Safa and Marwah. Think about her endurance, perseverance and trust in Allaah. The sa’yi exemplifies the strong belief that we are in need of One Who Sustains and Provides – Allaah, the Exalted.

Think about Ibraaheem’s invocation on his way homeward to Palestine:

14-37

O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka’bah at Makkah); in order, O our Lord, that they may perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), so fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.

(Ibrahim 14:37)

Men and fruits came to Makkah from many places. Ibraaheem ‘alayhi salaam returned to visit and later to share with his son Ismaa’eel the noble task of raising the foundations of the ka’bah.

9. The standing on ‘Arafaat is the hajj. The crowds should remind you of the Day of Resurrection. Humble yourself to Allaah, manifest your ‘uboodiyyah to Him Alone through du’aa, sincere intention and strong determination to free yourself from the sins of the past and to build up a commitment to rush for doing what is good. Think of becoming a better person when you return. Rid yourself of false pride and showing off because it may ruin what you gain on this day.

10. You gathered the pebbles and you are about to embark on stoning the jamaraat. This is an act of obedience and remembrance of Allaah, Most Magnificent. The Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said: “When you cast the small pebbles (i.e. at the jamaraat), it will be a light for you on the Day of Resurrection.” (1)

11. When performing the sacrifice remember the saying oh Allaah, the Most High:

22-37

It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.

(Al-Hajj 22:37)

12. When you have completed your hajj, do not think that the remembrance of Allaah has ended. Listen to what Allah ‘azza wa jall says:

2-200

So when you have accomplished your Manasik [i.e. the rites of hajj] remember Allah as you remember your forefathers or with a far more remembrance.

(Al-Baqarah 2:200)

Special note: If you go to Madeenah then the objective of your visit should be according to the sunnah and not bid’ah. Your intention is to set on a journey to visit the Prophet’s mosque and not his grave. When you reach the mosque and you pray upon entering then you may go to the grave and say, “Assalamu ‘alayka ayyuhan-nabiyy.” (2) The same salaam is also mentioned when you pass by Abu Bakr and ‘Umar without innovations like:

a. Visiting the grave of the Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam before praying in the mosque.

b. Making du’aa facing the grave.

c. Seeking nearness to Allaah by means of the Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam. This is a prohibited form of tawassul.

d. Seeking intercession from the Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam.

e. Placing the hands upon the grills around the room containing the Prophet’s grave to seek blessings, etc. (3)

Remember the Prophet’s salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam sayings:

“Do not make my grave an ‘eed (place of celebration)…” (4)

“May Allaah’s curse be on the Jews and Christians for taking the graves of their Prophets as places of worship.” (5)

“Those before you took the graves of their Prophets as places of worship. Do not take graves as places of worship for verily I forbid you to do so.” (6)

13. The journey is not meant to gain any material reward. It is a selfless sacrifice solely for Allaah, Most Majestic. It demands true love and fear of Him. It should be performed with full consciousness of one’s heart, with full humility and submission to Allaah. It should not be thought of as a tourist-type excursion or be performed as mere physical rites. It develops sincerity, piety, humility, self-control, sacrifice, and true knowledge of the meaning of submission and obedience to Allaah, Most High. It helps the pilgrim to be a better person who is devoted to Allaah in every aspect of his life.

Footnotes:

(1) Reported by Al-Bazzaar in his Zawaa’id (p. 113) on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas. Al-Haafith Ibn Hajar reported that its isnaad is hasan. This hadeeth is reported by Shaykh Al-Albaani in his Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah, V.6, hedeeth #2515

(2) The position of the scholars regarding visiting the gravesites by women can be summarized as follows:

(a) Disliked but not unlawful, (b) Allowable, if done infrequently. If a woman is known as being unable to behave herself within the limits of sharee’ah at a gravesite, then she should be prevented from visiting the graves, (c) Forbidden, and (d) A grave sin

Many scholars state that women visiting the Prophet’s mosque may pronounce the salaam upon the Prophet salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallam wherever the person may be. The Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam is in a state of barzakh (a state of existence that begins with death and lasts until the Day of Resurrection), the nature of which is only known to Allaah, Most High. What to do when `Eed coincides with Friday - 1

Question: ...he gave a fatwa that the Jumu'ah and Zuhr prayer are "dropped" (not obligatory) if one attended the `Eed prayer whether it is the imaam or (any of) the congregation,...

Response: If the `Eed coincides with Friday, then attendance to the Jumu'ah prayer for anyone who attended the `Eed prayer is "dropped" (not obligatory) except for the imaam. For certainly he is not relieved of this obligation except if the people do not gather for the Jumu'ah (prayer).

And with Allaah lies all the success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

What to do when `Eed coincides with Friday - 2

Question: If any of the two `Eeds fall on a Friday (Jumu'ah), do you pray the Jumu'ah (prayer) with its khutbah on that day or not?

Response: That which is legislated for the Muslims if the `Eed coincides with Friday is to pray the `Eed prayer and the Jumu'ah prayer in the masaajid (plural of masjid) where the Jumu'ah prayer is (normally) held. And it is permissible for one who attended the `Eed prayer to leave off the Jumu'ah and instead perform the Zuhr prayer.

An Etiquette on Jumu’ah  Some People Neglect

Ibn’Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,” If one of you yawns on Friday (while the Imam is giving the sermon), let him change from the place he’s sitting to another.”

Collected by Abu Dawud (1119) ,At-Tirmithi (526) and Ibn Khuyamah (1819)  Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him)graded this hadeeth as being Saheeh .

Benefits for this topic:

  • Ibn Khuzaymah titled a chapter in his Saheeh : (  The Recommendation for the drowsy person to change his place on Friday )

  • The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) didn’t intend the entire day in this hadeeth. What he meant was that if you are in the masjid waiting for the Jumu’ah prayer or during the Khutbah. However this action occurs more during the sermon.

  • The wisdom in changing the sitting place is that moving removes sleepiness. There is also a possibility that the wisdom for this action is moving from the place where he suffered inattention due to his dozing to another. If he dozes off while sitting then there is no harm for him in that action. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) who dozed off while waiting for Fajr in the valley to move.

  • The person waiting for the prayer is in prayer. Yawning while praying is from Shaytaan. And maybe the command for moving is the elimination of  Shaytaan’s relationship to the person sitting down negligent about Allah in the masjid, or the person listening to the Khutbah or  the person being involved in anything fruitful {  Taken from ‘Awnun Ma’bud Sharhus Sunnan Abu Dawud}

The Difference between envy and jealousy
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

A question that was asked to Ash Shaykh Saalih al Fouzaan may Allah preserve him:

Question: May Allah be good to you, what is the ruling on envy if it arises from a person? And what is the difference between it and jealousy?

Answer: Envy is a despicable characteristic, a blameworthy characteristic and our messenger sallahu 'alayhi wasallam said: and do not envy one another*.

If a person finds within himself something for his brother, envy is to wish for the favor to be removed, this is the accurate meaning of it, to wish for the favor to be removed from the one being envied.

So if a person finds something from that within himself then let him seek refuge with Allah from it and he should supplicate for blessings for his brother/sister and ask Allah from his bounty the likes of what he has given your brother to give it to you as Allah says:

(And do not wish for the things in which Allah has made some of you excel others. For men there is a reward for what they have earned (and likewise) for women there is a reward for what they have earned, and ask Allah of his bounty. Surely, Allah is Ever All Knower of everything.4:32)

So envy is a wicked attribute and the envier he doesn't harm anyone except himself, the envier he only harms himself and envy it only destroys the one who possesses it. It is upon the one who finds this characteristic within his/herself to seek refuge with Allah from the evil of envy, to supplicate for his brothers for blessings and to ask Allah from his bounty for himself.

As for jealousy, then it doesn't have any evny in it at all. Jealousy is for a person to wish to have the like, to have the same as the one who has this favor whether it be from worship or knowledge or an abundance of wealth, so he asks Allah or he wishes to be like this individual who Allah has favored.

This is something admirable and is not blameworthy. That which is blameworthy is to wish for the favor to be stripped away from your brother/sister, as for you hoping to be given the like of what your brother has been given and you ask Allah for that then this is something honorable and this is jealousy. The messenger sallahu 'alayhi wasallam said: There is no envy except in two instances meaning no jealousy except in two instances, a man Allah has given knowledge, Allah has given him the quran so he stands with it at night and in the daytime and in another wording Allah has given him wisdom so he teaches it and judges between the people by it. And a man Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the way of Allah**.

So whoever wishes to be like these then this is jealousy and it is a honorable thing and it isn't from envy, na'am.

The Missed Witr prayer the Next Day is Even Numbered

By Ash—Shaykh Abdul Aziz bin Baz (may Allah rest him Firdous)

Question: How does a person make up the Witr prayer the next day if he oversleeps? It has been narrated to us that some scholars say it can be made up. May Allah reward you.

Answer: It’s a sunnah to make up the Witr prayer if missed. Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) missed Witr due to sickness or oversleeping he would pray it the next day. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said,” Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) missed Witr because of illness or sleep he would pray twelve Rak’at the next day.”

Most of the time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform eleven rak’ah. Therefore if something causes a person to miss eleven rak’ah for witr, he should add a rak’ah. This is the sunnah. He makes it up during the day, but with an even number of rak’ah. He doesn’t pray the odd number. He adds an extra rak’ah following the sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hence if it’s the person’s norm to pray three rak’at at night with one tasleem, the next day he would pray four with two tasleems. Also if it’s a person’s norm to pray five rak’at for witr at night the next day he prays six with three tasleems. Moreover if it’s a person’s norm to pray seven rak’at at night for the witr prayer the next day he would pray eight rak’ah with four tasleems. If a person normally prays eleven rak’at like the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and misses witr, the next day he prays twelve rak’at with six tasleems. And if a person practices thirteen rak’at for witr at night and misses them, the next day he prays fourteen rak’at with seven tasleem and this practice is the best. This action is supererogatory not an obligation. May Allah reward you.

Imaam Muqbil's statements concerning some books

Minhajul Muslim
by Abu Bakr Al Jazaairee

-It's not referred to (as an authority).

Fiqh-us-Sunnah by Sayyid Sabiq

-It's good however he uses weak narrations as proof. Also don't be concerned with the discussion on shaving the beard nor those who have difficult work in which he makes permissible the breaking of the fast and making it up on another day. This is not correct nor is it given consideration.

Fiqh-us-Seerah by Al Ghazaali

-A book thats not referred to (as an authority).

Halal wal Haram fil Islam by Yusuf Al Qardawi

-As for this book it's distorted. It's a very small treatise that indicates the limits of your (the author) knowledge. Had someone else written about the halal and haram he would've produced volumes. Indeed shaykh Fawzaan refuted him in a book he entitled criticism of Al Halal wal Haram.

Ihya Uloomud Din by Al Ghazaali

-It's not depended upon with regards to hadith, because of the mentioning in it of a number of fabricated hadith. Rather hadith that have no foundation whatsoever like Al Iraqi clarified.

Below are some of the verses which are translated incorrectly in "English Translation of the Message of The Quran" which is published by Book of Signs Foundation (copyright 2006 CE). This translation is authenticated and approved by al-Azhar University[1] and claims to be "Dawah oriented" i.e. it is catered to non-Muslim readers.

It also has a 14-page long preface by Dr. Zakir Naik!!! Please see the attached screenshot from the official website of the Book of Signs Foundation.

Below is the comparison of the translations of the meaning of some verses in it with the most authentic english translation that was endorsed by Imam ibn Baz rahimahullah viz. The Noble Quran translated by Allamah Taqiuddin Hilali and Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan.

To see the Arabic verses associated with the correct translation of the meaning of the Qur'an select encoding Arabic(Windows) in your browser.

Here it goes,...

1. Wrong interpretation of the shahada "La ilaha illAllah" implying only Tawheed ar-Ruboobiyyah without consideration of Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah
47:19 - (O Prophet), therefore know, that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for your sin,...
Correct interpretation from The Noble Qur'an is
 Muhammad (47):19

So know (O Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) that Lâ ilâha ill-Allâh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh), and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. And Allâh knows well your moving about, and your place of rest (in your homes).

2. Wrong translations/interpretations of sifaat(attributes) of Allah
13:2 - ...And (He) is firmly placed on the Throne [of Power];
Correction:
 Ra'd (13):2

Allâh is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see. Then, He Istawâ (rose above) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He has subjected the sun and the moon (to continue going round)! Each running (its course) for a term appointed. He regulates all affairs, explaining the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail, that you may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord.

92:20 - But only the desire to seek the Approval of their Lord Most High;
Correction:
 Al-Lail (92):20
إِلَّا ابْتِغَاء وَجْهِ رَبِّهِا لْأَعْلَى

Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High;

76:9 - "We feed you for the sake of Allah alone, no reward do we want from you, nor thanks."
Correct translation from The Noble Qur'an is
 Al-Insan (76):9
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَانُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاء وَلَا شُكُورًا

(Saying): "We feed you seeking Allâh's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.

2:115 - Wherever you turn, there is the Face (the Divine Countenance and Presence) of Allah. For Allah is All Pervading, All Knowing.
Correction:
 Al-Baqarah (2):115

And to Allâh belong the east and the west, so wherever you turn yourselves or your faces there is the Face of Allâh (and He is High above, over His Throne). Surely! Allâh is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knowing.

57:3 - He is the First and (He is) the Last, and the All Present, (Omnipresent, the All Evident): And (He is) the Hidden, and He is the All Knower of all the (minutest) things.
Correction:
 Al-Hadid (57):3
هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

He is the First (nothing is before Him) and the Last (nothing is after Him), the Most High (nothing is above Him) and the Most Near (nothing is nearer than Him). And He is the All-Knower of every thing.

57:4 - He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, and then He rose over the Throne (of Authority). He knows what enters within the earth and what comes out of it: And what comes down from heaven and what rises up to it. And He is with you where ever you may be. And Allah sees well all that you do.
Correction:
 Al-Hadid (57):4

He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then Istawâ (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, what descends from the heaven and what ascends thereto. And He is with you (by His Knowledge) wheresoever you may be. And Allâh is the All-Seer of what you do.

3. 'Kursi' incorrectly translated as 'Throne' inspite of clarification in the footnotes of "The Noble Qur'an"
2:255 - His Throne extends over the heavens and over the earth,
Correct translation from The Noble Qur'an is
 Al-Baqarah (2):255

Allâh! Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter . And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursî extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [This Verse 2:255 is called Ayat-ul-Kursî.]

4. Hur translated as Companions. Click here to read about Dr. Naik's errors with regards to this issue.
44:54 - We shall enjoin them the companions with beautiful, big and lovely eyes.
Correction:
 Ad-Dukhan (44):54
كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

So (it will be), and We shall marry them to Houris (female fair ones) with wide, lovely eyes.

5. Miscellaneous mistakes
2:30 - And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels; "I will create a vicegerent on earth."

And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth." They said: "Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and thanks (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You." He (Allâh) said: "I know that which you do not know."

58:22 - ...For such (people who believe) He (Allah) has written Faith in their hearts, and (He has) strengthened them with a spirit from Himself.

You (O Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam)) will not find any people who believe in Allâh and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) ), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rûh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allâh is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allâh. Verily, it is the Party of Allâh that will be the successful.

1. Dr. Saleh as-Saleh rahimahullah mentioned in his book 'A Chapter on The Dispraise of al-Hawaa by Imam Ibnul Qayyim al-Jawziyyah', "Al-Azhar recommended the book(Reliance of the Traveller of Nuh Ha Meem Keller) because of the Ash'arite orientation of the people of influence in these institutions. The truth, however, is that Nuh Ha Mim , IIIT, and al-Azhar are Ash'arites when it comes to the tenants of faith.

Where should a woman stay when offering the optional late night Prayer behind her husband?

Q 2: Is it permissible for the husband to offer qiyam-ul-Layl (standing for optional Prayer at night) with his wife standing beside him even though he is not leading her in Salah (Prayer)?

A: Offering Tahajjud (optional late night Prayer) in other than Ramadan is not permissible in congregation continuously; rather, each person has to offer it individually. However, it is permissible for your wife to offer Salah beside you as long as you do not lead her in Salah and she does not follow you. Also, there is no harm for her to offer Tahajjud with you in other than Ramadan occasionally but not continuously; because Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) offered optional night Salah with the Prophet (peace be upon him) and so did Abu Al-Darda' who offered Salah with Salman (may Allah be pleased with them). Your wife should stand behind you when you lead her in Salah.

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

Praying two rak'ah inside the Ka'bah (Hijr)

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah

Amma ba'd

Making Takbir, then du'aa to Allaah after praying two rak'ah inside the Ka'bah (Hijr) is a Sunnah

Question: Is salat inside the Ka'bah in any way superior to salat outside it, and is it permissible for a person to speak of what he has seen inside the ka'bah?

Answer by The Permanent Committee: Salat inside the Ka'bah is preferred, if it is possible to do so without any inconvenience, difficulty or harm to anyone, as the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) entered it and prayed therein, according to an authentic narration in the Sahihain (Two Sahihs). And it has been reported from him (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) that he came out one day looking sad, and he said: "Verily, I fear that I may have placed a burden upon my Ummah (i.e. by entering the ka'bah)." [1]

And when 'A`ishah (radiallaahu 'anha) asked him about salat in the Ka'bah, he said: "Pray in the Hijr, because it is a part of the House." [2]

This proves that salat inside the Ka'bah is preferred and is a means of drawing close (to Allaah) and an act of obedience, and in it is great merit.

However, it is not fitting that there should be crowding, or harm, or doing anything which causes difficulty to him or to the people. It is enough for him to pray in the Hijr, because it is a part of the House; and there is no objection to speaking about what he has seen inside the Ka'bah, such as its inscriptions, or what is on its ceiling or the like. There is no objection to a person talking and saying: "I saw such and such and such and such." There is no sin in that.

quote:
The Sunnah, when one enters the Ka'bah, is to pray two rak'ahs and to say "Allaahu Akbar" and invoke Allaah, the Almighty, the All-Powerful with whatever supplications are easy for him at the end of it, especially those which have been reported (from the Prophet, salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) because the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) entered the Ka'bah and prayed therein, then he performed Takbir and supplicated Allaah. All of this has been authentically reported from him (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam).
