The image of the Afghani girl only able to see the world through one eye as a result of a narrow interpretation of the niqab advanced through some hadith illustrates a truly diabolical, unsacred, repressive dimension of Muslim teaching, which would insist under pain of violent punishment, that a woman should not even be able to see through both eyes in public, for fear that Muslim men would be too attracted to her to be able to control themselves and avoid harrassing or molesting her.
