Wadiyar inaugurates Chamundi car fest
Mysore, Oct. 9 (MRS)- Two sacred religious ceremonies were held at the Chamundi Hill, one at the top and one at the foot, here this morning in the presence of hundreds of devout Hindus.
While at the Hill top in the premises
of the sacred Chamundeshwari Temple, the scion of the royal family Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar performed puja to the idol of the car festival which began this morning, at the foot of the Hill near the Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre and the helipad Sri Sri Ravishankar, the Art of Living Guru, performed Rudrabhisheka for world peace in the newly-acquired site for constructing his Ashram.
Wadiyar inaugurated the grand car festival with a special puja to the Goddess at around 6.15 am in the presence of a large number of devotees. Top officials including Deputy Commissioner S. Selvakumar and prominent personalities were present.
There was an elaborate Police bandobust in view of the heavy rush and vehicular traffic.
At the foot of the Hill, Sri Sri Ravishankar performed Rudrabhisheka to Lord Shiva at the Ashram site between 7 am and 8.30 am. A large number of his disciples from
Mysore and Bangalore attended the ritual. Some of the foreign disciples had accompanied the Guruji.
Every year during Navarathri, the Guruji observes silence for seven days along with various homa and havanas at his Bangalore Ashram. He visits Mysore for Chandi homa after Navarathri. This time the homa was performed at Chamundeshwari Temple yesterday.
The Guruji, who arrived in the city last night itself, visited the Hill this morning and had the darshan of the Goddess after abhishekha.
On his way back to Bangalore, Sri Sri Ravishankar visited the Sai Mandir at Srirangapatna and unveiled the statue of Satya Sai Baba.
