RSOLES the club for the enthusiast of these trucks that were simply rocket science when they first came out.

News, help and info for those with an interest in the Bedford RL and RS models particularly the 'Green Goddess' self propelled pump .

Preserving, owning, showing Bedford RL RS and all derivatives therof. Without being too rigid about it, we also welcome owners of related vehicles such as AFS Gypsy's BSA's Matchless and even Commers.

The RL 4X4 was developed from the postwar Bedford "S" series and was introduced in 1953, many RL's were used by Auxiliary Fire Service, the Military or Local Authorites and Utilities. Tough as old boots, these old Bedfords are now 50 years old, lets try and make sure there are still some left in another 50.

2004 saw the controversial decision to release for sale the "Green Goddess" fire pumps held in reserve by the British Home Office (ODPM or whatever they are called this week),which are built on the Bedford RLHZ chassis. Now in private ownership (except for those bought by flood prone councils to put to proper use) these simple but powerful pumps are ideal for those with an interest in fire engines, military type vehicles, or even those who just want to spray huge quantities of water about and annoy the neighbours.

Without being at all serious about it, this group is about enjoying and loving these trucks. Going off on tangents is perfectly OK but let try and keep it vaguely interesting.

This year, 2010, has seen the first group get together for many years. An invasion of the Welland Steam Fair, despite cantankerous steamers and rowdy drunks a good time was had by all and next year promises to be even better, so join up now and stake your claim.
