As we mull over the various principles behind an ideal government to protect
the freedom of all mankind, I believe it is important for us to stay focused
on common sense -- what rings true to the soul.
Today's system is so complex, and the lawyerspeak is so overwhelmingly
thick, that it takes a person a hundred times more bright than Edison to get
to the bottom of what the enemies of freedom have done to find loopholes for
the support of Satan's government to give it an air of legitimacy to the
point that it has become accepted by so many in the world today, and has
gradually usurped control to such an extent that it is poised to very soon
become the prevailing form of government on earth.
Where Randy J. and Greg excel is in a knowledge of what these dark disciples
have done, and some possible remedies of how to 'get out' or to 'undo' this
tangled mess.
Certainly there is a role for that, and that role does overlap -- to an
extent -- our mission here at RSICC of presenting to the world an
alternative to Satan's government.
BUT THAT MUST NOT BE OUR FOCUS. Our mission statement is not about
untangling Satan's government, it is about creating a new thing.
And that new thing will ring true to the soul.
People will not need a Ph.D. to understand the basic structures and
principles and foundations of freedom. The average, responsible,
21-year-old (and yes, there are a good portion of those even today) seeking
citizenship (will not come automatic by birth) should be able to comprehend
it, and find a resonance with it.
Yes, there will be a need for an explanatory founding document (akin to the
Federalist; anti-Federalist papers) that will be required study material for
lawyers and judges in the coming society; and that document will need to
talk through how possible contradictions have been accounted for, etc. And
that is where the kind of knowledge and gifts that Greg and Randy J. will
come in most handy -- to help us identify all of those intricate nuances.
But focusing on the new creation and working through all the details
surrounding it is one matter. Belaboring the current system and how to undo
that mess, is quite another, and in my opinion shouldn't be paid hardly any
attention in our deliberations, for it is really more a distraction than
anything for what we are seeking to accomplish.
To draw an analogy, there is what is called the "Gordian Knot." The story
goes that this knot is tied so tight and intricately that no one can figure
out how to untie it. People come from far and wide to tackle the task of
unraveling it; but none are able. If I remember right, after a great while
passes, and the entire world is left stumped, some unconventional soldier
comes along with a sharp sword and whacks right through it. Hence the
phrase, 'Cutting the Gordian Knot.'
That is what we have to do.
If we get bogged down with trying to unravel the Gordian Knot of Satan's
government, we will forever be at it and will never accomplish what it is we
are here to accomplish as an organization.
Let's pull out the sword of truth, through faith in God, and cut clean
through the Gordian Knot of Satan's deceptions with a presentation of
principles so clear that none with a good heart can misunderstand or
quibble. The world is yearning for such a heroic act.
In my opinion, Joel's material is by far the best start ("start" isn't a
good term because it is closer to completion than to commencing) of anything
we have available to us.
MOTION:
That said, I would like to propose that this concept, as annunciated above,
be presented for discussion, and possibly be presented as 'required reading'
for anyone who is considering joining the rs_form forum where we will be
hammering out the principles of government that will become the footing,
foundation, flooring, walls and roof, etc. of the new government of God
(i.e. of truth, that rings true to common sense, without a lawyer's
encyclopedia required to understand it).
FOLLOW-UP
Pending guild approval of the above motion, I have created a tentative
rs_form forum sign-up page that reflects the proposed as well as approved
prerequisites for involvement in that committee. See
http://www.rsicc.org/Discussion/rs_form/
Except for this most recent 'Gordian Knot' motion, this checklist reflects
items approved by the guild in the recent vote archived at
http://www.rsicc.org/Voting/Results/2002/02/13form_govt_committee.htm
MOTION TWO
I am guessing that there is going to be some protest that the above
checklist for the rs_form forum prejudices the discussion strongly in favor
of the model of ideal government that Joel Skousen has presented thus far,
and that it unfairly snubs the approach to ideal government proposed by
Gregory Thomas Williams, which is similar to the solutions proposed by Randy
J. (neither of whom are official RSICC members). I do believe that Greg's
and Randy's proposals, and others similarly related, do deserve a fair
hearing and discussion. However, I do not believe that such discussions
ought to be included, except occasionally, at rs_form. Therefore, I would
propose the creation of yet a separate discussion forum specifically
tailored to addressing those models. I am not familiar enough with them to
adequately propose a name or description for them at this point. Perhaps
another of you, such as Susan, could do this. According to my
understanding, the model Greg proposes would be a covenant society within
the more broad society protections of freedom that Joel's model encompasses.
Hence, a discussion of its parameters does fall within the mission of RSICC,
for establishing the government of God on earth, and should be developed,
but under a different committee and associated forum.
