Clarification:
This "table" vote (below, sent one message prior to this message) is
independent of
the vote presented earlier today (and still under way) regarding the option
for members to commit now to contribute at least a tithe of a tithe if they
desire to make that commitment. That vote (not contradicted by this one),
specifically, is

The "vote on tithe of a tithe" spoken of in the following ballot is in
reference to the original motion to have RSICC have the commitment to the
tithe of a tithe be a condition of membership. A 'yes' vote on the
following ballot would prohibit such a vote until the legal form of RSICC is
agreed upon. A 'no' vote would not place any time restraint on that vote,
but would allow it to come up before or after that time. A no or a yes vote
here is not a no or yes for or against the idea of a tithe of a tithe. It
is just a question of the timing of such a vote.

Subject: Table tithe of tithe vote until after organization's legal form is
decided
INTRODUCTION:
For:
In summary, (to paraphrase) Susan made a motion (seconded by Joe) to table
the tithe of a tithe discussion until after the legal form of RSICC is
decided, to avoid possible legal problems with funds and bank accounts, as
well as to avoid the possibility of lawsuits because our articles of
organization and declaration of purpose are still yet in the development
phase.

I then made a motion (seconded by Joe) to amend Susan's motion so that it
says the VOTE (not discussion) would be tabled until that time, so
discussion could continue in the interim if anyone desired.

Against:
I am opposed to this motion being passed because it could be a long time
before we agree on a legal form for RSICC, and we already have a bank
account we can use for the receiving of contributions, so really there is
not a reason to postpone the question of the tithe of a tithe, for people
have a legal right to contribute to whatever cause they wish, only they may
not claim this contribution as being tax free. As for the possibility of
lawsuits, things like that are always a threat to any organization from
friends turned enemy. I choose not to fear it, but to move ahead, doing
what we need to do.
This motion has had more than ample time for discussion (more than 24
hours), and should now be brought to a vote.
