This is a Group for Rotarians of RI District 3290 in Asia Zone 5. Our Rotary District is the oldest on Mainland Asia and has the oldest continuing Club east of Suez - R C Calcutta. RID 3290 is also the largest RI District in the World - with 193 Clubs, covering Nepal, South West Bengal and the A & N Islands. The Dsitrict will be divided from 2007/08. South West Bengal and A & N Islands will become RID 3291 and Nepal RID 3292.

1931 : District A : Declared provisional District A comprising India. Burma and Ceylon.
1936 : District 89 formed in India with 24 clubs.
1937-38: DG Sir Pheroze Sethna of RC of Bombay.
1938-39: DG Sir Frederick James of RC of Madras
1942 : District 90
1942-43: DG AC Ukil, RC Calcutta
1943-44: District Governor W Buchan
1944-46: District Governor Nitish C Laharry
1946 : District 91
District renumbered in 1946-47 under the stewardship of DG Nitish C Laharry RC Calcutta
1949 : Dist 53
Around 1949-50, District 53 was formed with 16 clubs in India (West Bengal. Bihar. Orissa. Assam and portion of MP). East Pakistan and Burma
1957 : District 325
Clubs in West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, Nepal Sikkim and portion of Bihar.
1957-58 first DG Raj Kishor Prasad
1988 : District 3240 formed with North Bengal and Northeastern States of Dist 329. The election of the DGE was conducted 1989-90 and the first DG was Ramesh Agarwala.
1990 : District 3290
District becomes 3290 with 11 revenue distrits of West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands - and Nepal.
1990-91 : First DG Subimal Ghosh of RC Calcutta
2008 : District 3290 will be divided
