[disclosure: the following is also a plug for <http://stepitup07.org> events this weekend]
Hello Roots,
This Saturday (April 14th), citizens across the U.S. will be gathering locally to make a
political statement in favor of prompt climate action by Congress.
<http://events.stepitup07.org> has details on events in your neighborhood (or how to
organize one :).
Lots of people will be biking to these events and will be receptive to the concept of more
practical biking. Beyond extreme practicality, the Xtracycle has critical message:
responding to climate change can be awesome.
Even if you decline to be in the (to be uploaded) picture with the "80% CO2 reductions by
2050" banner, you might want to take your Xtracycle to the nearest event this Saturday.
Maybe put a sign on it that reads "Cost: two car payments or six months of gas(*)." Put on
some stickers (xbike or otherwise). Tell people that it's so fun, reducing your footprint is
an afterthought. Even if you don't say a word, you'll be putting good ideas into new
minds. Just don't forget those URL/reference cards that came with the FreeRad. :)

(after failing to drum up support for an open San Jose event, plan to attend in Palo Alto)
* 10k mi/year in a 25 mpg car is 400 gallons of gas which is now approaching $1200.
