The Royal Observer Corps Network: a mailing list for all stood-down and former members of the ROC. Exchange information, opinions and news with former comrades and lost friends from Corps days.
The ROC was the eyes and ears of the RAF during WW2, becoming the UK's Home Defence NBC warning and monitoring force up until what was termed the end of the Cold War.
All former Cold War Warriors, Post, Crew, NRC, or even if you were one of the 'Remnant Elements', help us all to keep the flame alive.
You must have been a part-time, reserve or regular member of the Corps at one time to join this newsgroup mailing list, and be able to show this in your first email by indicating appropriate information from your past service: we welcome all ex-Observers from throughout the country to join this list- there are many tens of thousands of us out there, so why not join-up again? Expressions of interest, input and archive material may indicate the value of a future dedicated ROC website, to aid all in the remembrance and appreciation of the value of the Corps contribution towards the reserve air forces of the Crown and the national defence of the UK.
This mailing list initiative is known of by the National Comittee of the Royal Observer Corps Association, but is not intended (at present) to be a formal channel for that Association.
