Re: symtoms

Hi Martha and yes welcome!

I will share with you what I know. To date, I have been to one doctor and
shared how close I lived to the SSFL and my family history
with my Dad and one brother dying with cancer. My experience for all my effort,
(I even brought printouts with real factual data) My doctor did not even look at
it! My Doctor explained this wasn't his field and didn't not have the
expertise, but assured me proper screenings for cancer was something to keep on
top of. So, he did not blow me off, but at least my primary doctor is notified.
So, this was my one and only attempt to date, so far. Not very promising, but
you may have more luck than I did.
My younger sister has had problems with chronic pain since her early twenties.
She is single and this has been a real hardship for her.
She has had tests done, but that was long before we had any knowledge that we
were drinking well water contaminated with radiation and chemicals.
She now has problems with her bones, fractured ankle with pins and so on.
I too have been having pain since late 1990's, I just dismissed it, until, 2006
I had an xray done because I was now limping, my hip joint cartilage was gone!
Or rubbing bone on bone, they said it was caused from osteoarthritis. (no family
history of osteoarthritis) I was only 53 at this time. Again, at this time, I
did not have any knowledge of what my family was exposed to. I wished I had,
because at this time, I was lucky with having my hip replacement done at
Stanford Univ. The Doctor looked at my xray's and then looked at me puzzled as
if he saw something really bad. I asked "What?" is something else wrong? He
said, well it is your femur/femor bone, it looks unusual, something about it was
larger in one place where there should have been an indentation.
Again, I did not know about any of this stuff, until the spring of 2007.
My surgery was extremely successful and I am pain free, with the exception of
the other side is now starting to flare a bit. Also, my right knee is damaged
too.
Two of my children were born with malformed bones in their feet, which was
corrected without surgery.
I have read that strontium 90 an isotope found in soil samples or ground water
samples at the SSFL, can be ingested, and then it settles into the bones. They
even test baby teeth for it, especially after all of the above ground atomic
tests that were done in the past.
This particular radionuclide or isotope (I'm no scientist so bare with me) I'm
only trying to relay what I have read and understood.
Strontium 90 has a 1/2 life of 28/29 years. Which means that it can still be
dangerous up to 28/29 years from the time it was released.
In otherwords it can settle into the bone, and then sometime years later, causes
cancer. At least this is the way I understand it. I could be wrong, and it
would be advisable for everyone on this group to do as much reading on the
subject they can.
I would think, with the right Doctor backing you, they could do some lab tests
on bone samples or bone marrow samples or even teeth, and could at least tell
you it is positive or negative. But, I have yet to find this avenue.
One site I was on today, looked at the toxicology of multiple chemicals combined
with radiation and just about every possible combination the results all said,
No human data available!

It is a hard call whether or not to tell your friend about the exposures, but
ask yourself, wouldn't you want to know? I would!
I have experienced what my sister has gone through most of her adult life, and
actually doubting her own sanity because of her pain issues, especially when
doctor after doctor cannot find anything wrong with her.
Again, she has been single, sick, with limited funds for healthcare.

I hoped this helped some!

If anyone else has any information they would like to share, or knows of
anything one can take to rid the body of strontium 90, or cesium.
I for one would be very interested.
One person did tell me about a product called Zeolyte.
I have not tried it yet, but I'm thinking about it.

Trudi

my street in Simi Valley died of cancer, and now my sister-in-law, who currently
lives in Arizona, has pain throughout her torso and they can't seem to find the
cause. She is only 42 and is unaware of the Simi Valley exposure. I really don't
want to scare her unless this info would help doctors to diagnose her pain. They
have not found cancer. I would only want her to know this, if indeed there is
something that can be done, for instance, remove heavy metals or whatever. Any
ideas? Also, her husband, age 45, just had his prostate removed, cancer.
