Brothers & Friends,
We may think about publishing a special issue on our favourite "Bishnuda" on behalf of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee which may be distrbuted to students on the day of the reunion of the college to be held on 25th Dec. next. The ex- students of the Vidyalaya may collect the issue after that date. This will be a small tribute on our part in memory of our beloved "Bishnuda".

Dear Brothers,
It is indeed very disheartening to know that the person under whose tutelage and guidance we have spent a remarkable period of our life is no more.
From the casual meetings of Bhavan jayantis to the august occasions of Annual celebrations his words inspired all students to try and achieve their best.Needless to say, his tenure has seen both the school and college achieve new feats in both academic and cultural spheres.
May his soul continue to inspire us in the same way.

I am writing this mail on behalf of my younger brother Kaunteya Guha, who is also an alumni of Narendrapur RKM, both school and college (passed BSc statistics, 2009), but apparently he is not in this collegepraktani mailing group yet, hence my mail. He is presently pursuing 1st year MStat from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, and looking for a suitable summer internship position in a suitable company who recruits statisticians. He will be available for this internship in months of May-June 2010, before he moves on to the final year of Mstat. If any of you are in a recruiting position in your company or have suitable contacts, could you please let me know, then I can ask him to forward his CV. Myself being an early academician (chemistry), I do not have enough industrial contacts, about statistics, I almost know nothing. So any cooperation or guidance from you will be highly regarded.
I am not enclosing his CV here, but in brief, he scored 72 % marks in BSc stat hons from Calcutta University (RKM College, Narendrapur), 84.5% and 85.7% marks in Madhyamik,2004 and Higher Secondary, 2006 respectively.
Shubho Bijoya to all of u. I am perplexed to know the sudden demise of our beloved Shailen Da(Jha). He was an exceptional organic chemistry teacher and motivator.
May his soul rest in peace.

Dear all
Shubho Bijoya to all of u. It is really very saddening to hear the news of passing away of Shailen Da(Jha). His method of teaching Organic Chemistry in our Hons classes
instilled lot of interest in the subject.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Dear All, A very happy bijoya to all. It is indeed very sad to know that our beloved Sailen Da is no more with us. Besides being a good teacher,Sailen Da was also a very good debator. In fact,he had been a judge once or twice in Extempore speech and Elocution Competitons in Vidyalaya when we were students. He had once told us that his dream of becoming an IAS officer remained unfulfilled. JU chemistry reader found dead in Berlin room
OUR BUREAU; The Telegraph ( India ); October 2, 2009: Mystery shrouds the death of a reader of the chemistry department of Jadavpur University , Shailendra Jha, who was found dead in his room on the campus of Freie Universität (University) in Berlin a week ago. Jha, 49, was in Berlin with three colleagues on research work, part of an exchange programme of JU with the European Union.
“He was found dead in his room on September 24. There were no external marks of injury,” Mridul Bose, a professor of physics who is part of the JU team in Berlin , told Metro. “The German police have not been able to ascertain the cause of death, and so they have not released the body yet,” he added. Apart from Bose, the JU team comprised Piyali Palit, a professor of philosophy, and Sourav Bol, a research scholar of the physics department.
Sources at Jadavpur University said late on Thursday that the authorities at Freie had sent word that the forensic investigation was over and foul play had been ruled out. “The body should reach Calcutta by Saturday,” an official said.
Jha, a bachelor, is survived by his mother Shakuntala Devi, with whom he lived in Mandir Apartments of Narendrapur. “We have not told her about the tragedy. She knows that he went abroad in August and is scheduled to come back later this month,” said nephew S.K. Thakur.
Jha was last seen on September 22, when he had dined with Bol. According to Bose, Jha had retired to his room and remained indoors the next day. “I was in Paris visiting my son, but Piyali Palit and Sourav Bol were in the same guesthouse. They had repeatedly called his mobile on September 23 but there was no response,” said Bose.
On the morning of September 24, when knocks on Jha’s door went unanswered, the caretaker of the university guesthouse called the cops, who broke open the door and found Jha lying dead on the bed. P.N. Ghosh, the vice-chancellor of JU, said: “Shailendra Jha was popular with the students and an asset to the university.”
Jha had studied and then taught at the RK Mission College in Narendrapur, where sources described him as “a popular teacher, a keen debater and a man of varied interests”. He had also taught at Taki Government and Presidency colleges.
Dear friends,
I received the following email from Satyada today regarding Sailenda:
Dear Sujay,
My Vijaya love to you all. We could not even think that this Puja would be
associated with the saddest of news. Sailen's body will arrive at Dum Dum
tomorrow at 11-45 p.m. His old mother is almost insensitive to the outside
world. We could not so far communicate to her the great loss but she can
somehow perceive her loss as is evident from tears rolling down the cheeks. I
have no words at this moment to give you any suggestion. Let us all pray.
Love.
Satyada
Sincerely,
Sujoy

It's indeed shocking news that we lost one of our amazing professor as well as a near and dear one from our ndp family. I feel so deep because we came into direct contact with his personality as well as his lucid teaching. To tell you the truth he used to teach us I. L. Finar so well that we would not had to study much at hostel and I still remember when I was going for IIT, Bombay entrance test he inspired me a lot and that day was a rainy day and the place was at BB in 2001. I myself feel fortunate having such a great "Guru". Even though he was not a full time professor at our college, but his kindness and excellent human beingness are unforgettable. I pray to God a heavenly peace for his departed soul and a stability in his family.

I also am very saddened to learn that our beloved Sailen-da is no more with us. I think he started teaching organic chemistry courses from our batch on a regular basis. He taught us the stereochemistry of organic molecules, especially, the conformations of cyclic molecules. Being in the same field (organic), we communicated a few snail mails while I was doing my M.Sc. in India. That time he was working on his Ph.D. work. Everyone liked his teaching as well as personality. We pray for his departed soul.

It very shocking news that our beloved Sailenda is no more as we called him as Sailenda in Narendrapur. As I studied in H.S. as well as in B.Sc from Narendrapur, I can say he was the best in organic chemistry. It is hard to believe his sudden demise. Let us pray for the departed soul. Please let me know how it happened.
